    Update 10th Nov '23

I'm very pleased to be able to add a third variant of Diverse Firewood. The Diverse and Dynamic Firewood Stacks Combo created by Glanzer combines my mod with PatchesTheClown's Dynamic Firewood Stacks (install that mod first). In this version of the mod, the firewood piles are turned into containers so you can choose how many logs you'd like to take when harvesting. When you've emptied the stacks, the piles will disappear. Check out Glanzer's video: Diverse and Dynamic Firewood Stacks for more on how the mod works. Also, please give Glanzer some well deserved kudos!

    Update 4th October '23.

With the new upload 'Diverse Firewood - Really Lootable Piles', firewood piles now react to harvesting! Check out the video for a better idea of how this works.  Make sure you only install one DTA version of the mod. It's safe to uninstall your previous version before installing 'Diverse Firewood - Really Lootable Piles' without any  ill effects on your save.

A couple of notes about the Really Lootable piles: all the variants that I created will harvest correctly (there are around 90), but I had to keep the vanilla piles (firewoodpilehuge01, firewoodpilelarge01, firewoodpilemedium01, and firewoodpilesmall01) to harvesting without the piles changing. This is because it caused some very odd graphical glitches in inns. So, when you're in an inn, you can still steal wood, but the piles will stay the same when you do. This does mean, though, that you can now steal wood from inns in cold locations, which you couldn't do before with just DTA. As with DTA, though, ash-covered and snow-covered piles are not lootable. The vanilla piles will appear in the world but I've kept them to a 1 percent chance of doing so, so almost all the piles you encounter as you travel will deplete when you loot them. Enjoy!

    Update 29th Sept '23.

Diverse Firewood - Vanilla, made the Hot Mods! Thanks so much to all of you who've downloaded and endorsed the mod!

    Update 27th Sept '23.

Some cool news. I got SwitchNodes working on the log piles today, so in the next update (if you're using DTA), logs will disappear from the log piles when harvested. I've got quite a few meshes to work through, so bear with me, but I'll hopefully have the update out this coming weekend.

    Update 24th Sept '23

I've uploaded a Dynamic Things Alternative patch that will make the new firewood piles harvestable. Install it after the main mod. Enjoy!

    24th September '23.

Thanks to all of you who've downloaded and endorsed the mod! It's really appreciated!

I've added an optional FLM patch for Diverse Firewood and Jayserpa's Immersive Interactions created by markdf. Please give them some kudos for their work! Thanks markdf!

If you're looking for a High Poly Project version of this mod, check here: Diverse Firewood - Base Object Swapper. Enjoy!

I think they might be Renthal's. I use different ones in different towns.

Hello, I was using the Diverse and Dynamic Firewood Stacks Combo version and I got a crashed pointed to a mesh called 'firewoodpilehuge01_RIFT_F.nif' when going to Riften. Switched back to the vanilla BOS version and it didn't crash anymore. Could you take a look?

      Hi there,

Thanks for the report. I'll take a look at that. In the meantime, if you head into the SWAP file and add a ; in front of firewoodpilehuge01_RIFT_F.nif then that'll exclude that pile from SWAPs to avoid any further issues.

      Hi again,

I've looked at the mesh, and while there's nothing obviously wrong with it, I've excluded it from SWAPs in version 1.1 while I investigate further. Thanks again for posting so I could fix this up.

For some reason I had trouble trying to get the Vanilla BOS version to swap reliably. I finally removed all the chances and put all the options on a single line separated by commas and that fixed the problem. It's probably something on my side but I thought I'd mention it in case someone else has the same problem. See the sample below for just the small piles (I did the same thing to all the groups, and didn't include the variants that had their chance set to 0).

    Spoiler:
    Show

    FirewoodPileSmall01|FirewoodPileSmall01,FirewoodPileSmall_B,FirewoodPileSmall_C,FirewoodPileSmall_D,FirewoodPileSmall_E,FirewoodPileSmall_F,FirewoodPileSmall_G,FirewoodPileSmall_H,FirewoodPileSmall_I,FirewoodPileSmall_J

I should probably mention that I turned all the statics to containers so they could be looted which might be the source of my problem. (I didn't want to install DTA because of all the extra stuff in it.)

