Still, there may yet be some trick up your sleeve, Jess.
Well done as always. Now on to the next, to see if Rathe stays dead.
Damn Damn Damn!
Brilliant work as always but OUCH! this hurts!
I will admit one thing though. A long time ago I was very close to your characters and would make some blunt comments because I was so close. However I realized I would not see a happy ending with your style (alas poor Nataly) and so I embraced the pain and have enjoyed the stories for what they are - very dark fantasy. However I did have to put a little distance between me and the characters so I would not feel as attached. I do that in real life actually; some think me rather cold when something really bad happens but its a defense mechanism. Anyhow way TMI I know just wanted to point out it let me enjoy your stories for what they are without suffering to much of my own angst ... worrying about all the poor characters knowing I could nothing about it lol.
Anyhow going to move along with brief comments on the other chapters and then see you again on the ending!
I honestly did not think you could kill him off...... damn jess......... whyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!
Great shots and amazing story....... on to the next with hope maybe there might be a way...........
But.
Shit.
Came back to re-read, somewhat reminiscing how I felt when I killed off Hildi in my previous tale.
But damn. Rathe dead.
I am having so many mixed emotions inside of me now, esecially since it was his tale that captured me first on Nexus and got me writing from the start.
Makes me tempted to pick up Frigga and Isaac again.
DAMN YOU JESS.
great story jess
the fight scene was amazing and very well written ...
why the hell darius didnt even try to help him !!!
now i wonder what the last three chapters are going to be about ...hmm
Rathe's dead?? With yet 3 more chapters to go??? What a cruel and vicious twist of fate this was....
(All the same, knowing you, Jess, ^^ I kinda suspected something like this was fated to occur....)
I loved the description of "a look that would shred Molag Bal's innards...." LMAO!
....And the eloquent depiction of the "house-cleaning" that ensued as they strode into the "Red" ^^ Rose to dance and deal an elegant and fast "Waltz of Death" to all hostiles in plentiful proportions. ^^
I suspect that Darius just LET him die, possibly on Quin's whispered suggestion, while shedding a few "crocodile-tears" just to make it look good, and for what?!
Can't he see that Fleur will never be with him or EVER forgive him, just like what almost happened the last time he hesitated before healing him from the results of Arnbjorn's wrath?
Rathe was indeed pretty stupid to get too close to that harpy, and he paid DEARLY for his oversight....you'd think that a very talented Assassin like him would know better than to make a rookie mistake like that, his roiling emotions notwithstanding....
Meanwhile the whole building will be an inferno within mere moments....what will the vengeful party do now, especially since Riften's City Watch AND Fire-Brigade are MOST certainly alerted by and quickly responding to this massive and very LOUD "rumble"??
All those poor girls pouring out the doors, running for their lives and screaming hysterically...."cops tend to notice sh*t like that!" (To borrow a line from "Pulp Fiction" )
I really do hope that they can STILL find a way to bring Rathe back and save him....after ALL that he's been through, he (together with Fleur) is the LEAST of all deserving to die now.
Endorsed. Kind thanks for such a powerful and heart-rending climax, Jess, and cheers, dear!
It is unfortunate that Rathe stepped too close to his sister in talking about her end, that twisted one making him underestimate her with a last few tears, still bent on revenge despite it taking her with it, truly nothing but the though of revenge filled that shell of what she was long ago. It is very sad to see Fleur's fear for Rathe, screaming for Darius to heal him though he knew he could do nothing for him, that even Darius shed tears for him, a heart wrenching moment. You weaved that emotion so well in this chapter making it vivid, I am curious as to what will unfold after this tragedy especially for fleur feeling such sorrow...
Seriously Jess, superbly crafted chapter.
*Strokes chin thoughtfully* Hmm. 3 chapters to go. What twists await us?
