Does this mod replace the original blade of woe or is this just another blade of woe?

For anyone else wanting this mod for Special Edition - I have messaged theycallmecheese to obtain permission to port and reupload this for SSE. You should be able to find it on the Special Edition nexus now.

Thanks to katcher12 on this post page for instructions - I have managed to put things together to work for SSE.

ATTENTION ALL THAT COME ACROSS THIS MOD AND READ THE COMMENTS: This mod works 100% on Skyrim Special Edition(both replacer only and plugin) but you will need to fix the base texture BladeofWoe.dds as it will cause the game to CTD on render of the weapon otherwise. I will teach you how to do that. (you'll need to unpack the BSA of the plugin if you use that as the old BSA format DOES NOT work with SSE. You can keep the files loose or repack them with Creationkit for SSE if you so desire)

    How to fix BladeofWoe.dds:
    - You need Gimp (https://www.gimp.org/) with the dds plugin (https://code.google.com/archive/p/gimp-dds/). Take the 64bit version.
    - Open BladeofWoe.dds and uncheck "Load Mipmaps" (we'll need to generate new ones)
    - Export over the original file (File-->Export As). In the Window that pops up select compression BC3/DXT5 and "Generate mipmaps".
    - Close the image. Select " Discard Changes" when the program asks to save the image. We already exported it so we don't need to save the changes in the Gimp format.'

And that's it. I'd suggest also running the meshes through Ousnius' SSE Nif Optimiser available over at the Special Edition Nexus. This will just prevent any rendering issues you may have.

Please also repsect the Mod Author and DO NOT reupload this mod. Only use the steps I have given to enable the mod for your on personal usage. Please don't be that guy.

Well, couldn't you just pm me a link with a SE re-packed version? You're not distributing it that way, just giving something you port for personal use to a "stranger-friend" on the internet? ^^

Considering that this mod is basically non functional for most users, I'm not so sure that re-uploading shouldn't be done. In this case, re-uploading is not about trying to take credit for someone else's work. I would see it as artwork restoration.

Hello everyone - for those of you who do not want to figure out how to do this yourself, I have obtained the original mod author's permission and thanks to these instructions I have been able to package a new version for SSE.

I hope you like it and that it works well!

nice mod...why is it so big?I have my dagger on my back and this looks more like a short sword then a dagger.

The original Blade of Woe was always big, daggers are not knives, or else it would be called Knife of Woe

Errr, just so you know, the only difference really between a 'dagger' and a 'knife' is that a dagger is double-edged, while a knife is edged only on one side. It has nothing to do with size.

Actually, the difference between knives and daggers are that daggers are symmetrical, whereas knives are not. Most of what are called daggers in Skyrim are not actually daggers. It has nothing to do with the number of bladed edges. Also, generally speaking, most daggers are larger/longer than most knives.

BP98, that's also not even true lol. Daggers primary purpose is to stab, so the prerequisites of a dagger are 1. A tapered blade coming to a tip, and 2. Sharp edges. If you don't have 2 sharp edges, you lose stabbing efficiency lol.
