Thank you for trying out my new mod. Here is some information about family home locations.
There are only two family home locations at the moment: A small city house in Whiterun for Bretons and Imperials, and a charming farmhouse in Rorikstead for Nords and Redguards. In the near future, I hope to make a family home for each race/family.
Growth Options Spell: This mod adds a spell to the player that will stop or "freeze" the growth process when you select to turn it off. Of course, that means that your family and other NPCs in your family's hometown will stop growing too.
New Version: I have released a new version that fixes the missing behavior file that affected breton teen males. They should be back to normal now.
If I may make a suggestion, after the mod is more polished it would be really cool that after the player progressed into adulthood he could have his only family like in hearthfire (except with growth) and then when he becomes an elder could retire and pass on his knowledge (play ability) meaning you become your son, perhaps using alternate actors. When you do this you lose your level 80, and the child could be differently skilled depending on how you raised and trained them before retiring.
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but I never even thought what you've done thus far would be possible in Skyrim, so this could really become a utterly HUGE mod
I second that!! This would make one of the all time best mods with a little more work. I'll download as soon as get back from vacation. I'll try to give some feedback once I get into it.
Wow, this sounds absolutely amazing. If you take good care of this mod, you can probably make this into one of the most immersive mods ever. Maybe you can make it so that if you start out as a kid, you can't do any of the regular dangerous quests or mainquest/guilds. Maybe you can add a school and kid factions based on your skills, such as a "magic club" or "fighting club",things like that when you're younger, and have a training guild for teenagers where you can practice and develop your skills for when you're an adult and can start the main quest and factions. I think you should start the kids at like 9 or 10 though, like destero said, because running around with weapons when you're that small is pretty unrealistic. If you need any help writing dialogue for the family or quests, let me know. I've never made a quest in the creation kit before, but I can learn and I would love to help with coming up with the story part of it =).
All of those are really good ideas. My mod is in early development as we speak, but I will keep them in mind for later on. I don't know if it will be possible to turn into your own child, but I will look for a way to make it happen.
This sounds like an awesome mod and the idea to watch your own children grow would be great as well.
I once roleplayed a character who was Archmage and joined the Legion. I adopted Lucia and Sofie and created a story that when these two grew up they followed in their father's footsteps. Sofie joined the Legion and became a Legate and Lucia eventually became Archmage.
All of this had to happen in my head of course but it would be awesome to actually see it happen to a small degree. I don't expect them to actually be able to join those factions but it would still be awesome to see them grown up.
I've always wanted a mod like this. Thank you for making such an ambitious mod. I hope that you will continue to work on this and expand on it, creating something that maybe even Bethesda will take notice of and consider implementing it on to their next game.
There is an adult-themed mod out there which allows females to become pregnant and have children. If you could get this mod to work with that one, then you could literally create your own family, and perhaps (assuming the pregnancy mod tracks NPC's) you could populate all of Skyrim with your lineage.
@ Avalon good idea but , there will be some to use this in an ill way, hence the Framework needed ( SEX LAB) for the mod you speak will not allow the interaction of child races
You are the most intelligent woman here and perhaps even the most intelligent person here as well. This is coming from a woman, by the way.
I would like to offer some recommendations.
1) It is a little weird to watch children of the age of three carrying a bow, even a short bow. You might want to add in restrictions that won't allow you to have some sort of gear (like weapon or armor, especially heavy armor) until you have reach a certain age/level.
2) This of course means certain weapons should behave differently. A one handed sword, show be like a two-handed sword and a knife should be like a one-handed sword. A short bow would be like a long bow until a certain age. Given you have restrictions early on, the first weapons you be able to carry with you could be rocks (to throw), a stick or utensil or a knife. There is a mod that allows you to use a fork as a weapon as an example. Slings would be an ideal weapon of choice for a youth, think of Legend of Zelda with kid Link. Unfortunately, I don't think you can do that here, so throwing rocks should be the ideal alternative.
3) I would like not to have aging based on levels. Even though it is unique, it doesn't allow enough immersion. It would be better to just age (but quicken the span a bit or set that based on choice like it would be in the Sims). You can age really slowly like in real life or rather quickly. Your level progression is affected by this. The younger you are, the slower you level. The older you are, the quicker you level, until you turn into an elder, then opposite would become true. Elders and Youths level slowly. Teens and Adults level quickly.
