About this mod

Ver 4.1 adds all Ch2 stolen hats and letters, PLUS those cut from the game. "Grinding" done. All cig cards, 19/20 dreamcatchers, 9/10 rock carvings, and 28/30 dino bones (cougar armor trick used against sniper, so Arthur can finish the mission). Gambler, Herbalist done (again legit, no mods or SE), ALL (-1) random encounters still available.

NEWER NEW update: I think I got it right this time. Enjoy.

NEW warning: Ugh. It turns out that I tripped a well known glitch that causes the itty bitty Fundraiser mission in St. Denis to  permanently disappear (it's supposed to be available until the Epilogue). Whatever I did happened pretty early in chapter 2 so I'm going to have to do the rest all over again and reupload the full chapter yet again. I'll leave this upload up for now, but it's going to be replaced soon. Grrrr.

Warning: The first upload of V4 had 4 innocent kills and lower honor (neutral) because of a dumb mistake near the end of the chapter. I redid it and reuploaded it so chapter 2 ends with no innocent deaths and higher honor (about a third of the way to the max that you can get at that point in the game).

These are all the save files for the first two chapters, with gold medals on every one. My primary goal was to get grinding-type work out of the way without tripping any random encounters (except when Javier randomly finds you to help rescue Bill). For example, the arm amputation encounter that randomly appears around the Lakay and Lagras areas is still there despite the fact that I got all of the exotic flowers from that area for the Herbalist Challenge. That was a huge pain in the butt to avoid, but whenever something like that popped up and was counted as a random encounter, I backtracked. So you should be able to pick up the game at any point and still have an open world filled with all the random events that make up half the enjoyment of the game (IMO).

However, I still don't know if it "counts" when a random an encounter can be seen in the distance, heard, or seen on the radar or map (e.g. a dead body that is obviously one of the traps set by the Murfree Brood or Nite Folk). I'm worried that those traps with The Murfree Brood and Nite Folk will not reappear because that would make the notes on the hanging bodies unavailable, and in general I want you folks to be able to enjoy all of the random encounters. If anybody has any info on this or if there are any random encounters that you can't trigger after multiple attempts, please let me know and I'll go back to square 1.

This set of saves has the following main features:

  • I've got all the cigarette cards, all but 1 dreamcatcher (south of Elysian Pool), and all but 1 rock carving (eastside of Elysian Pool). The big change to version 4, is that I collected 28/30 dino bone locations, including all from New Austin. It turns out that it can be done, without mods or the save editor, by carrying a cougar and hiding your head from the sniper. That means you can actually finish the mission with Arthur (which tells me that Rockstar anticipated people doing this, otherwise they wouldn't have had the actor record Arthur's lines). I left 2 bones for you to get: the one north of Elysian Pool and the one near Van Horn. This way you can still get the quartz if you don't want to finish the mission yet. All of this is done in the 2nd Eastward Bound save file (SRDR30002).
  • As stated, I avoided random and fixed strangers and other such events like the plague so that you would have an untouched open world still to play. I will eventually be posting a complete set of every save file from the game, minus stranger missions, with the goal of getting to the end without tripping any random encounters besides the ones that you are forced to encounter along the way.
  • The Herbalist and Gambler Challenges are done. Herbalist is done and saved with the 2nd Eastward Bound save but there's a minimum of 2 story missions and half of a stranger mission that must be finished to complete the Gambler Challenge, so that is finished after "The Smell of the Grease Paint" (SRDR300006).
  • Finally, I added all the stolen hats that are immediately available in the beginning of the game, as well as all documents that you get from mugging and looting strangers. I used Save Editor to add hats and documents that were cut from the game. Some can actually be read, but others, like the family daguerreotype, can't be viewed and just show up in your satchel.

This time, I did not leave you with pile of cash. You'll only have what is approximately appropriate for the stage of the game you're in. Why? It's completely unnecessary. If you didn't know, $3000 in gold bars are immediately available in the beginning of the game, and I'm not talking about gold that requires treasure maps. There's one gold bar in the burned out town near camp, 2 in the train wreckage in Ambarino, and 3 in the Cave of Statues. You can head straight for them when chapter 2 starts.

I included the last mission from chapter 1 with the chapter 2 files because in order to get the item request for a pipe from Dutch, it seems like you can't even save and reload at the very beginning of chapter 2. You have to wait for him to start smoking a cigar in front of his tent before doing almost anything, other than talking to others in camp. I may be wrong, but this works for me. Same seems to go for getting the request in chapters 3 and 4.

This time, I did not add the Pronghorn Trinket yet. As I've said before, es stupido that you don't get it until the epilogue when you basically have no use for it. I plan to add it in chapter 3, since that seems fair. Let me know in the comments if you have an opinion (on any of this).

As before, I chose to let you get the last dreamcatcher so you can see what happens. It's the one nearest Elysian Pool.

The last rock carving won't appear until you've spoken to the Francis Sinclair and started "Geology for Beginners". The one I left is next to Elysian Pool. The same is true for the last dino bone and the spaz paleontologist.

The dino bones remaining are just north of Elysian Pool and near Van Horn. See a pattern there?

If there are any problems with the saves, please let me know. Also, if anybody has any requests for future customized save sets, or criticisms about this series of saves, please please please let me know about that too. Enjoy and thanks for downloading!

P.S. Stay tuned, because I'm not done here. I'm going to finish the entire game and update my most popular series of saves, All 6 Chapters and Epilogues - All Missions - All Gold - All Missables, with these changes and more!
