The author doesn't seem to have been on Nexus at all since a few months after they shared this, and the permissions aren't open. But converting and optimizing the meshes for SE automatically fixes the CTD LE users seem to be experiencing. For myself, I also converted all the worldspace references to be integrated via Base Object Swapper instead, removing the need for patches with other mods altering the same dead fish racks or adding new ones (overhauls of the cities, CC Fishing, player homes, and so on).
Whenever I picture a salmon in my head, it's always one with those beak-like jaws and red coloration in the spawning phase, so this mod is perfect and one-of-a-kind in that respect. Very realistic. If you know how to handle yourself with a simple port, I definitely recommend this. I've enjoyed using mine for a couple years now.
It's not the dried salmon that cause the CTD. I did some poking around in TES5Edit and I discovered that CritterSalmon01 and CritterSalmon02 were the culprits. When I deleted those two records from the plugin, the dead salmon did not cause the game to crash. I could find them there on the racks. It's strange.
EDIT: I fixed it! To those who would ever want to use this gorgeous mod, here's what you need to do... First you need to get Nifskope. Then you open up Sa_osm_005.nif and Sa_Rm_002.nif using Nifskope, then go to "Spells" up top, and then "Optimize." I did everything in that submenu, and then everything in "Sanitize" too, and now no more CTDs with beautiful salmon.
I manually added a cylindrical bounding box and that seemed to work the best, if I remember correctly. It was pretty simple, didn't have to adjust anything.
This mod caused me a number of location-specific crashes as well (even with downsized textures). As not everyone is reporting this, I assume it's a problem with either my rig or my modlist. It's a shame, as the textures and meshes are so excellent! Thank you for sharing this mod even if I can't use it.
CTD in windhelm , Dawnstar , solitude , in reality in all port where are fish dried, this mod its dangerous CTD directly when you try to go in dock place.
I Thinks the problem its not Salmon in life , but the dead fish textures in dock or other place
Agreed. I'm getting ctd's too with this. Took me forever to figure out which mod because I didn't expect a salmon replacer to be causing it. Had to narrow it down one by one on my mod list and sure enough crashes when I'm walking towards the Solitude docks from the main gate.

Hello, this very pretty mod is a real danger for the game. It's been three weeks since I tried to find the guilty mod that crashed directly the CTD games when I went to the docks of the ports of Dawnstar, Solitude, windheilm. And tonight I found the responsible this mod that replaces the salmon that are to be dried in the ports. Damage but it should be pointed out this mod is dangerous. Sorry
1) Not endorsing this just because it requires Dragonborn and Dawnguard.
2) That about 6 years after release, and with the price of the game and DLCs being so low, you and other people still complain. Get the DLCs those can be bought cheap now a days.
what i find strange is... a numbered list for only two items
"1" because it doesnt need to
"2" you make a lot of ignorant assumptions. that i dont have the dlc, that i wouldnt have it due to price, etc. It has nothing to do with price, whether or not I have the dlcs. I guess you would not understand.
compatible with Improved Fish? I imagine you simply would overwrite that mod, with this one, yes? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14320/?
they look so bright while hung, I dont know if they use the same model while swimming but if it is a separate model then maybe the color could be turned down for hanging fish? anyway, all in all these look great
I had been waiting for something like this for soooo long. Thank you and I can't wait to see what else you produce! Will definitely endorse this.
However, just one suggestion to improve this would be adding a female version of the river/spawning stage of the salmon so that there are not only male salmon (with the large beaks) in the rivers. Use the same mesh as the oceanic stage and just retexture it with the same red colouration.
Here is a picture of the oceanic-phase Coho: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/salmon/graphics/coho.jpg
And here is a picture of the spawning phase female Coho: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/salmon/graphics/spawn_coho_female.jpg
As you can see, in terms of morphology, the female resembles the oceanic phase and doesn't have a large beak (why I say just re-use the oceanic Coho mesh you already have), but it still takes on the red colouration.
