CLEARSKY HIDEOUT'S NEW (ANIMATED) UPDATE V01.5: HOW TO FIX BOOKSHELVES
This new Clearsky version is dedicated to EMS60 and BugNexus7, two dear Nexus friends who've helped me a GREAT deal. I also want to thank NiennaClawtooth, TeheeMod, TurriLP, Pharaun159 and DavidTheFalcon for their kind help in testing several parts of it.
This video shows you exactly how to make your PC fix the bookshelf bug in game once you've installed Update V01.5. And it's probably the 1st "in-game Vanilla bug fix" to be uploaded...
The complete list of all issues this version will fix can be found under the Forums Tag up here.
Please note: I do not have that bookshelf bug in my game so I had to fake it for the video. If you did have issues with the bookshelves and it didn't look quite like this, this upddate will fix it too anyway.
1. UPDATING CLEARSKY FROM V01.2 (or V01) to V01.5:
Just follow these 5 steps (or the video's directions) and you'll be fine. No need to haul all you stuff out, restart the mod or even exit the house. All your progress and crafted items are stored in your saves and your game should find them again in this new BSA without a hiccup.
1. Make a new save game anywhere you want, even inside the house if you wish, and take note of that save's number.
2. In NMM Plugins' tab, take note of Clearsky Hideout's rank in your load order.
3. In NMM's Mods list, uninstall and delete all patches first. Then uninstall and delete Clearsky's main file V01.2 (or V01 if you're still using this one - in case you've added music as loose files to V01, remove these from your Data too).
4. Now install Clearsky Hideout V01.5 with NMM - then make sure the .esp has the same rank in your load order as the previous one. And don't forget to chek it, of course.
5. Reload your previous save - nothing should have changed in your game. When in the house, make sure to fix the bookshelves first thing (whether you had the bug or not - this will clear up a couple of scripts you won't be needing later anyway) but don't try to use the shelves right away: EXIT the house and REENTER. Exiting the house will not just complete the bookshelves fix, it will also autosave in your game all the other fixes from V01.5.
2. PATCHES?
Nope, Frostfall, SoS, Skinny Dipping and Bathing in Skyrim compatibility are all integrated in V01.5, with partial compatibility with RND too. So you do not need any patch at all if you're updating, not even Open Cities's patch if your were using it: what you first needed from it is already stored in your save.
If you use Open Cities and are installing for the 1st time however, using '1stInstall_V01.5' version, you will need to download the V01.5 patch for Open Cities in Optional files - this lets you start Clearksy in Riften instead of Whiterun: the message will then be delivered to the back door of Honeyside, on the platform over the lake.
3. COMPLETE FRESH INSTALL
There is a specific First Install version of Clearsky V01.5 available where you won't have to fix the bookshelves and should walk directly into a bug-free place. For this use Main File 'V01.5 for FIRST INSTALL'. Do NOT use this if you have already installed Clearsky, use UpV01.5 instead.
If you absolutely want to fix the bookshelves yourself, you can also use UpV01.5 as Main File for a first install. All you'll need then is to follow are steps 4 and 5 and of course, fix the bookshelves once you get there.
4. CLEARSKY'S MINI-PUZZLES WALKTHROUGH
Clearsky is not a quest so there is no need for a complete walkthrough. But there's a few puzzles that some of you may want to do the "easy and fast" way. Manual download only. And don't install of course - just unzip and get your answers. English version. German version by EMS60. French coming up.
And that's it for now!
IN CASE YOU WANNA KNOW WHY...
1. Why make a clean save? This is elementary precaution before making any change to your game or mods' list. Gives you a save you can always return to if anything goes wrong.
2. Why take note of Clearsky Hideout's rank in my load order? This rank will only matter when updating: in your game saves, all objects' forms IDs, whether custom or not, are identified by numbers and letters, the first 2 numbers being the rank of the mod in your load order - ID's are directly related to your load order and will thus differ for everyone. This is just another precaution to ensure that Clearsky's objects in your inventory or in containers will be accurately identified by your game when your reload after the update.
3. Why uninstall patches before the main file? This is just to ensure that NMM won't grouch: if you uninstall the main file first, the .esp will be gone, afterwards if NMM can't find it when you try to uninstall patches, it may... crash (no big deal, it'll relaunch anyway, but it's still unpleasant).
