hi guys incase someone ask I confirmed it to Lucaoys the author of majestic dragons the high poly vanilla dragons is compatible goodluck enjoying your glorious vanilla dragons fellow dragonborns!
When using the newest version, the skin still don't "burn" away. After the soul absorption, the mesh just changes to the skeletal version. Am I the only one experiencing this? :-)
Thx for your reply. I tried spawning a couple of different dragon "types". They all had the same problem. First the skin starts to burn, but after a couple of seconds the burning animation stop. When the soul absorption is done the skin just disapear completly and leaves the skeleton.
Thanks for the reply. I've had issues in the past where I experienced similar problems with dragons spawned via console command. But then I find that the same dragon type found naturally during game play would work perfectly fine. It actually makes testing this mod pretty difficult, since I am unable to determine what exactly triggers the 'burning' animation so I can reliably test all dragon types in game.
I haven't tested it, but it should be. As far as I know DDC does not alter the vanilla dragons, but only adds new dragons. There should be no conflict. But again, I haven't had the opportunity to test this as I do not use DDC in my current mod list. As my mod is only a mesh replacer it is safe to install and uninstall mid save if you want to test yourself though.
Beautifull !!!! Beautifull !!! and Beautifull !!!! i tested it now and yes ! is compatible with diverse dragons collections!! all dragons look much better !!!! nice mod!!! Thank you Pieter82 !!👍❤️
@Raijinkaze Yes, that is the way I believe the two would work. Your vanilla dragons will be HP, but not all of the dragons added by DDC since many use unique meshes added by DDC which do not rely on the vanilla dragon meshes. I have not tested this myself, though.
I know this is a huge ask, but do you plan on maybe eventually expanding this mod for the unique DDC models? If not, I completely understand, as it has 29 different models in total...
@SouLG97 Unfortunately, that is simply to much of an undertaking for me right now. Simply getting the vanilla dragons done and working was a huge accomplishment for me, but it required a lot of work and caused a lot of frustration to get it done. I doubt that I will try my hand at something like that again soon. Maybe one day when I have more experience working with rigged meshes.
Haven't tested it myself, but Infinite Dragon Variants does not include any dragon meshes. So I can only assume it uses the vanilla meshes which should make it compatible.
"the average triangle count of the popular Game Of Thrones dragon mod are around 248,000." lol can you make optional file for this one with the same insane triangle counts for us vanilla texture users would be nice making those textures look better?
Unfortunately, increasing the poly count any more would actually be more work than than the original mod, and it would only be a negligible improvement. Also, I might be misunderstanding you, but increasing the polygon count of a mesh does not improve the texture applied to said mesh. To improve a low resolution texture it needs to be replaced completely by a more detailed higher resolution texture.
I don't know if we are using the word 'texture' in the same manner.
A 3D model consists of a mesh with a texture 'printed' on top of it. Lets use a cereal box as an example. The box is the mesh and the pictures printed on the box is the texture. Giving the box more sides will not improve the quality of the printed pictures on that box. Examples of what I'm trying to describe: Mesh With Texture, Mesh Without Texture, Just the Texture (no mesh)
My dragon mod is simply adding more sides to the box. Mods like HD Reworked Dragons Collection 4K improves the print quality of the pictures on the box.
I remember reading somewhere on a mod someone saying that vanilla dragons do have high quality textures but a few things were keeping them from looking good. But for the life of me can't remember which mod I'll see if I can find it. This mod does some interesting with meshes that improves vanilla textures big time even adds parallax without any plug ins maybe you could dobsomething like this with your high poly changes. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/992
I am aware of that mod, it adjusts the texture UV's of the meshes to make the textures appear more detailed. Unfortunately that technique only works if the texture in question is 'seamless', and none of the creatures or characters in Skyrim (and most other media) uses that. Seamless textures are mostly used on large static models like walls, rocks and the ground. 'Seamless" means the textures can be tiled to cover a large mesh without showing any seams as it repeats to cover the whole mesh.
Thank you. Unfortunately anything that comes with a mesh replacer like Paarhurnax Dragonskin & Durnehviir Resurrected, will require a patch. Odahving Retuexture on the other hand contains only textures and will thus be compatible without a patch.
This is great! Frankly what makes vanilla dragons hardly usable for me is the low poly count of the models and the really low res textures, they just look dated and out of place in a heavily modded skyrim with improved graphics, so it is nice to see some people remastering them. Got dragons are cool, but vanilla dragons just have that big nostalgia and charm attached to them. If only we could also have diverse dragons and deadly dragons!
Thanks. I feel the same. GOT dragons are very well done and truly an inspiring endeavor. But ultimately, Game Of Thrones is not Skyrim and I started to miss the iconic Skyrim dragons after using GOT for quite some time. As for Diverse Dragons, my mod is completely open permissions so opusGlass is more than welcome to work my HP meshes into their mod. And thanks for Majestic Dragons, I'm really enjoying the added majesty of the larger dragons.

Yes, Majestic Dragons is indeed compatible. I'm currently using it along with HPVD.
Can you recall what specific dragon this happens with, or does it happen with all dragons in your game?
Thanks.

I have also had problems with spawning via console when testing mods. I will try and find a "real" dragon and test this again.
Thx for your time and great mods!

Thanks for getting back to me Capitanohook. I'm sure others wil find this information valuable as well.

looks like it would as that's just causing dragons to be a little more varied in color scheme but i wanna be sure
Despite the slight delay, I still appreciate it

Hopefully this makes sense
Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I hereby give you permission to port Higher Poly Vanilla Dragons to console.

Also is a patch with Deiform Alduin needed?
Like Lucaoys said, Butterfly Dragons will be compatible.
But unfortunately not Deiform Alduin, as it makes use of it's own mesh replacer.
