I cleared the skys and set frequency to 15 secs and watched the night sky for several in-game hours. I thought I noticed a couple of streaks here and there but nothing really noticeable or clearly being a shooting star. I did the usual fixes; uninstall reinstall - move lower in mod order etc. Same result. I am almost positive I have no other mods that would conflict so I am wondering why I am not getting the effects that others have described here.
Isoku, you are a great mod author (I use several of your other mods with no problems whatsoever). I thank you for your unselfishness in sharing these gems with the rest of us so we can enhance our Skyrim experience. Please keep up the good work and know that you have our support 100%.
This is a late reply but I don't think you guys are suffering an issue. The stars are extremely small and hard to notice. You have to have a completely cloudless sky and just stare at it for a good 5-10 minutes before you spot a tiny star dashing across the sky. The effect is very underwhelming.
(No offense to isoku as I respect his intentions for the mod, it's just not very exciting for me personally.)
Are both this and the 'Rainbows' mod relatively light in terms of scripting and both *very* stable/safe? Reason I ask is that I still have many, many hours to put into my game (and many invested already); last thing I want to do is install a couple of mods which might cause anything to break in future. Both look great though which is why I'm very tempted .
(one last thing - are the meteor storms/showers just more shooting stars or an additional effect?)
Yes I would consider both these mods to be very stable and compatible. The shooting stars mod has 5 scripts and the rainbows mod has 8 scripts. As far as how 'light' they are or how often they run I have no idea. I've had these 2 mods installed for months and I too am VERY picky about what I load. I now have literally 8 months of time invested in my current playthrough (level 46 now only because I've installed all the major quest mods). I have about 315 mods installed and about 247 plugins. I've created home grown patches to make this all work together. My game is absolutely rock solid; I only have a CTD maybe once every 12 hours of playing, and it's usually in a game world from a mod (e.g. Moonpath to Elsweyr or The Fifth Gate).
Concerning the meteor showers: I've only seen one by chance when I was exiting an inn. I got a message in the upper left about the event which was nice because I would not have known about it. So I watched the sky and the shower was similar to one IRL, i.e. every couple seconds I saw a 'regular' shooting star. So the frequency is just turned up for showers, nothing else. I was disappointed that it only seemed to last for a few minutes though. It seems like it should have lasted for several hours like IRL. FWIW I had my timescale set to 8.
As a test I set the frequency to 15 seconds and my FOV to 110 ("FOV 110" in the console) and watched the sky. It took about 3 or 4 minutes till I saw one.
Be sure to check the "Current Conditions" in the MCM (see the screenshot above) to make sure it says "There is a good chance of seeing shooting stars tonight". When I first checked it I was told that conditions weren't good enough to see any stars; I checked before it was fully night and it was partially overcast.
I love this mod, but I've recently uninstalled it. I had to many mods, sorry! However, after uninstalling, the Shooting Stars configuration page still shows up on the mod config page of SkyUI, though its blank with no options. Anyone know how I could get it removed?
You can easily remove it with Save game script cleaner. And I recommend you keep it it for when you decide to remove scripted mods. Watch the video in the mod description for instructions it's really easy and useful.
I've used that already. Always do after removing mods. But for some reason, it's still there. I even tried manually looking through the scripts to see if anything was there, and couldn't find anything referencing Shooting Stars. Not sure how to fix it!
A suggestion for an add-on of future version if I may:
Comets! Where The Hell Are The Comets? Even some like the red one from Game Of Thrones. I'd Pay to see that, honestly!
Variable sizes of shooting stars, with subtle coloration variations added to them as well.
On rare occasions, a very large meteorite with a very rare chance of recovering a magical rock, who's ingredients can be used maybe like a sigil stone from Oblivion.
Semi-serious phenomena in the sky such as portals and orbs, like the event a year or two ago that took place over the dome in Jerusalem and made world news. - Check YouTube for the footage of the orb and the spiral/portal in the sky. Real or not, its still captivating and ominous.
I do not have the talent to make this stuff, I'm just a Help-Desk Tech Level II, on my way to Network Admin. I would pay to see something like this.
I think that would be cool too! But it would need to be REALLY RARE. Like Rainbows in the Rainbows mod. I've only seen 3 rainbows in 7 months of playing Skyrim.
This is now a permanent part of my Skyrim experience. This is such a wonderful addition to an already magical game, and perfectly executed by the author with no excessive fireworks or craziness. I've been playing for like 5 months and the ONE meteor shower I've seen so far was spectacular, even more so for its rarity. Like other commenters I also think it would be cool to have some more variety in size/color of meteors. And adding comets - maybe visible at night for a few days or weeks - would be amazing.
But I don't want those suggestions to take anything away from my two-thumbs-up, enthusiastic review of this excellent mod. I've been leaving those little leaflets all over Skyrim. Thank you.

Thanks very much for the reply - Just what I was hoping to hear . Will go ahead and install both mods in that case.
Cheers!

And I love if some fell from the sk-[crash]

Edit - The esp is too much for me to understand at this time, but recoloring for me, is doable.
