This mod pokes a few holes in the guard helm model, based on what look like holes in the textures.

This mod is inspired in part by both Semi-Open Guard Helmets and Improved Closefaced Helmets - both fantastic mods, but they weren't quite what I was after as they open up the eye holes a little too much for my taste. This is understandable because of the eyebrow clipping I discovered while making this mod, but a little bit of mesh reshaping in Outfit Studio sorted that out.
The textures suggest that the helmet has both eye holes and small slots near the wearer's mouth. I have edited the model to add actual holes based on what's implied, so that you can see guards' eyes without leaving them too exposed.
It should be compatible with all retextures that use the vanilla UV layout. I took my screenshots using Xavbio's Guards and Stormcloaks Retexture SE - I highly recommend all of their armour retextures.
Compatibility patches are provided for ICH and WACCF.
Bald or headless guards are a known issue and may be caused by conflicts - check that this mod loads after all other armour mods.
