Note ... The smelting and break down recipes as of version 2.2 contain a safety check. Equipped weapons and armor will not show in the smelter and tanning rack's lists. You will have to unequip any equipped item(s) that you want to smelt or break down.
One of the abilities that version 2.1 added is the ability to improve most pre-enchanted weapons. Pre-enchanted weapons with a base damage of 20 or higher were given an additional required component in the improvement recipes. Version 2.3 extended this to many pre-enchanted unique type weapons. * those with a fire type elemental enchantment require an 'Aversion to Fire (Rancid)' potion, * those with a frost type elemental enchantment require an 'Aversion to Frost (Cheap)' potion, * those with other enchantment types require an 'Aversion to Magic (Cheap)' potion.
A tip for players who like to craft: pick up up nails while looting and don't sell them. Nails are used in the some of the recipes for crafting house furnishings, and for crafting some armors such as the assassin gauntlets.
The 'Bow of the Mad Hermit' is one of a small handful of unique weapons that I did not make recipes for.
With most weapons I had either a crafting recipe to guide me on what material should be used for tempering or the weapon's internal material keywords provided the answer. However unique weapons do not have recipes for crafting them. And for some unique weapons the SureAI team initally either did not provide a material keyword or it was debatable as to what material was intended for the weapon. The mad hermit bow, which uses Skyrim's chitin bow mesh, originally had an odd material keyword of "Imperial" (odd for Enderal anyway), and that is why I did not provide a tempering recipe for it. At some point in the SureAI team's numerous releases, they changed the bow's material keyword to "Wood". I plan to load up Enderal and take a look at the bow in-game. If it indeed looks wood-y, then I might create a new release of my mod and add a tempering recipe for the bow. I got to admit it seems out of place to me to have a high level bow that can be improved with a mere stick of firewood though.
To temper the Shroud of the fallen the ingredients is 1 bastion (rancid) potion. I've looked in all of the shops and filled in the map with location to search for the potion. I've googled it for both enderal and skyrim and I can not find it "in game or any mention of the potion anywhere.
Any ideas??? Wondering if the portion exists in game or if the ingredience list to temper this item is misspelled? \
Looks like the SureAI team created a fortify heavy armor potion, but never placed it into any of the leveled lists for distributing it into the game world. Thanks for reporting it.
This also affects the tempering recipes for other high level pre-enchanted heavy armors.
I'll try to upload a new version within the next day or two that will have upodated tempering recipes. In the meantime, I know many players dislike doing this, but... you could add one of the illusive bastion potions to your inventory with this console command: player.additem 11A525 1
Version 2.31 of this mod has a fix for the unavailable bastion potion. The tempering recipe now requires a Mana Salt ingredient, like recipes for pre-enchanted high level light armor.
The fix was also applied to four other pre-enchanted high level heavy armor recipes.
Judging by the mod's description, I'd say you probably do not need it, if you are using mine.
They both try to do the same things. If you use both it would likely be confusing to see multiple choices for tempering of items.
Without an exhaustive look at what the other mod covers, I cannot say which gives more complete coverage for tempering pre-enchanted items.
Another consideration for deciding are the material requirements for the tempering recipes. They are not likely to be the same, at least not in all cases.
