I can certainly see a difference. When you are looking at the "Original" and "Upscaled" still shots that WickedHorseMan posted, you can definitely see the difference in clarity in the upscaled shots - of course, some people don't notice a difference because they're not as picky as others. It's also possible that your monitor isn't up to par; but, if you look close enough, you can see the upscaled shots look slightly sharper and more clear.
In response to you feeling that western-era games should have a degree of "grainy" to the video, I can see that desire for authenticity. However, this is different - the change that is being made with the AI upscaling is more about removing the "blocky" artifacts that are more noticeable in lossy compressed videos. Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't really have a "grainy" effect anyway in their cutscenes, this is why the upscaling just looks better in general, it isn't removing any authenticity from them, it is just clearing up the artifacts from the lower-resolution videos. Like WickedHorseMan said, they don't want to touch the videos that are actually meant to appear authentic with the time period in the game (such as the movies you can watch at the theaters). Although, they could definitely be cleared up with the AI upscale, while still not touching the authenticity that comes with the old black and white projector movies from that time period. They would still have the grain, the flicker, etc., they would just be more "sharp".
Hopefully that all makes sense. This is a great mod; and I think the goal to upscale textures throughout the game would be a very popular idea, and one that would be very well received. Especially for those who have the higher-end hardware that could support a 4K texture upscale - heck, even a 2K upscale would be awesome.
Could you make AI upscaled versions for the TB scenes with Arthur seeing the deer or wolf(based on honor), this is so because when i remove the black bars it shows as a video file that's just playing and I want to fix that (what i mean is that i can play the game in the background but the video is obstructing the view)
Quite confused as to the folder structure of this using LML. The mods all come in an archive with a lml folder, and your install instructions say to put the lml folder in your lml folder in the RDR2 directory, which as far as I know would mean you have an lml folder within an lml folder, which surely isnt how any of this works. So you are to put the movies_0 folder in lml?
Hello there, I was a bit confused as to the installation instructions and file structure as well. I don't have a "replace" folder inside lml. Does this mean I should create one and then put the "movies" folder inside "replace" within lml? Or should I just put "movies_0" inside lml as previously mentioned above? Thank you for your time and great idea for this mod!
Your installation instructions are still incorrect though. It still reads: "Instructions: Lenny's Mod Loader RDR2 is required. Copy the lml folder from the each zip file to your lml folder in the RDR2 directory." No mention of the "replace" and your folder structure in your downloads also does NOT include the "replace" folder. You may want to fix that.

Also, I feel like the blurry images are supposed to represent the wild west's shitty camera resolution, not sure though.

Crashes to desktop upon loading into a game.
Thanks
I have an idea to redo all of these with new in-game shots and have them play during the loading screen too.
ex: Red Dead Redemption 2\lml\replace\movies_0\movies\...
