Hi Nexus,

I've been working for quite some time on the latest release of Brows. I've had quite some misfortune with me, though. Some days ago while preparing my Skyrim installation folder for a fresh reinstallation of Skyrim (I do that time to time, kinda like reformatting your PC occasionally for better performance and stability) I received an update for NMM which I accepted, meanwhile I was currently uninstalling CreationKit through Steam. Well, something went completely wrong which resulted in my whole Skyrim installation folder to get deleted... And I mean everything, all folders and files; NMM's mod folder that contained my complete mod collection; all my optimized vanilla and DLC .bsa files and textures; all my customizations of various things, such as ENB settings and other .ini files. Also very frustrating were the loss of all my WIP mods and my WIP update on Brows.

Actually, the only things I still had from Skyrim were my original save game files and the generated .ini files which I also spend quite some time customizing, so happy I didn't lose those.

My Skyrim game is almost how it was before this unfortunate incident – maybe lacking a few unidentified mods and textures I couldn't tell from my save games. I had to start a new character though, as the incompatibilities and problems started to pile up with the recent release of Dragonborn DLC (it was a fairly old and mistreated save game though that has seen a lot).

Anyway, I kept cool considering how frustrating this was. I of course had to redo all my work on Brows since last update, which of course was really annoying, as there had been put a lot of boring work into it within the CK (duplicate, duplicate, duplicate...). I finally managed today to get back all I had lost though, after about 15-20 CK crashes...

So here it is, the latest Brows update which now features light and dark variations of all brows, a bunch of new brow styles (mostly requested) and complete repainted male brows. So, if you didn't pick up Brows before there's no excuse not to do so now.

Enjoy!

Yeah it is fairly common... could Skyrim use more than 3gb memory I'd never have any problems. But it was just meant to be.

Hmm... if I'm not mistaken it can use only 4GB. There use to be a mod that made Skyrim use that much, but Bethesda took it and made it part of the game, so it was no longer needed. Now Skyrim uses 4GB. I have 8GB of ram in my system, it would be nice if it would use at least 6GB, but that won't happen anytime soon.

I don't have a lot of mods, but if I could have Skyrim use 6GB, I wouldn't studder at all. I studder every time I play, and rarely I'll crash to desktop due to the problem we're talking about. I was actually in the process of doing a Dragonborn quest, some wizard guy wanted me to find this Black Book. Went into a dwemer place to get it, and instantly crashed - no error, or anything.

Sorry if that was kind of spoiling it... I tried to keep it simple and not say much about the quest.

I use a papyrus tweak I found on the Bethesda forums, and other heavy tweaks to my INIs. If I didn't, it wouldn't be as stable as it is. I have a computer that is only a little bit better than Console, not by much.

Yeah, I do the same more or less. I clean dirty mods with TES5Edit, clean all my .bsa archives and fix them, optimize all textures (DDSopt) and repack them in better compression (BSAopt). I use Wrye Bash for various reasons, but mostly for the bashed patch and other dynamic patches/mods such as automatic variants and ASIS. This has been a common practice for me since each tool became available. Some of the first things I did was getting Wrye Bash asap when it became available for Skyrim considering how much I've used it previously.

My game is perfectly smooth and all is fine, only problem is the occasional memory crash - but we should all experience that at one point.

Speaking of that, I actually just now had that happen lol

I actually took some time to try out Mod Organizer, and personally I like it - but it has 1 issue that becomes annoying and it only occurs when you have a lot of mods, no other mod managing software does that, and I've tried them all.

However, I was only trying Mod Organizer because I had a problem with NMM on the previous version that wouldn't let me use it anymore, even if I reinstalled it. Well when it received an update, it fixed it - so I went back to it, and no more frustration. Sometimes I still use Wrye Bash to tell me things that NMM isn't able to yet, and I use BOSS for more than just load order - but also to tell me what mods to clean with TES5Edit that aren't cleaned yet by the authors. I also cleaned the Update.esm and the DLC's esms following the guide on the internet and the game runs smoother as butter now - which it didn't use to.

I like Brows. I know before, I didn't like what I was seeing in some of the screenshots before I tried it in game - but I did actually try it in game and I love it. All of your mods are great, and I do use them all - literally every single one.

same thing here as well with the CK. That problem is absolutely absurd and is something Steam need to address. good job getting back on track man!

@ Cupressi: I've been manually downloading and managing mods since day one of Morrowind - so yeah, I think I should be able to handle it. But at the same time, that is why I'm finally happy to have a mod managing tool with company of WryeBash and BOSS. I'm almost OCD about proper installation of mods and keeping my folders clean of junk.

I currently have no reason to walk away from NMM - it provides all I need and am fairly happy with how it works. I am still not sure what caused my mishap, but at least I've learned to keep back-ups of something so silly, should it ever happen again.

Look into Mod Organizer. Far superior to NMM assuming you are capable of doing manual installs which I'm sure you are (though it supports 'download with manager' and install scripts). #1 feature is it keeps skyrim directory separate from mod directory so what you experienced can never happen.

Kudos on persevering through such an irritating obstacle! I'll definitely update my version of Brows.