4) You might want to allow differentiation based on race. All human races age at the same levels. Elves age at half of the same speed and don't turn into elders until very late in life, which is really old.
5) A follow up mod could be added to further this extensively to non-essential NPCs.
Totally agree with this. Please consider basing the aging cycle on the actual calendar seasons. Btw: the Wet & Cold - Holidays mod is PERFECT for this mod because it tracks your char's birthday event. It also adds significant holidays (roughly 1 per month) throughout the calendar year. You can also make your own custom holididays.
So like ElvenHeroine suggested, please consider basing aging process on calendar days of game existence instead of levels.
Another lore reason why this is a logicial course of action: if you RP an Aldmeri child, your magical prowess would be nothing shy of awe inspiring--right out of the womb as a newborn! Also the longetivity of your char's life would be impacted if restricted to leveling TBH.
I'll just reply here so my post doesn't get swallowed. Children growing with RSChildren Overhaul seems to be bugged for NPCs. I'm getting white-faced brown-body Braith, and the same offcolor deformed heads on other children. What's more, they start complaining about being orphans when their parents are clearly still alive. I liked being able to grow my character, but I'm not interested in having the rest of the children in Skyrim affected.
Will there eventually be an option for all the other children in Skyrim to be prevented from growth just like Nelkir?
This could certainly turn into one of Skyrims most interesting mods. You could add the option to choose between different starting locations, like in alternate start, so you could start as an Urchin in Rifton or the child of a noble in Morthal or Solitude.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. At the moment, I am sick and have been in the hospital, so I cannot work on my mods until I get to feeling better. When I start back working on my mod, I will think about making a calendar based version (if I can get it to work).
@JustChill, those are bugs associated with the RS children mod itself.
@diogenes50, if you're using race menu, please uncheck racemenu_plugin.esp. That is what causes the children to be so small.
Are you sure? Strange because after removing this mod when I reached adulthood, all children returned to normal. Mila Valentia's face is back to normal and so is Braith's. Braith stopped sighing and telling me her parents are dead. I have a character who's level 46 that I leveled naturally, that never saw the deformed children and complaints about dead parents when they're still alive. RS Children has been on that character since I created them.
only my character is small, when playing as a child. all other childs are fine. also when I become a teenager from a child my eyes are messed up. looks like its trying to keep the child eyes and the adult eyes at the same time.
Fantastic mod, but do you know what vanilla feature utterly screws it over? Transformation. I literally just became a teenager, transform into vampire lord form, and boom, i'm a kid again, but this time appearance and skill levels are completely screwed over.
@ThatSniper 'showracemenu' in the console and writing down all of your character's settings for their appearance is invaluable. I have often had to return to the race menu to set my character's appearance back to what it was on many mods. Skyrim is the type of game where you need to do many things "just in case".
I love the concept of this mod! I have some suggestions on possible ways to handle growth of skills. As a child, skills could start at 0 except for racial skills. For humans, these are five at 20 and one at 25. A child might start with skill 5 in the ones an adult would start at 20 and start at 10 at the one an adult would start at 25. They can improve any particular skill only up to the starting adult level (15, 20 or 25). There are 18 skills, and the child is starting at -15 in each, so they're starting 270 levels down. When they get 135 levels, they 'graduate' to teenager. If you start as a teenager, you could start 7 levels higher in every skill compared to children (7 in non-racial skills, 12 in five racial skills and 17 in one). A teenager who 'grew' from a child has a slightly higher number of levels (135 vs 126), and they will likely be spread around differently. Teens 'graduate' to adult when they get an additional 135 skill levels. There is no cap on individual skill levels for teens. When they 'graduate' to adult, they will have about the same number of total skill levels as a starting adult (the same if grown from child or down 9 if started as teen) spread around differently.
What happens if I use the "Live Another Life" alternate start mod? Does it still let me grow up in Skyrim as normal, is there a Alternate Start option for your mod, or do I need to uninstall the Alternate Life mod?
Just a quick question, is there any way to alter the levels at which you move to the next level. I was thinking of changing the child stage to end at level 13 and the teenager stage to end at 20 (for logic and stuff)
I've gone to the nord home in rorikstead but I don´t see anyone there. When I load my game, the 3d person câmera are very hight for a child. Why this mod need SKSE???
