About this mod

New fine art painting for the mods Solitude Dome Paintings by fickji and Blue Palace Frescos by arthadion. Small changes for a big effect, hopefully.

I love the mods Solitude Dome Paintings and Blue Palace Frescos. Both mods add a tiny thing that makes a huge change: a bit of fine art in a fancy palace, but not framed art hanging from the walls, which for some reason annoys me greatly in Skyrim.

Unfortunately, the art selected for both mods was not to my taste. I think they are good choices, and well implemented, but they don't happen to be what I would like in my Blue Palace.

So I made this mod to simply overwrite the texture files from those mods with my own selections of fine art. I started small with some ocean and fantasy themed paintings in the dome by John William Waterhouse, and got some positive feedback. So I decided to expand the function a little to the frescos, and give more choices.

Installation

First, download and install the second main file from Solitude Dome Paintings. You don't need the fomod since you're replacing those selections.

Then, download and install the first main file from Blue Palace Frescos. I am personally using the stucco normal maps from the optional texture addon download in my game for all of the the fresco paintings. If it doesn't work out of the box with the old normals, I will upload some normals that work into the main file.

Finally, download and install the main file for this mod in the files tab. Then install any of the optional files, allowing them to overwrite the main file. In Mod Organizer, this is "Merge" not "Replace."

The main file contains the following paintings as textures:

Dome:

The Siren by John William Waterhouse
Circe Offering the Cup to Ulysses by John William Waterhouse
Gradlon's flight by Évariste Vital Luminais
Fight between Romans and Gauls by Évariste Vital Luminais

Frescoes:

The Music by Gustav Klimt
Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Gustav Klimt
Circe Invidiosa by John William Waterhouse
The Three Ages of Woman by Gustav Klimt (cropped to just mother and child)

Future plans:

Add a candle each beneath the two frescos that don't have them.
Upgrade the meager furnishings in the servants quarters so they belong in a palace.
Add a water feature or two. A tile mosaic koi pond never hurt anybody.
Add a walk-in Roman style bath in a new room.
Make suggestions. I will try to make it if I would use it in my own game.

Optional files:

The dome option 1:

The Siren by John William Waterhouse
The Magic Circle by John William Waterhouse
Lamia by John William Waterhouse
Circe Offering the Cup to Ulysses by John William Waterhouse

The dome option 2:

Siegfried und Brunnhilde by Charles Ernest Butler
Hylas and the Water Nymphs by Henrietta Rae

The dome option 3:

King Lear, Act I, Scene I by Edwin Austin Abbey

The dome option 4:

A selection of frescoes and tile mosaics from Pompeii and other Ancient Mediterranean ruins sites.

The dome option 5:

Fight between Romans and Gauls by Évariste Vital Luminais
Gradlon's flight by Évariste Vital Luminais
Goths cross a river by Évariste Vital Luminais
Captives by Évariste Vital Luminais

The last dome option:

A texture replacer of an ancient tile mosaic from Samarkand to repeat on all four sides. Looks nice with lots of blue. You can use it with the "Fourth Option" in the FOMOD for Solitude Dome Paintings, which has no esp.

Fresco option 1:

A Hamadryad by John William Waterhouse
King Lear, Goneril and Regan (Act I, Scene i) by Edwin Austin Abbey
Jason and Medea by John William Waterhouse
Hylas and the Water Nymphs by Henrietta Rae

Fresco option 2:

Fight between Romans and Gauls by Évariste Vital Luminais
Gradlon's flight by Évariste Vital Luminais
Goths cross a river by Évariste Vital Luminais
Captives by Évariste Vital Luminais
