What do you mean by 'fluffy patch'? The only 'fluffy animals' mod for LE is FusaFusa. Will the patch work with that, or is it meant for one of the various se-only 'fluffy animals' mods?
On a side note (which I'm posting here since I rarely get a response on the forums), I'm honestly sick and tired of all the 'incomplete' creature mods out there. After all these years, we still don't have decent replacers for Skytest's new animal variants, animallica still doesn't have custom loot, the skytest integeration project still doesn't tweak animal stats so they're in line with the changes skytest brings to animals, beasts of tamriel is in bad need of updated models, no animal mod brings its full set of changes to solsteim EVER, the list goes on.
Why must we live with wonderful mods that never get finished? I would 'finish' them myself if I had the skills, but sadly I do not. I would love to make my own skytest replacer with the realistic bears project, but I'm hesitant to since it doesn't change the mounted heads, and honestly I don't have much hopes that we'll ever see it, or more from that same mod author.
I've always loved skytest, and intend to play with it again some day, but I used to expect its features to be finished. That's obviously never having, and I'm not sure I could stand the polygon-mess that the new animal variants are anymore. I've been tempted to make patches that just disable all the 'incomplete stuff', like the young animals. I even thought about making my own 'lite' mod from the current version, so at least those AI patches over on the integration project will actually be usable without consistency issues. Of course, the mods it patches are also 'incomplete'. It just seems we can't have nice creature mods. Why must it still be the weakest modding category in all of skyrim after a full decade? Why hasn't a single person at least released a custom voiced mod that makes it so you can finally encounter npcs in the game that actually mention some of the new additions? Mihail I think is/was planning that, though he switches between projects so fast I don't have much confidence it or anything else he does is coming out any time soon. I've been waiting for him to re-release all his monsters that were included in the SE Monster Mash, but I would be surprised if they did at this point (he doesn't seem interested in re-releasing his old animal mods either). And no, I can't backport the meshes myself because I have one of those garbage computers where mesh porting programs do not work. Fml...
At least we have your mods I guess, for what that's work. You're the best creature mod author we have these days, even though like me you seem limited to using other people's models.
Sorry for the tirade, I just needed to get it off my chest. Don't know if this will ever receive a reply or not, but at least I got to express my frustrations SOMEWHERE. Here's hoping someone will make a sabrecat replacer like the realistic bears project, among various other things obviously.
There's a link to the mod that the 'fluffy' patch is for on the description page. You should take that passion and energy and make your own mod. My.02 worth.
I'm not seeing this link, unless you mean that 'real elk' mod which as best as I can tell isn't a 'fluffy' mod. Also, the SE version seems to suggest it was meant for fluffworks, a mod that's not available for LE.
And I assure you, if I could I would make my own assets. I can't even make a decent looking head with the in-game character creation. I don't even use racemenu because it only makes things even worse for me. Of course, for me drawing a straight line with a ruler has always been a physical challenge (I suspect I may have whats called dysgrahia, though I've never been officially diagnosed with, but descriptions I've read of it sounds exactly like the problems I've had my whole life). Point is, if I could do it I would. I have dabbled in my own mods, though I'm limited to using other people's assets. Regarding Skytest, I was contemplating taking some of the baby animals from real wildlife and making a replacer with that. This was before realistic bears came out though, which honestly I much prefer. Like I said, it doesn't have models for the mounted heads, and honestly I'd rather have a complete set for all the appropriate animals. In the past such things did come tend to come out, but here I don't have much hope for that. Such is the nature of modding. Oh, and my creation kit refuses to compile any scripts I make too. I'm literally limited to making esp edits. Yeah, I got a lot of problems.
At the same time, I'm highly reluctant to make requests. People tend to blast you for being 'entitled' if you do that. Besides, lets be real, how often do requests get fulfilled? If you seriously went through the trouble of learning to make mods, its probably because you had your own ideas in mind before hand. I have thought of something though that I've never seen anyone else do and would actually address some limitations people have been struggling with, but again I'm reluctant to blurt it out. Besides, its of an adult nature and I don't see too many people making 'adult' requests on the forum here.
So, this comes with its own 'fluffy' patch. However, Real Elks doesn't have its own meshes at all; it instead has some textures that are meant to be used with the fusa fusa project. Literally all its files are just textures (.dds files).
Obviously, I'm not used to fluffy mods. I've never used them because like skytest they don't work with any mods that add in new animals, and that includes skytest. Also, I don't see myself making my own patch because the baby animals of skytest require their own unique mesh separate from the adult animals, and I have know way to produce such. I wouldn't even know how to change the scale of a model. Granted, I could probably do it, but I have no clue how. Literally all I know how to do with nifskope is change textures. Some time ago I did make my own patch for RS children and Cutting Room Floor, but that didn't require me to make manual edits to a mesh. That's the closest I've ever come to making my own mesh. Being limited is so frustrating. Ever since I started modding this game I wished I could just mix-and-match features from mods I liked, but I've always just lacked the skills and tools to do it. Like I said, I can't even edit scripts because of my buggy creation kit. I literally can't even do that simple stupid edit to Immersive Armor's script that fixes the issues with Ulfric's gag. I can't compile it, or anything for that matter. I found out through an external program that the reason for THAT is because I'm missing certain files that THE CK SHOULD COME WITH. And no, I don't mean just the ones that you have to manually 'install' yourself. I mean some file that should be in the CK already but isn't. I've long noticed that half its features straight don't work for me (world edits in particular do nothing, I have to make them through TES5Edit which obviously isn't too convenient). And no, re-installing the creation kit doesn't fix this issue. Why is my CK so glitchy? Nobody knows, in fact I can find no evidence of anyone else having the same issue. I've had the stupid CK generate empty esp files. In fact, I was actually making use of that for a time before I figured out how to do it with xEdit. Yeah, fml. I do often wish I was less dependent on other modders, but despite my efforts there's not much I can do about that. I even had issues making my own expansion mod for Skytest. In particular, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the ducklings wouldn't follow their mothers around despite having the AI to do so. The ducks were also silent as death unless I had the mod I took their models and sound files from installed. Of course, I decided it was sorta moot anyway since I highly doubt I could get permission for all the assets I was planning to use (most of them came from mihail's mods that he's since hidden, though a couple also came from skinwalker and whoever made animallica among various other miscellaneous mod authors). Yeah, I've honestly tried, but I just don't have the skills to do it all.
Sorry for the tirade again, I just have a lot on my chest regarding modding. As I said, I really wish I could do more on my own, but I cannot. Maybe I should look up a guide on how to make a creature mod. Maybe that will help me figure out the 'silent duck' issue. Also, I did ask etayorius himself once in help figuring out how Skytest Realistic Animals and Predators worked. He admitted to me that even he didn't get how it worked anymore. Fun times. And no, Skytest has no scripts. They have the package files that I think makes chicks and goslings follow their parents around, they just don't work for ducks for some reason even though all other packages work fine without a hitch. What the crap?
OMG this is just what I've been looking for since long ago. There has never been any improved textures for pelts and hides in the nexus. I wish there was one for bear pelts too.
