About this mod

Tired of clothing magically changing into a totally different design just because of the gender of the character wearing it? Fret no more! This mod adds new matching versions for the two sets of mourner's clothes, vampire robes and tunic, and the wench/tavern outfit. Now what you see IS what you get...no matter who puts it on! Now for LE!

Original Mod Description:

I like when things match.
I like when what I see in my inventory (or the chest I'm rummaging through, or the corpse I'm looting, etc) looks at least close to the end result of what's going to show up on my character or follower when I equip it. To that end, I've reshaped the meshes of the vanilla mourner's clothes and vampire robes and wench outfit/tavern tunic to create matching versions for all of them. I also made male matches for the wench boots and made matches for and split the vampire hood out into both a short and a long version. I additionally adjusted the original long female hood so that it would fit both versions of the robes and adjusted the female wench boots to fit with other clothes (e.g. the new wench tunic) with less clipping.

You can find one of each new/altered item in the Sack of Old Clothes in the rowboat at Icewater Jetty.

*Note that for once I did not create a proper matching ground model for the wench outfit, because I did not want to "break" the shelf that holds one of the rare sets you can acquire for the player to wear by massively changing the shape of the item! Instead I added the necklace and bracelet to the ground model and removed the pouch, then renamed that outfit "tavern dress" so you can easily tell them apart in the inventory even though what you see with the wench dress won't be exactly what you get on the character.

Files Options:
  • Main File - pairs and adds matching versions for all vampire robes, mourner, and wench/tavern clothes.
  • Dresses Only - replaces all the vampire, mourner, and tavern tunics with dresses.
  • Pants Only - replaces all the vampire, mourner, and wench dresses with tunics/pants.
  • Reverse - swaps the dresses into trousers and the trousers into dresses; everyone's clothes are switched!
  • Flatter Bosoms - alternate female tunics/trousers with flatter chests. Install after any of the other files and overwrite.
  • Loose Files* - nothing but the meshes, suitable for use as a modder's resource (see permissions below).

*Note that because of the way Skyrim uses texture sets, some of these meshes in the loose files download are the same as those found in my Common Clothing mod, just renamed with different textures assigned. Ordinarily the same meshes would be used for both outfits with different texture sets assigned in the CK (which is what I did in the esps). However in the loose files download, I chose to re-name them and assign the textures directly in order to minimize potential compatibility/overwriting issues for users. They are the exact same meshes as those from the Common Clothes mod, so if you're using these loose files to build other mods you can use the CC meshes with the vanilla texture sets for those overlapping items instead if you prefer keeping your files smaller.

Compatibility:
No NPCs were directly altered. This mod will not affect facegen! However, because the clothes they wear have been altered, you will see NPCs in the new variations. New clothes have been added to the leveled lists as well, so you'll want to make yourself a bashed patch! Otherwise it should be compatible with everything, and since it's almost entirely using vanilla assets it will be improved automatically by any texture replacers you use.

There is some mesh-overlap with this and Common Clothing and your mod manager will consequently warn you of conflicts. They are the same meshes, so you can overwrite either one with the other without issue!

These outfits are worn by only a few NPCs in the game, so unlike with my Common Clothing mod you will only spot the new clothes occasionally. (Random vampire attacks will offer the most reliable sightings.) NPCs will draw these outfits from the leveled lists regardless of gender which means that sometime they'll be wearing the dress and sometimes they'll be wearing the pants...but you will see both dresses and pants on these NPCs regardless of their gender! (Yes, including the wench outfit.) That is 100% the point of this mod. Don't get angry when it happens!

If the idea of seeing men in dresses and women in pants bothers you, do not download this mod! All homophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic comments will be hidden and optionally reported and the offenders blocked. THERE WILL BE MEN IN DRESSES WITH THIS MOD. Don't download it if you don't want it!

Permissions: Mostly Open!
This is also a modder's resource! (I've included a "loose files" download that's just the new meshes.) Feel free to use these on your followers, for NPC overhauls, on characters in quests, new lands, dungeons, etc etc. You may include these assets directly in those mods and you do not need to require either the esp or the loose files downloads on this page as dependencies. (It is always nice to be credited, though. As simple as some of these look, most of them were quite finicky and required some effort to shape. I'm not going to come screaming for your 8000-line follower or DLC-sized new land mod to be taken down just because you forgot to mention where you got the outfit that Random Farmer A was wearing though, I promise! So don't hesitate to use them if you want them!)

All I ask is that if you're just uploading a variation or improvement of the outfits themselves (e.g. UNP or CBBE versions, retextures, etc) that you do it as a patch built onto this mod, or build your mod so it requires the loose files to be downloaded here, rather than a fully stand-alone upload. I've been
accused before of stealing part of someone else's mod because they (with my permission!) used assets I created and somebody didn't notice my name in the credits section. I'd rather avoid repeating that, which means that I'd like anyone who's seeing these as a primary element of a mod (rather than a side-asset) to have to come here and download something just so they know where it came from.

UNP/CBBE/UNPB/ETC ETC?
Sorry, no. These were all built for the vanilla body. I do not use body-mods myself so I've never bothered to learn how to use Bodyslide so I will not be making dedicated versions for UNP, CBBE, and so forth, sorry. You are welcome to make those yourself, and I will gladly host them here if you like. You may also upload those as patches yourself. I only ask that you upload those as a patch rather than a wholly stand-alone file. (See permissions above.)
