Small 1.70 update! This update can be installed on an existing save. All submods for D&B will continue working as before.

    Maintenance:
    - New MCM option: Added a "Restart" button in the MCM that will reboot all player functionalities related to this mod. Some users complained that after some time, the rain stopped cleaning their characters and that the hair reminders would stop. I can't reproduce it from my side, but this new option should come in handy for anyone facing something similar. Clicking the button will remove your current dirtiness level and return it back to Dirt1. The invisible spells and perks that Dirt and Blood uses as "background magic" for the systems to work will be removed and then re-added to the player. This will be like installing the mod for the first time on your save. Keep in mind that this only affects player-related functionalities.

    Bugfixes:
    - Certain ghosts bypassed my ghost-check (spooky!), allowing them to become bloody when hit. Well, no more! I've added an additional ghost-check failsafe that should keep those ghost-sheets as white as a frost troll's pelt.
    - Missing soap Texture: Soaps were giving an error in the Legendary Edition version, this should now be fixed.

    Textures Shoutout:
    - Not part of the update, but I strongly recommend checking out the amazing HD textures for Dirt and Blood by NolBear - I am currently using them and they're perfect. These textures are top quality and much better than mine. Go give NolBear some love! Thanks for the textures, you rock! <3

Thanks everyone for playing with Dirt & Blood and making me feel a little bit less crazy to still be playing Skyrim after so many years. If you enjoy this mod, you might also like my latest release Conditional Expressions. Thanks for being on the other side of the screen!

I encountered a problem where the showracemenu interface would pop up every once in a while, and even if I turned off the heat, the showracemenu interface would still pop up three times in a row.

I simply love this mod and can't imagine playing without it. Maintaining hygiene and the hair growth system, I feel that external factors really affect my character and the time that passes in the game.
This is definitely a Must have mod.
There is one thing that is not there, and I would like it to be, maybe it is, but I am blind. Can I give a command to Followers to start washing themselves at a given moment?

I'm really enjoying this mod; it does what it sets out to do, and it does it with high quality. I haven't encountered any bugs or oddities so far, but one thing that did annoy me was forgetting that I had the Washing power equipped, rather than Night Eye. After I wound up accidentally washing over dry land three separate times, I thought I'd take a look to see if I could add an "IsSwimming" condition somewhere, since I didn't see any MCM options for that condition specifically; the author even stated he wasn't going to implement that check to keep the mod lightweight, although I don't think one check to use a Power can be that intensive, so long as you don't spam it, right?

Anyway, in case someone else also wants to prevent inappropriate Washings, here's what I did:
In TES5Edit, find the mod's .esp, expand the Spells tab, and find the spell "Dirty_CleanYoSelf". For Effect #0, add a Condition with the Function "IsSwimming", Equal to 1, set to Run On a Reference, and set the Reference to PlayerRef. Now the Power won't fire unless your character is swimming.

So far I've only noticed one uncommon bug with this solution, namely that the first time I tested it, after the washing animation ended my character was standing in deep water as though it was shallow, and he was literally walking through water. It went away as soon as he got to shore, but I thought I'd mention it. In any case, I'd prefer to deal with that on rare occasions than accidentally wash myself in dry air.

Couls you make a Blood only version?
I want it to be compatible with Bathing in Skyrim
I know its kind a *censored* princess Queen like petition, and I'm not paying you but Its just that it messes so much with my merged load order and I barely have time.
Maybe Its just cutting out some stuff with tes5edit and easy. I dont know please help.

There is a version called 'Just Blood', though the blood comes and goes with health loss/gain instead of being washed off by water, which may not be what you're looking for... I know it didn't quite cut it for me because health regenerates so fast that I barely get to see the blood. I've tried tons of different ways to disable idle health regeneration, but nothing works... :(

Second that! I'm using both and it just keeps giving issues despite turning off dirt options in dirt and blood. The blood just won't wash off. Sometimes it works to wash over a dozen times lol, but it's a struggle. I like the options of BISSE more but I need the drama of all them blood 🙃✨

    I have a question tho.
When I open them textures (bloody, filthy) in Photoshop they look Plipped Vertically as compared to how the body textures normally look (like feet are normally atop, and leg parts are normally in the bottom half of the image).
Is that okay? I am asking because the textures are not seamless when they are on a character: thighs, wrists, neck, ancles - all the 'classy' seams are 'where they belong'.

Can you make this for Skyrim SE? Modmanager is telling me?

You have one or more plugins that are not form 44. They are:

    • Dirt and Blood - Dynamic Visuals.esp (form 43)

Form 43 (or lower) plugins are modules that were made for Skyrim LE (Oldrim) and have not been properly ported to Skyrim Special Edition, which uses form 44 plugins. This usually results in parts of the mod not working correctly.

To be converted, these plugins simply need to be opened and saved with the SSE Creation Kit but their presence can be an indication that a mod was not properly ported to SSE and so can potentially have additional issues.

good little mod, but will be even greater if will have 2 simple to realize features -

    1) Follower support (when you travelling with followers, they also can get dirty/cleaner same as player. for 3-4 NPC being tracked same as player i guess it will be no so much perfomance issue)
    2) option to play same bathing animation on any NPC with same cleaning effect as for player (will good for option to clean up follower or captured bandit), this is i guess will not very difficult
And if 1 feature is not so important (i can just using myself bat-file with pme-sme for Dirt effect for follower), 2 feature will be very good to allow player manualy (via dialogue "I think you need some bathing" or via same spell as for player, but for NPC targeting) forcing any NPC (possible any friendly NPC) to bath
