So, I've finally managed to get this ported and it is working but there are several known issues, 1. Possible black face bug - will need to fix facegen data for the main npc 2. Dungeon needs testing on both difficulties to ensure it's working properly if the player chooses that path 3. Possible issue where items will be floating through out the house or thrown all over the floor. 4. Lighting issues that will need looked at including some flickering in certain areas. Perhaps an updated JIT lighting update. 5. using the tesseract key to summon the gate may cause the mod to freeze / hang and lock you out of any character movement requiring a restart.
I am still not ready to push this out yet as no one has yet to get BSC's approval or permission and there's still a lot of work to do. If all else fails, I will use this project as a foundation for my own and move forward with it's creation. I want you all to know that I am BRAND NEW to modding, so don't expect anything.
If anyone is still using this excellent home - you should be - and is stuck trying to open the "secret room", here's the damn spoiler:
Find the second journal on the desk in the master bedroom. Reading it should start the quest. If it dosen't, drop the book, pick it up, and read it again. That should kickstart the quest.
The Core Key is a tiny golden dwemer tonal key sitting on the mechanisiam in Alftland that opens the stairway to Blackreach. Real easy to miss. Using the pedistal with the Core Key in inventory gives you a new menu entry.
Hope that helps. Even with the TARDIS and the Instant Fortress, and after a decade of mods, this is still one of the best portable homes ever made. Go DL it; why are you still reading this crap?
Edit: After considetable testing, I have come to the conclusion that this quest is compleatly unstable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dosn't. Even waiting until you have cleared Blackreach before reading the second journal is no garauntee of success. And if the quest does not trigger, you can't fix it. Setstage, spawning the key manually, nothing works. It's dead, Jim.
An unsightly blotch upon an otherwise superb work.
To anyone watching this thread, I have ported the mod over to SSE fully and it's working without issue at the moment. However, until I get a reply from BC saying I have their permission, I wont be uploading it to the SSE nexus. If I get permission, than this will be my first mod upload and I do intend to support issues with the mod moving forward. The version I''ll be porting is 1.8, but again, only when BC gives me permission to do so.
Check his activity, Uploaded The Tesseract 2012!!! Hasnt been active since 28 July 2017, 4:35AM. Practically the only thing BSC did was make this mod and nothing at all except a few a friend requests. Your better off renaming it or throwing $20 at him to get his attention. I really want this mod in my playlist but Im not gonna wait for him to respond either. If you could maybe make a mini guide of how you converted it as your next reply that would be awesome! There ALOT of Oldrim mods that people are begging for and what usually ends up happening is people just post how to convert them over in these post sections since LOT of modders just NEVER return.
Agreed. I miss having this mod in the new Skyrim SE. The author hasn't been around in years, so a guide on how to properly port this mod to newrim would be amazing.
It's been over a year. If you'd like, I'd love to help you stylize this port and make it something of its own thing. I've had some ideas in mind for awhile now on things that I'd like to do to the mod. It's my favorite house mod - and I've been playing with it since 2012 lmao. Did a shoddy port of it awhile ago, but I want an updated version with some more flair added to it. There are plenty of visual things that could be done, and plenty of tweaks to the current features of the mod that could really go a long way for it. The quests for the ring and access to the hidden chamber should be more... Interesting. Finding a strange ring on the finger of a dead mage is cool and all, but this is a POCKET DWARVEN DIMENSION. Seems like almost something you'd tailor to the Aetherium quests/locations or possibly its own Dwarven ruin in Blackreach. The little optional dungeon that you can go through right now I always skipped due to its... Um... Quality. The rooms could use some expanding, considering the follower tweaks available now that weren't when this mod came to light. It's also missing some dwarven automaton guards - a thing I'm still surprised wasn't included in the original mod. I would also love to make the feel of the house more vast; the floor plan of the Tesseract is all over the place and pretty cramped. I'm not much of a modder or anything, but this would be as good of a project as any to get my hands dirty and learn a few things pertaining to the creation kit and scripting. Hit me up if you want to do anything like that.
I converted this mod to SSE for my own personal use following Langeston's excellent write-up at: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17990. It seems to work just peachy keen. I've never used the full Tesseract, mainly keeping it as an easy place to store stuff and do crafting. My needs came through the conversion just fine.
If you want the Tesseract badly, take the few minutes to run through the conversion process. It's pretty easy. The most onerous step of the process is jumping through Bethesda's hoops to install the Creation Kit (which really isn't *that* onerous)— and thankfully you don't actually have to use the Creation Kit much.
You have to activate the central cube thingy with the orb found in Blackreach. If you don't have the orb, look around for a "second journal" to get started.
Wow. Talk about a cool place to hang! This sprawling fortress literaly has everything; a trophy room like a museum, all the crafting amenities, all kinds of storage, and a bunch of special stuff besides. There's an embarrassement of riches stashed about the place, knowlage as well as coin.
If this home has a single fault, it's that it's TOO big. Dosen't take a minuite to get lost, wandering the halls of this palatial dwemer construction. Maybe that's just me. I must admit, I perfer this mod's insperation, Kagernak's Instant Fortress. Same feel, but a fraction of the size. I like cozy.
Reguardless, if you're a fan of portable homes and pocket dimensions, you won't go wrong with the Tesseract. Enthusiastically endorsed!
just posting to say there is still a demand for this home. in the sense that if it were available on SE, i'd download and use it...not in the sense that i'm actually demanding that anything be done .
