About this mod

Let's make wardrobes, dressers, and mannequins useful in Skyrim! Leave your clothes at home like a decent Dragonborn, and then wear a whole outfit instead of picking and storing items one by one.

Description
Have you noticed how wardrobes and dressers in Skyrim are so useless? Don't get me wrong, they store your armor and clothes and you can get them back later on but also do barrels! So I thought now that we have the awesome Dynamic Activation Key by jayserpa, why can't we organize stuff a bit better in those wardrobes and dressers? So here is the mod: Useful Wardrobes and Dressers.

Using this mod Wardrobes and Dressers keep their original function but using DAK they offer new functionality. The mod only works on items in player houses. To be more specific, the alternative option appears when:

  • You are in a player-house (modded or vanilla),
  • Player-house has the proper keyword: LocTypePlayerHouse
  • The thing you are looking at is a container: It doesn't matter if it "opens" as a container. Some player-home mods put other types of items that look like a container, and when you activate them it opens a container, but the game doesn't recognize them as containers. A way to identify this is that if you have Quick Loot, it only shows the items inside of what the game recognizes as a container. E.g. linked "containers" in Elysium Estate are not actually containers. However, there are actual containers in Elysium Estate as well.
  • You press DAK key: Shift by default.

Note: the mod adapts to any UI interface that you use, as long as you have SkyUI. I use Dear Diary which is why screenshots are with Dear Diary.

How it works?
It's actually pretty simple. When you go to a wardrobe or a dresser in your home, hold DAK key (shift by default) and press the activate button to open the useful wardrobes menu (It's the same old container menu, a bit modified). There you can edit your outfits and see what is in each one. Then you can simply wear the whole outfit by equipping it. If the container that you are looking at has the items required for the outfit, you would wear it. That simple!
You can also open the MCM to reset outfits, set their icons, rename them, and more!

The mod can be installed or uninstalled without any harm to your game. You won't lose any items if you uninstall my mod or if you somehow manage to break it. They are always stored in the wardrobe/dresser that you put them in.

To make the mod as compatible as possible with modded houses, I made options in the MCM.

If you want to be able to change the hotkey for DAK, or you generally like having more possibilities when looking at an item you can take a look at Dynamic Activation Key MCM or Dynamic Activation Key - Addons Collection by MaskedRPGFan. The mods go very well together.

In version 1.1.0 I added support for Mannequins with few options in the MCM:
Option 0: Mannequin Mode dissabled
Option 1: Equip the Mannequin's Outfit (Left in the gif below)
Option 2: Equip the Mannequin's Outfit and store unequipped items (Middle in the gif below)
Option 3: Equip the Mannequin's Outfit and store outfit (Right in the gif below)

Look at the mannequin. On the left it becomes "naked" after the change of outfit, in the center, it gets the chest piece swapped but the hat remains on the player, on the right it gets every item from the player and equips them.

Install/Uninstall/Update
Anytime. Don't forget to install the requirements though!

Compatibility
Should be compatible with everything. There is zero edits on records. If you find something that is not compatible, let me know and I'll either fix it or add a note here.

Note: If you are using immersive interactions, make sure to update it to the latest version that uses DAK. If you want to keep using the old version, you have to go to its MCM and disable "Open Doors/container". Thanks to NyteBlyade that after some testing together we found this issue.
