IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES with this mod, please make sure you have followed standard troubleshooting procedures for Skyrim before asking for help. I cannot promise support for any of my mods unless you BEGIN A BUG REPORT in the "bugs" tab of this page.

If you submit a report, please explain the issue as carefully as possible, and provide exact steps required - preferably from the start of a new game - to reliably reproduce the issue. If I'm unable to reproduce the problem, it's less likely that I will be able to help solve it.

ALL OF MY MODS are dedicated to the PUBLIC DOMAIN. This means that NO PERMISSION IS NECESSARY to reproduce them all or in part in any way you wish. Keep in mind that some mods that include content by other authors may or may not require their permission. Also consider that uploading new versions of any mod will probably imbue you with plenty of support requests from the community, and handling them can be a large responsibility.

My activity as a Skyrim mod author has decreased greatly over the months and years, and it is unlikely that new features will be added to any of them, so if you are interested in officially taking over authorship of this or any of my projects, feel free to contact me.

So is this like an early April Fools joke? After installing, all NPCs and guards attack on sight, even when having only 1 accidental assault with a bounty of 5. No dialog. Sheathing my weapon has no effect as well.

It would be awesome if somebody made a mod in which if you kill an NPC in your home, guards won't storm inside to arrest you.
    I mean, it's f***ing ridiculous.
1st of all, how would guards even know you killed someone in your own home, unless they costantly spy through people's windows?
2nd, my home is my private property. If someone breaks inside without my permission, I have a right to use lethal force to defend my domain. That is the way of thte Nords.

    I'm using mod manager VORTEX.
Recently, VORTEX displays error 'Crime Overhaul.bsa is intended for use oblivion'.
    Can I ignore it?

      Fixed.
This message was caused 'Bethesda Archive Check' new function.
      I deleted .bsa file.
No problem if I have loose files.

at first I read the description , it says less punishing , more rewarding and I'm like wow great mode for jail and bounty system in skyrim then I play the game ,not only every bounty is x2 to x5 now ,on top of that when I had 2300bounty and I was thrown to jail it increased to 3000 for no reason :D then after I retrieve my gear and escape and negate the 500 plus bounty it goes to 2500 ,I have no idea how this works but I know it's working opposite of what description said and this is actually a hardcore even more punishing bounty system unless one of my other modes is interfering ,I got many other mods but the only other bounty related is crime bounty decay which was recommended by this mode and it's actually a really nice recommendation so thanks for that mode ,and I wasn't really a fan of reducing greet distance because it affects every npc in game

The packing of the archive is odd. There is a scripts folder in "Data" AND a BSA and ESP. The scripts folder is also contained in the BSA.

love this, but wish there was a way for guards to cut ya some slack if a crime is committed during my heroic attempts at saving the towns from dragons or vamps. i've accidentally stolen, assaulted and killed someone, but i still automatically go to jail.
i just accidentally killed someone while fighting 3 dragons in whiterun. i immediately sheathed weapons yet guards quite fighting the dragons (wtf?!) and approached me. there was no option to pay or be forgiven, so i chose "i don't have time for this, do you?". all guards started to attack me! i used RDO's feature to stop the aggression, then killed all dragons. yay! then as soon as i talked to a guard, he says "you shouldn't have shown your face!", screen goes black...and i'm sent straight to jail lol

is there a setting or something i can change w/ this? i don't mind paying a fine, but auto-jail for someone that had some collateral damage while saving many, seems odd

Hey! Really cool and much needed mod! Is there a way to disable the attack forgiveness? When i set friendlyhitsnoncombat to 0 there is no cap.

I know this is quite a necro, but you should try setting any value that you want to not exist to -1 in ini files.

For example, instead of zer (which tends to be infinity), try -1.
