Wow, actual penalties for being a malicious little crime goblin... This is going straight into my 'Thieving Overhaul' merge. ;)

Excellent mod, installed and had to try it out. Attempted some pick-pocketing and ended up in jail. Got out through the sewers got a bit on the way out from Whiterun and was spotted by a guard on a much greater distance than they normally do. Tried to run but didn't get far, tried again. Got farther with the help of an invisibility potion and thought I got away.
Bounty hunter showed up, I didn't have the 42500 gold he wanted so he drew his axe. My puny level 4 character with flames and a dagger didn't stand a chance against him and his two-handed axe. Probably because of the mod Player knockout I didn't die and the bounty hunter wanting to get the money I couldn't give him hauled me back to jail and I realized it was time to serve the sentence that with the longer jail time was rather lengthy for Skyrim standards. 100 days.

Any chances of someone porting this mod to Special Edition?

This mod will likely be included in a larger mod for SSE that is under progress. If there would be enough people who requested separate versions again though, that could probably come out later on as well.

Is this mod still coming to SSE?

That bigger collection project was put on ice a time after the latest post here. However, an SSE version of SCoS alone would be reasonable to consider again though, but I should not promise if or exactly when it would be.

I have been working on an SSE version recently now, but an issue (which apparently exists in this version as well) which I'd preferably like to fix is how transforming into a werewolf doesn't apply the correct amount of gold to your bounty, and instead always goes with 1000.

If you want Skyrim crime to be more balanced, use “Serve Sentence A Prison Jail Mod” with this mod.
That mod will make serving jail become a bad choice, so you are forced to pay your bounty, or your bounty will be a pain in the ass to clear off.
(That mod makes vanilla serving jail in bed option costs 10 golds per day, so it's nearly impossible to clear your bounty by serving in jail. Thus you have to pay, or run with guard hositle, though there's chance to sneak out.)

I would say the prison mods are more hardcore than this one.
      Here it's simple increase bounty.
Prison mods litterally keep you from seeing daylight again.
Imagine a 5000k bounty that each day only pays back 10 gold.
Thats 500 in game days. Rip.

While it's good to increase the bounty amounts, the jail time unfortunately is the real issue. The consequence of serving jail time is somewhat trivial and unchanged (just sleep it off and lose some skill progress). The maximum sentence of 7 days is given if the bounty is 700 gold or more. So whether the player has a bounty of 700 gold or 70,000 gold, it makes no difference in the jail sentence and its consequences.

I was thinking a lot about that as well. I was trying to look into it, but I figured it would be best to leave things as simple as they are now. At least now people will be encouraged to go serve that jail time rather than just paying to avoid it over and over.

I would suggest making another version where the player is forced to endure the punishment with a schedule, events, in jail. etc. The guards will feed you, talk to you or mock you, perhaps there are other prisoners with you that when talked too, will help you escape, and whatever else you can think of to provide the players to be able to roleplay a prisoner.

That sounds really good! It would be really nice if, along with what you've suggested, there were some sort of "violence counter" increasing the probability of getting attacked by some of the other inmates, the longest the PC stays in jail.

OK; with that said, please excuse the following, which may be just a bit too much, but... why not just throw it out there, maybe someone could use it or some of it for an exciting jailtime mod...

      INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS JAILTIME:
The Cidna mine would lend itself particularly well for such a feature...

-Say that you got sent to CM, and had to endure X amount of days (let's say 7 for this example). To that, a certain (either random or fixed) amount of mining / minerals quota would be assigned.

-Every day you'd get a chance to work for it (just as in vanilla mining) but you'd get a random quantity of minerals with each try (the system would also allow a limited number of tries per day, each try having a cooldown (you can't just try and try; you try, get your results, have to wait around CM 'till cooldown wears off, try again; until the daily cap is reached). Also, the system should have a built-in way to prevent you from getting to sleep prior to X time of day (so you don't feel tempted to just wait or sleep the rest of the day off -the idea is to make you feel actually trapped within the game!)

-Now, say that you complete the 7 days of imprisonment, but failed delivering the total quota by an X percentage -for this example:

day 1: delivered 25% of the total quota.
      day 2: " 15% (40% of total)
      day 3: " 5% (45% of total)
      day 4: " 10% (55% of total)
      day 5: " 15% (70% of total)
      day 6: " 10% (80% of total)
      day 7: " 5%
      Total completed: 85%.

That would leave you with a negative 15% of ore you still have to deliver, even if your jailtime is done. You must remain in jail until the randomizer "decides" that you've delivered 100% of the assigned quota. As it is randomized, you may deliver it in 1 day, 2, or 3 -maybe at most. Now, alongside all that, another randomizer is counting the probability of being attacked, which is increased on an everyday basis, starting from day 1 and escalating from the weaker NPCs to the more powerful ones -also on a daily basis.

All in all, you better have some luck with your mining, because the longer you stay in CM the more chances you have of being attacked by that big bad Orc whose name escapes me atm! (I believe there may be a couple magic users in CM more powerful tan the orc, but anyways, you get the point). Of course, the lower level PCs would get the most out of such mod, since they would be left unarmed (except for some mining tools -which could be leveled down to make far less damage tan vanilla, for harder difficulty), all alone in a hostile environment. Once you are the DB and have your shouts and all, the experience would probaby become far less threatening (or, a built-in mechanism could be found to make the other inmate NPCs more threatening / powerful).

So, yeah... a bit too much, I know, but something along those lines would probably give the player a feeling of urgency to get outta the cooler, if ya know what ah mean :-P

      Cheers, all!

Maybe this mod will help you? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60746

But it's probably not fully compatible with this mod. Maybe a patch is necessary. Probably...

This is what I think of and looking for a mod to change that. If only it can be made to always put bounty on your head, and serving in jail will not remove that "record" even if you paid out .So you will be kept forcing to face with Bountyhunters and guards to punish you("wait , I know you..") , until you finally pay.
Or each time you are put into jail will cost all your money in inventory , until you clear the total amounts of the bounty. (so you either pay directly ,or jail will only extend the time to avoid confronting by the guard, you finally have to pay, or every time you meet a guard will catch you and ask you to choose, put you into jail again and loot your stolen items, or if you choose to bribe you have to bribe constantly for endless times.)

Skyrim, you've come to your senses and I can play you again! Thank you!
You should probably mention on the front page this mod is probably very compatible / unlikely to overlap with anything in other mods, if you're only changing the fees for staying out of jail, if what I've read on another mod dealing with breaking the law logic is true, and they seemed knowledgeable and their mod seems like a masterpiece too.
  8. Not saying this is a sh*t mod by stating this, but you left out an option for avoiding this being a pain in the a*s. "Don't install the mod because you don't want real consequences"

This sounds very interesting... I have a question though...is there truly no bounty for vampirism? Turning into a Vampire Lord, at least, should be punished, much like Werewolf. Also, maybe if you're caught feeding on someone (though one should be able to enthrall people to forget in that case) or if you've not taken care to feed regulary, looking more monstrous with time.

As far as I am aware, those things should be affected the same, as they supposedly are based on the same parameters.

Most likely, yes, it will be safe.

I will not say anything for sure though, because all in all, mods and compatibility tend to be an intricate thing. Again though, it will almost certainly work without problems for you, so I would advice you to give it a try.
