    Call for help:
Since I now have permission from Muppet to expand the patch beyond spelling and grammar fixes, I'd love to make an optional esp that enhances the mod further in reasonably achievable ways.
The first thing I'd like to change is this - instead of the quest starting as soon as you install the mod, I'd like it to wait until the player is at least level 10 (so that they are actually capable of killing the enemies in Elsweyr, and will not become stuck during "By the Light of the Moon" ) and has completed "The Way of the Voice" (so that it makes sense when the player identifies themselves to Ku'rana and others as " Dovahkiin" ). When these conditions are fulfilled, a courier should find them and deliver a note from "a friend" informing them that a Khajiit caravan in Falkreath is leaving for Elsweyr. Once the note is read, the NPCs should spawn in Dead Man's Drink and "By the Light of the Moon" should start.
However, I have had little experience in modding beyond changing text, values, and dialogue trees, and have no idea how to implement the above idea. If someone could help me out and explain how to do this, I'll be incredibly grateful, and they'll definitely receive a credit.
    JR
EDIT: DavidTheFalcon has kindly produced a patch to delay the start of the quest until after The Way of the Voice has been completed, when you will receive a letter from a friend suggesting you visit Dead Man's Drink if you are interested in passage to Elsweyr, at which point the quest will begin. It is available in the "Optional Files" section. Please note, it must be loaded AFTER Moonpath_questdata but BEFORE the typo patch. Please let me know if there are any issues.

So I have no experience with this. However I still want to help so I can tell you some other stuff that does what you want. The Dragonborn DLC does something similar though. The cultists only find you after you have first visited the greybeards. It does this by implementing a quest completion check. For the level 10 requirement. Wyrmstooth has a questgiver that will only come find you after you hit level ten. You could open those in CK and see how they have done it. Thus you would basically have two checks. First that the player has completed the way of the voice and second that the player is at least level 10.

I think having the npc spawn is a bad idea though. It can unknowingly cause conflicts when people download mods that edit inns and all of a sudden the moonpath stuff is clashing for the same worldspace. This has the potential to ruin saves when that results in a player having to remove a mod from an existing save. Having them already enabled but not able to progress lessens that risk and allows for better testing. Have them there but don't let the quest progress. They can have the other dialogue but you can not trigger the moonpath dialogue until the note is read. This is easily explained as basically the PC doesn't know the right questions to ask without the note.

Finally thank you for this patch.

After my Exam tonight I will ask some friends who are very experienced with the CK and modding if they have some good tutorials or advice for this.

I'd do it other way around and introduce an alternative version of dialogue trees that "fires" if the player and the NPC's don't yet know that he's the Dovahkiin, with the original one still remaining in use after Dragon Rising or Way of the Voice, if you prefer. I have enough experience to do this. This may possibly some silent dialogue, though it can just be simply managed by giving the player the option to ask the NPC's to get straight to the point and by utilizing the already existing voice sounds. "Moonpath to Elsweyr" is just too good to be dependent on advancing along the main quest, especially since nothing in its plot really requires the player to be the Dragonborn.

      (1) Could you also remove the Quill of Germination inside the flying ship?

      (2) I started the mod with a level 9 character and the khajiit bandits in the very first area were level 25! Which turned out to not be a problem because the khajiit I was travelling with killed them for me. However, the mooncow reacted to my friendly fire and would not stop attacking.
Lots of issues right from the start, IMO. You *can* cheese a lot of the fights with stealth but I'm pretty sure that is not intended.

(3)It is impossible to sneak attack an Elder spider from behind with a dagger. Looks like the collision box is too small somehow. I can sneak-walk right into it (pushing it) from behind and it won't react. I can swing my dagger but it won't connect.

You could maybe try adding a dialogue condition that checks for completion of The Way of the Voice and/or character level before the khajiit will offer the relevant quest-starting dialogue. No additional dialogue required that way.