4. Why uninstall the old main file first instead of overwriting it with the new one? Because your old main file and the new one may have the same name and NMM may not always accurately detect their version's number. So if you're stuck with 2 identically named Clearsky files and are not not quite sure which is which, it'll make it more difficult to make sure you've activated the one you wanted. (Though of course you can still check the install date to determine which is the most recent one)
5. What do I do if V01.5 won't install? In case anything has gone wrong with the V01.5 download (unlikely but it can happen) - you can still proceed backwards to reinstall your previous version and reload your save. Another reason why I always advise to download manually - because you'll still have a copy somewhere of the mod's version you're using even if authors delete them from their threads.
Thanks to all of you guys, for taking Clearsky to the Hot Files, then Files of the Month, and making it a winner of the SubReddit contest - it was great getting there in your company! Have fun now.
This has been a favorite home of mine to visit in Skyrim when I played the "Original" I now play Special Edition, and have always dreamed of this being in it. Visiting this home warmed my heart every time because of how peaceful it felt and how beautiful the area and home was. I loved the animations as well. I would love to visit this mod again in Special Edition as this was one of my favorite player home mods to ever download. Though if is too much, we the community understand and still hold to our word that this is a great player home, and deserves a lot of respect and love.
Great work on this wonderful and beautiful piece of work. Keep up the great work.
Hey Pokerface, thanks for your compliment and understanding. Seems I can't port Clearsky to SSE for one simple reason: it uses too many original creations from mod authors who are no longer active on the Nexus, which means I'll never get the required permissions from them. Even if I could remove these assets from Clearsky, converting all of Clearsky's custom nifs and textures would still demand an incredible amount of time which I don't really have. Sorry about that. While Im' still modding Skyrim and Fallout 4, I'd rather create new mods. I'm already working on a couple of new animated playerhouse mods which I'll probably be able to port to SSE since the only external assets I use in these are modders' resource.
The house is very cool, but most of all I liked the bottomless bag. And such a question is overdue. Don't you have this beautiful bag separate from your home? Thank you.
Ah, real shame the author of this mod probably missed out on Cathedral Assets Optimizer and it's uncanny ability to port assets over from LE into SE. It probably would be a fairly quick and easy update, if we except the fact custom assets from other modders would have to be removed and replaced.
Would be nice to have this classic back now that i'm modding skyrim 64, some users claim to have ported the mod already, and i might do it myself eventually, but right now i'm in that stage where i'm spending the time playing for 30 minutes, and then modding for 30 hours :D
Still, if any of you would offer me a converted version, i'd happily take it, would save me from spending my increasingly precious free time!
I converted it to SE by running it through CAO, opening it in CK and saving it. Everything works, except I am missing a couple textures (the soup pot, the hourglass) However, I love this mod so much, I just put up with it :-)
Hi rhinnah I am a complete newbie and have no idea how to convert this awesome house mod to SE/SSE/AE. How did you convert it? Step by Step please, cause I'm a complete dummy. Please help me? *Hands you a whole basket full of fresh baked sweet rolls. P.S What is "CAO" and "CK"?
8 Years. It's now been 8+ Years since i discovered this mod back in the day. and i'm AGAIN back to skyrim, moddin the hell out of it as if it was yesterday i started with it. and here i am, baskin over one of the greatest Home and Cozyness mods i ever encountered, and STILL consider it to be an absolute piece of Art. It's a damn shame we can't have this again in SE/AE, but i understand the complications, although they make me sad.
Still.. even though i cant use this again - at the moment... i wanted to send some love, because i found you again through Feb's Videos. I knew all the time there was something missing, something important and now i found it again.
Love this mod, it´s always in my loadorder! But now I ran into a problem: I finished the Thieves Guild and brought the original Sceletonkey to Nocturnal, while Akhti´s Key was stored in the Dwemer Hand. Now I wanted to pick up Akhti´s Key, but I don´t get it back, there is only a small window telling me, "This is the place to keep Akhti´s Key safe when I don´t need it". Any suggestiones?
Holy Mother of Chickens! I JUST, for the first time, after 4000+ hours in-game, installed this. WHY didn't someone slap me????
I was going to pop in here and ask all sorts of stupid questions about what I'm seeing and whether it really actually WORKS IN GAME???
But I had a moment of sanity, and I'm just going to explore.
ok, one question. You obviously ... I think... made this compatible with Legacy of the Dragonborn; why not mention it, since its the 800-lb gorilla mod? ...aaaand I just noticed I was supposed to disable Dynamic Things. Ooops.
