Contrary to popular belief, the replacement method does nothing to increase or bring back low priority spawns (the so-called streaming 'issue') or improve performance.
Unoptimized or memory-hefty mods is one reason for the game de-spawning what the R developers decided are low priority spawns (trains, ambient wildlife, etc). All the replacement method is, is more work, for a feeling caused by it being just that; more work. The assets will get streamed and replaced all the same. It's a matter of what is a priority to you; a modified game taking up more memory than vanilla, or low priority spawns.
Anyone that tries to sell you the 'replacement method' or some trending too-good-to-be-true spawn fix does so with a tinfoil hat on.
Hey! Does this work on DX12? I'm building a new mod setup around Dominators RDRII DX12 Enhanced, which, as the name implies, works with DX12. I think this should work, since, at least as far as I can tell from the description, all it does is increase some values, not screw with textures or anything, but I just want to make sure. Thank You!
After reading all the comments and then seeing that a fix was implemented for bison/bears I'm going to test this out and see if it is feasible I'll update this post with my findings for the record before install at 4k max settings with about 100gb of upscaled texture mods I'm getting 70-100fps with DLAA I hope this doesn't tank my fps this is the last thing I need to beautify my game
Fur in itself is expensive to render, and you'll notice a drop when standing close to any large animal in vanilla. Which is the only moment when it gets 'expensive'. The vanilla fur is optimized and held back for performance, so you're naturally de-optimizing the fur with this mod. You can choose at what level you'll de-optimize and instead beautify it, by choosing either the standard or light version. Measure the vanilla fps drops, then look at the description on the mod page telling you how much stuff have been multiplied, and you'll be able to figure out how much you'll lose at previously measured moments.
Any moments that gets big animals close to the camera. Another user among the comments here have already measured vanilla and modded standard/light, so feel free to look through them and see if you can find it.
alright I'm going to go hunting with hosea then guaranteed bear attack there I see most have 20 series cards I'm running a 4080 so I want to see the delta live
comments were about spot on as you said 53fps when the bear attacked with the standard one the light version got me down to 69fps in the same scene the light one is still better than the vanilla high option? if so that's the one I will stick with
So this mod seems to interfere with Whyem's DLC... I just loaded into the game where I should have one of the the Whyem's hairstyles only to find that my Aurthur's head is now shaved with a weird pattern, lol.
EDIT: Yes it has completely getting rid of all Whyem's changes.
EDIT2: Rearranging the order of the mods has fixed it.
I rearranged the order of the mods and put the Whyems mods above yours and its working now. Idk why they would've interfered with each other to begin with though, really weird. But all in all, nice mod!
Seems you missed the install instructions on the download page and/or the requirements popup. Click it, it takes you to the lml download page which explains how to install lml mods. You're already set.