Thanks for posting this. Would you be interested in sharing your non DTA version of the mod? I'll happily add it to the downloads for others who don't want to use DTA.

Unfortunately it's a hybrid between your mod and Dynamic Firewood Stacks because I use your variants but I use Dynamic Firewood's script on each container to make the piles disappear temporarily if everything is taken from them. I also use the snowy/ashy models from Dynamic Firewood since material textures can't be applied to containers. I asked PatchesTheClown (author of Dynamic Firewood) if I could get permissions for putting out a BOS version of his mod but I don't think he's active anymore.

All good. Thanks for the update. I'm not up to scripting for mods yet, but it's possible in time that I might be able to create a version that is standalone from DTA (an ESL flagged esp to convert only the woodpiles to flora in the CK combined with NiSwitchnode nifs that either harvest in the way Really Lootable works or disappear completely when harvested). I'm working on the HPP version of this mod at the minute but may circle back afterward. I understand why people choose not to use DTA; it covers a bit too much for me. I use a very stripped-down version that only really covers the firewood harvesting. Thanks again!

Hi again, I talked with the author of Dynamic Firewood Stacks (PatchesTheClown) and he gave me permissions to post a patch for his mod ("Hey Glanzer, I've mostly moved on from modding. Feel free to make and post those patches."). So I put together a patch that uses his activators but modified them to use all your firewood variants along with a modified version of your BOS swap file. It works really well. I've put it here. It would basically be a 3rd option in your main download section, and it requires Dynamic Firewood Stacks. Look it over and host it if you want. It uses containers instead of flora so that the PC can choose how many to grab (useful for encumbrance mods).

This is awesome! Thanks so much for this. I'll upload the mod as an alternative option. From watching your video, I really like how the harvesting works (particularly the encumbrance element). Thanks for persisting and getting permission from PatchesTheClown. Quick question, does this require Dynamic Firewood Stacks installed first? If so, I'll add that to the requirements when uploading.

Yeah, it requires Dynamic Firewood Stacks because it uses its activator script for removing and respawning the stacks. None of the patches in that mod are necessary since the BOS swapper takes care of everything. The script is really pretty simple, I could see you developing your own script eventually and doing away with that dependency. (btw the animation I'm using in the video comes from Animations but any other animation mod that gets triggered on activations should work.)

      Hi there!

I've uploaded the combo today. Sorry, it's taken a bit to get it done. I've had COVID this week, and that's slowed everything up. Thanks again for your work on this!

Hey, is this supposed to work with tree mods such as Happy Little Trees/Logs?

It should do. As far as I know, Happy Little Trees doesn't have its own firewood piles. This mod will use whatever textures you have installed for your trees.

Yeah, those are both just around Riften. If you wander around the outside of town (or in town), you should see some.

There will be a mismatch of bark texture on the wood, since HLT uses custom texture path for firewood. A patch is needed.

It's nothing to be worried about. In order to work, this mod needs to win a conflict with the original DTA mod. The conflict won't have any effects on your game or your save.

Probably a stupid question, but if I use the new DF Really Lootable I no longer need the DTA patch from earlier, correct?  And I can still use the FLM patch with the new version too?  I appreciate your time and efforts!

Hi there!  The FLM patch should work with the new version, as I didn't change any FormIDs, only the meshes. And you don't need the old DTA patch if you use the new version. Thanks for checking out the mod!

Thank you for the vanilla version, I was gonna download the other before I saw the requirements. High poly project is good I'm sure but I didn't really feel like downloading a whole new big overhaul mod and think about conflicts, etc. Maybe there's no conflicts, idk, but this one's much easier to try first, thanks!

No worries at all! I love the HPP logs, but I also have a game that stutters along at around 30 fps because I've hugely overloaded it! Vanilla versions of higher poly mods are a great way to keep your game stable and running well. Thanks for checking out the mod and for taking the time to leave a post!
