    New version 2.0 is out!

    Alright, I've been working day and night to get the distant terrain to match up better and its been quite the ordeal, but I'm happy (a happychappy as such) to finally have a new version out which fixes this!

    Please check the "Installation" section in the Desc tab for the full details, but thanks to a set of tools TES5LODGEN and DynDOLOD I've been able to include a out-of-the-box Skyrim landscape + Regional Snow and Ice download.

    For those that want to create a more customized distant terrain, because you might have enough mods that make landscape changes, you can use the tools yourself, by going to the nexus page Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - DynDOLOD http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59721 and reading and downloading to create your own distant objects. I have specifically included new LOD objects within this mod so that the new Regional Snow and Ice Mountains and Rocks will be created for you as long as you included it as one of the mods in the DynDOLOD tool.

    I think its important to mention that because the Distant Objects are more detailed than vanilla Skyrim and in fact any other mod created before, that users who previously upped their UGrids to more than 5 (like 7,9,11), can probably reduce them back down to the default of 5. Having more than 5 did create bugs, and this mod specifically addresses having objects in the distant visible. Changing the UGrids was an quick and dirty solution for more detail, but we now have the technology in 2015 and have a more elegant solution.

      You're distant objects lod at least in my setup only really conflicts with skyfalls so a patch might be a good idea as it may put some people off as skyfalls is popular so for now have let skyfalls overwrite from here and done the same for advanced skyrim realistic mountains so will do some testing and get back to you

      Thanks for checking things out.

      I actually use "SkyFalls and SkyMills - Animated Distant Waterfalls and WindMills", so I'm not sure what you mean by conflict?

      There are conflicting meshes so I let skyfalls meshes overwrite from this mod, no apparent issue in game. i am now using you're mountain retextures simply as they obviously fit better with you're shaders but my only observation is the textures get too blurry up close which seems to be a common issue with most mountain retextures, though ASRTO (advanced skyrim realistic mountains) didn't

    The ESP has an error. That DynDOLOD complains about a missing MESH.

    I noticed using Tes5Edit that the mesh is not MISSING.

    It is a mistake. MODL - Model FilenameL MontainTrim0_blackice.nif is WRONG. I corrected it and uploaded fixed file. Supposed to be: MODL - Model FilenameL MontainTrim03_blackice.nif

    does anyone know how I can tweak this so that only the crystalline rocks/mountains are used for all regions? I just really like how shiny they are

    Hello, this mod is really outstanding. I'm the mod author of the Winter Overhaul 2019 and there is now a patch for RIS and WO2019 available. Thank you for this outstanding work

    I was looking all over to find out what each of the patch abbreviations mean. For those of you wondering the same thing. I started typing it out when I found this post from Wavion2 on March 2016: Here it is again in case anyone else needs it:

    Same problem here. Had to google a lot of them. My results:

    bft = better fast travel
    boyd = bring out your dead
    crf = cutting room floor
    cwi = immersive college of winterhold
    docks = ??? Not sure. There's more than one "dock" mod.
    dragonborn = dlc
    elfx = enhanced lights and fx
    ewr = no clue
    hearthfires = dlc
    nernies = Most likely "nernies city and village expansion"
    snowbound acres = snowbound acres
    tes arena = Legendary Cities - Tes Arena - Skyrim Frontier Fortress
    TheFrontier Helgen Reborn = Helgen Reborn
    uskp = unofficial skyrim patch (outdated*)

    *Note that the rsi-uskp patch doesn't actually have the USKP as a master file, therefore it should work with USLEEP too.

    Wow took me a while to realise this mod was causing the bad textures in the landscape.
    Great idea but some really bad textures.

      just use textures from other mods, and rename favourite textures from preferred mod to mountainslab.dds, don't change anything else if you don't know what you're doing (the name of the above texture is that, but it got better, but it will never fit other mods so delete it and place as I told you)

      When you have a choice of what textures to use there are simply no reasons for comments like this. This works well with a variety of texture mods and if properly using DynDOLOD and TexGen it creates a blend of textures from your currently installed mods. This file is endorsed, this comment, not so much.