I suggest having the two quest NPCs currently in Falkreath randomly wander Skyrim. The quest can then be started when the player speaks to one of them, and then the next time you get to Dead Man's Drink, they'll be waiting there for you.
Also, move the carriage outside, near the stables. Then there's less compatibility issues with mods that overhaul the inn.

In addition to that please add compatibility for Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival by Chesko. A lot of people in the old moonpath thread say frostfall is incompatible with moonpath.

@burbibur: Wouldn't that pose much more compatibility issues with mods that modify Falkreath?

When I started this mod I noticed immediately a dialogue that could be used to impose conditions to limit when the mod 'proper' could begin.

All you need to do is add in two conditions to the conversation where you ask if you can go with them. (conversation takes place in the inn)

Add in conditions for player level and quest completed. (whichever quest you think should be done prior)

Obviously you also need to add in an unvoiced denial info for when you don't meet the requisites but a single unvoiced line isn't going to hurt that much. If you have audacity you can probably fairly easily find an appropriate voice file and tweak it a little within the vanilla bsa.

The Way of the Voice is still a very early quest, and my level 10 character got trounced. I had to reload a previous save.

Can you make this quest only start at level 20? I think that's ideal. It's the same level requirement as the quest Pieces of the Past, where a courier comes to give you a letter to visit the museum in Dawnstar. Maybe he can just have two letters? One for Elseweyr?

I just installed this along with your patch. went to the Inn as the marker indicated, but when I try to talk to the indicated person they do not respond to me at all. How can I fix this so they will talk to me so I can start the quest-line?

Just save and reload the game - it's a problem with the way Skyrim is hard-wired and comes with the original mod.

Nope! I'm just a guy who changed some of the text. You'll want Muppetpuppet, who made the original Moonpath mod, for that.

I realize this is a couple years old, but Moonpath to Elsweyr is now completely integrated in to "Legacy of the Dragonborn" and I was wondering of you were ever going to make a LotD version/patch.

Someone else has requested this - I actually discovered some time ago that this mod was already included in Legacy of the Dragonborn along with Moonpath without my knowledge. I've spoken with the mod author and while it did irk me (excellent word that, irk), it seemed silly to get him to remove it as my own version wouldn't be compatible with LotD anyway. As for a patch for Legacy of the Dragonborn as a whole, it's something I might consider, but as I don't use it myself it wouldn't really benefit me to make one. Also, it's still being regularly updated, which would make maintaining compatibility a nightmare.

That said, if you can speak English, can use a computer and have a weekend to spare, there's literally nothing to stop you from making a typo patch yourself! Would be nice to have some help in my crusade!

Well, kind of a dick move I suppose, but I must admit that I'm happy that the version I'll see in LotD already has your improvements built-in. Thanks for the response.

Okey, im back to play this mod again. On a scale of 0 to 10, rate this mod DEPENDING ON THE ISSUES/BUGS/GLITCHES you have encountered.
10 being - Unplayable (always glitchy/buggy and many issues)
1 being - few very minor.
0 being - none at all.
Because i can not find a good review of this mod depending on its current state. So your review might help me and others. Answer wisely.

Without my typo patch, I'd put Moonpath at a 5, as the spelling and grammar mistakes are numerous and immersion-breaking. With it... maybe a 2? But to be honest, your best bet is to download it and give it a try, rather than trying to encourage the internet at large to score it.

Just some feedback, for those of us already near our 255 mod limit...I love this concept and commend the time and effort you must of put into it but I think adding a additional ESP like this isn't worth it for grammatical errors. If this ESP took the place of the original so I could unclick it and select your's then this would be amazing. I'm not sure how difficult this would be though. Regardless, thank you for your hard work. I do appreciate it.

Hi Mumnoch, as a heavy mod-user myself, I feel your pain. However, I can't see a way to do that apart from re-hosting the whole Moonpath mod here with my changes included, something I can't do as the rights to the original mod are exclusively Muppetpuppet's. What is possible is for me to combine all my typo patches for the various mods I've covered/plan to cover into one ESP, which would make things a little easier for people like you. J
