Do NPC horses also get buff? I didn't believe it at first but a Lemoyne Raider chased me during an ambush and it kept up with my MFT wanted to confirm if this is the case.
I'm using the hybrid version because I thought it'd be less cheaty and just more rewarding once I find a unique horses but im almost halfway through the game and I havent found one. What is a "unique" horse? I've googled and cant find any info about unique horses being given to the player or to be found in the game. All I can find is the rare breeds in the wilds but they're not 10/10
hiya maverick, massive fan of your work, incredibly grateful for all the things you bring to rdr2 ❤ this mod as well!!! I adore this mod so so much and being able to pick any horse without worrying about its health! but I had to quickly uninstall it cause I realised it affects npc horses too, making harder to outrun enemies D: is there any chance you can make a version that doesn't affect npcs?
I don't know how to do that since the stats are just universal afaik. That's why the main version of the mod edits only specific horses that NPCs don't use.
Ah, I see! Thank you for getting back to me so quick!! And sorry I didn't see it till now!!
Hmm, is it possible to release another version of this beautiful mod where the special horses have better overall stats + handling and then all other horses have better health while their speed & acceleration remain unchanged?
hiya maverick! I found a mod that teaches how to edit horse stats so I want to attempt it instead of bothering you with the high health thing c:
just wanted to ask if you made any other changes to the pedattributes file from this mod besides the stats? I want to include all changes from the file I downloaded from you then change the health! but when I open it, its a bunch of weird symbols and I can't cross check ;-;
If you have OpenIV, go to where the mod file is, right click on it and click 'Export to XML' Edit the exported file as you like, then rename the extension from xml to ymt and replace the original mod.
Oh thank you for the quick reply!! I don't have OpenIV unfortunately, I've tried to download it in the past and can't figure it out
Anyway, I just wanted to know if this mod edits anything else in the pedattributes file other than the horse stats so I don't need to change anything else?
No, nothing else changed. Side note: Exporting with OpenIV is what makes it readable instead of weird symbols as you said. If you don't plan on using exporting it and don't know how to edit it as it is now then wait and I'll make it soon.
Check the new file v1.4 (under Update files). Only special horses will have better speed, accel & handling, while all the other horses in the game will only get increased health and stamina.
Thank you for this mod. Is there any reason the Dapple Dark Gray Hungarian Halfbred wasn't included in the mod? As I understand it, this is also a breed/coat that only the player can own as you have to either buy it at a stable, or steal it from one of Strauss's debtors. If it meets your criteria, could you add it please? I know I can use the all horses version but I like the limited nature of the basic version.
I believe NPCs can still ride horses that you buy from stables. The horses I added in the main version were either one of a kind horses, dlc horses, or hybrid breeds, because I don't think NPCs ever ride these. I don't know for sure all the horses NPCs do or don't ride.
Does this decrease the fear in horses? and also the jumping distance and strength...not sure if they are attributes of a horse but i think some horses can jump farther than others etc....if no...do you know how to change these values?
It doesn't decrease fear in horses and doesn't change jumping. I'm unaware of any values that affect jumping tbh. Afaik horses don't have individual "fear" values. They all have the same agitation values, which are improved with bonding. Agitation affects how fast you can calm down a horse but doesn't make a horse immune to fear on its own.
I made a mode that makes Agitation go down super fast: Brave Horses, it works well for me.
I did find a way to make horses immune to fear and have worked on it for a while but couldn't make it work with all animals.
There's still no attribute that I'm aware of that affects jumping strength\distance, if horse size can affect it indirectly that's a different thing and I still don't know of a way to directly change it.
No, there is no hidden fear attribute I'm afraid, I looked for it a long time ago and did find a 'courage stat' but it doesn't work in the game. It looks to be that fear was a going to be in the game but was removed by the devs. Others did point out that certain factors such as horse size can also indirectly affect horse fear but that doesn't exactly help when it comes to modding.
Keep in mind that the game files are encrypted and parts of it aren't in a readable format, so there could be something but because it's not readable I won't know. I still tested as many of these as I can and never found a working fear stat.

In general give the mod's description a quick read.