ElvenHeroine, this is a time of war and terror. dragons flying everywhere, stormcloaks and imperials fighting hitting anyone that qets in their way, Giants kill people in one hit, bandits march everywhere, the dark brotherhood, assassinating anyone they're contracted to, the theives guild, stealing from everyone, and horrible giant creatures EVERYWHERE! children need to be able to protect themselves, and for you to want to take away their safety is dispicable.
Hey Bru, Really Awesome MOD, IS this compatible with pregnancy mods, and can you make a MCM menu where you can edit the rates of growth and disable elder age, cause I don't want to be old. A player Allowance could also be quite cool
Hi mimi i just downloaded your mod and i have it in my game but i only have 3 choices elder teen or adult and no child option could you please tell me how i get the choice to be a child because i cant thanks!
the Hall of Beginnings might help with that. it allows for you to die and start again as a new charterer with or with out all your stats they might be able to help you with turning into your kid at lest partialy
I can't find my family. I'm a nord and I can't find my family in rorikstead. I went to my house in rorikstead and no one is there (I have RS childern overhaul and live another life mods and I don't have SKSE)
it would be cool too if when you play as your son there can be a grave for your dad ( the person you played with ) when you get older as he can t get older after being elder and also see his parents graves ( your now grand parents
I love playing as a child in skyrim and learning from scratch how to survive off the land using the mods frostfall and campfire - this mod would be fantastic but for the fact there is no growth spell - I have recreated several players and none of them have the spell - do I have to install this mod manually for it to work correctly? If so which is the growth spell file, the one in the SEQ folder? Sorry for all the questions but I really want this mod to work for me as I am nearly up to "growing" time for my player to turn into a teen and I would hate to have wasted all those gaming hours for nothing - please help
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It would be amazing
I suggest contacting Iceburg, the one who made Alternate Actors. Maybe you could use some of the resources in his mod to accomplish what kingqueenjack suggested in his comment.
Please put the text of this post into the description of the mod. Please. And highlight there: - A small city house in Whiterun for Bretons and Imperials - a charming farmhouse in Rorikstead for Nords and Redguards Please.
Firstly you are not that small in the game, and secondly his videos are more about how not to play the game and just take the mickey out of everyone - so not a serious youtuber -so not a true reflection of the mod at all
Does anyone else have an issue with a seam open in the ground in Whiterun next to the added home..It comes from ZgrothChildren.esp..but i have no way of correcting it cause its linked to a BSA. If anyone could fix this would be great to know how.... Thanks
Does anyone notice an open seam in the ground in Whiterun next to the added home. The problem stems from ZGroth- RSChildren. esp...but have no way of fixing this issue since its esp is linked to a BSA file. would be great if someone could since it wrecks emersion ,
For those coming back to this mod wondering what has happened I leave this for you from Mimi's Tumblr page.

A note about my mods and permissions I have been away from the modding community for a while now, but I always hoped I would return and improve my mods someday. Unfortunately my health has gotten worse since then. I was watching my nephew playing Skyrim yesterday when I realized that I didn’t set up permissions for my mods. I know most of them are ancient in terms of Skyrim modding, but I thought maybe someone might want to pick up one of my dusty old mods and make it even better. Maybe someone just wants to port some of them over to SSE. Anyway to the point - Anyone who wants to use or port over one of my mods has permission to do so as long as they give me credit for the original mod and link back to the mod page on the nexus. That’s all I ask.
Perhaps that is the case. Maybe someone else could continue this mod; maintaining it for someone who no longer can or doesn't want to. It has been abandoned for long enough that I don't believe permission is necessary but a comment on the mod stating that the person is not the original owner is always a plus.

Hey i just wanna ask, how can I make this mod works on my skyrim special edition? I've been trying to find ways online but I can't still find the "Nord child" in the race menu or in the character creation. I really hope you can help me.
Hello man, i'm also trying, i found that you can change the initial breed of the character in the creation kit, but i couldn't see if the converted mod is taking effect
ok I resumed the tests, installed rs children and chose a child to play the actions will happen automatically? I say when he reaches level 20 he will change from automatic race to teen?
hello, I converted the mod to SE it even appears the spell in the inventory and the menu to activate but during the game I didn't see any action working, has anyone tested it in LE to see in practice?
lmao. I'll definitely try this out at some point. I'm just imagining jarl balgruuf giving a quest to a child, asking for the defeat of some dragon hahaha
