hi, this is a brilliant mod! Any chance of a patch for Expanded Towns & Cities, some of the shrines just need moving a bit - for example in Rorikstead, the shrine overlaps with the new general store, in Ivarstead it overlaps with the new smiths etc. otherwise great work, really simple and engaging mod!
The first time you enter a wayshrine in a region, you shouldn't see any other portals. You'll have to wait until you find another wayshrine to be able to warp between them.
SWIFT is a more content-rich mod, with quests and custom scripting and all that fancy stuff. This mod is intended to be as simple as possible, and thus uses nothing but vanilla Skyrim assets and scripts. Also, the network of wayshrines is set up differently--in this mod, the wayshrines are limited to hold-specific networks, whereas the network in SWIFT is more wide-reaching.
The main impetus I had behind making this mod is to eventually release it on the PS4, as most fast-travel-enhancement mods won't work on PS4, as they require extra scripting for their functionality.
Judging from a brief reading of the mod page, this mod is for travel between certain spots within each hold, with a hand full of wayshrines that allow for travel between different holds. It also sounds like some bits of it are still a WIP though. I would say that the three mods that do this are probably of similar quality but just with different locations and ease of use.
Maybe add a mage to charge use for the wayshrines?
Like, back in Morrowind, you could teleport between Mages Guilds, but the service cost you some gold. Maybe you should implement something similar. It'd make a bit more sense as opposed to these free teleporter places right next to the carriages who would charge you for their services.
That sort of thing requires scripting, unfortunately, and I aim to keep this project scriptless. (For a bit more in-depth explanation: I looked at the possibility of extending the carriage travel script to use this. But Skyrim's carriage system as it stands is hacked together since they were working on a more complex system that got scrapped, so instead of having the destinations as properties that can be changed, they're hardcoded into the script. I can't actually repurpose the carriage mechanics as they are without making my own version of the script, which defeats the point of making this scriptless.)
And like I said, this doesn't obviate carriages. Carriages are for inter-hold travel, wayshrines are for traveling within holds.
Wow, this looks very interesting. I love how this differs from the other alternatives out there, in that it still restricts you to plan your route. The fact that the your wayshrines aren't all interconnected makes it feel like a throwback to the Silt Strider system in Morrowind. I am tracking this for now but will download right away to endorse it.
By the way: Could you post some screenshots of more locations? I would love to see how they are placed and therefore integrated into the world.
