For those who have install issues: GME installs this into the Sacred 2 folder instead of the "pak" folder. After GME installs the mod, simply navigated to the Sacred 2 install folder (same folder JSGME app should be in; MODS, pak, redist, scripts, etc. should all be visible subfolders) and you will see Reduced Fog folder. Open that folder, and navigate until you see a "pak" folder. Open that folder and then place the "hq" folder inside the Sacred 2 "pak" folder from earlier.
Or, don't use GME, and simply extract the "hq" sub-folder to the Sacred 2 "pak" folder.
I do not know if GME usually re-zips stuff after - all of my other mods installed correctly and are zip files within my "pak" folder, "hq" is not. But it works and I doubt modern PCs will have any issues.
This might be a longshot.... but, it doesn't do anything for my game, what it does do when installed as suggested is add a folder into the main directory called *S2 Fog Mod* inside the folder is a copy of what the mod has in it. Nothing changes in-game. Nvidia GTX 1060, I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I doubt it.
It's not installed correctly. The folder titled "Reduced Fog Mod" should be sitting directly in your MODS folder. From there, the mod enabler will copy the contents of that folder (a "pak" folder) into your game's install directory. I'll see about cleaning up the instructions.
Nothing matters, Used GME, Placed Directly into pak file system, nothing, also IMP on Character Creation is not there. This was all done with a blank install, Only CM and Only JSGME, Dunno, I think it's the "Elite Textures" I think they didn't include them because they are buggy.
Also sometimes, and this is nothing to do with this mod or nuffin, sometimes the Open Net portion doesn't load the game, sometimes, only when I install this mod. :)
cool mod, thanks. Is it possible to increase visibility? Because when the fog disappears, it's clear that visibility is limited. Maybe it would be better to leave a bit of fog so that the short visibility distance isn't noticeable. Taman is part of the game, at least a little should be.
Wow, I really didn't notice before that Sacred 2 doesn't have a sky:) I don't know the correct term for all of this, but I noticed that there is something resembling a wall of fog color covering the entire horizon. However, the fog in the air, like volumetric fog, is completely absent except for the wall I mentioned. If I'm not mistaken, this wall plays the role of the fog you're talking about?
That's right. The fog textures are semi-transparent, more transparent on one side (closer to the player) and more opaque on the other (further away from the player). There are fog textures for each color of the sky so yes, the more opaque part of the fog basically becomes the sky. I just uniformly increased the transparency across all the textures to create this mod.
There should be no conflicts there. Double-check your folder structure. After enabling you'll want to see the reduced fog textures sitting in your game's pak folder.
Uuuuuuhm...... holy no ways, I thought this was impossible! I remember reading so many people asking for something like this and.... and you did it! I can't believe this exists, best mod (with Enhanced Spells and CM Patch of course) ever. I'm beyond ecstatic, holy.... bless you, this is just the best!
it works wonders except maybe it's just a little too extreme
what do I mean ? well the way it is now, there is no fog whatsoever, so you see all the clipping from far away a very slight amount of far away fog would be best in my humble opinion
of course it would be even better if we could increase render distance but I'm afraid it's impossible xD
Thanks though. with this mod finally the dryad town looks amazing high up in the trees with all the vegatation down below !
>"there is no fog whatsoever" Not true, if there were no fog you would see nothing but blackness beyond the rendered landscape, as there is no sky at all. It's very surreal, like an old 3d game from the late 90's.
The fog textures are in fact only slightly thinned out. Any less and the difference wouldn't be noticeable enough to be worth the change.
