Skyrim Special Edition

Hello, I just wanted to write this up in case anyone was interested, plus it could be helpful for anyone else who wants to do modding that involves marriable NPCs.

An NPC has 3 requirements that need to be met for them to be able to be married by the player. This is discounting any requirements not directly to do with the NPC, such as the player needing to be unmarried, the player needing to wear the amulet of mara, etc. Here are the 3 requirements:

  • The NPC's voice type (which kinds of lines they use, male nord, female argonian, etc.) must be in a certain list. This is because the voices in the list are the only ones that have voice lines recorded for marriage. This requirement is removed by this mod's required mod, Easy Marriable NPCs, and this is all that the mod does.
  • The NPC must be in the faction for potential spouses. This requirement is there so the player can only marry NPCs handpicked by the developers. This requirement is bypassed by both the Friends and the Everyone version of this mod.
  • The NPC must have a positive relationship with the player. This requirement is so the player can only marry NPCs that like them. This requirement is bypassed by the Everyone version of this mod.

These are all the requirements for an NPC to be eligible to be married, I hope you found this informative!

Additional note: The second and third requirement can by met on any NPC via the use of console commands, to raise the relationship with the player and to add the potential spouse faction. The first one cannot be bypassed to my knowledge with console commands, and if you could it would likely also break most of the NPC's other lines
