Version 2.0.1 has now been released with a small bugfix for the merge tool.
Version 2.0.0 is out now with many new features, including Nexus Mods API integration, which will allow you to check for conflicts with mods you haven't even downloaded yet! RDMT also offers download and install support for both ASI and LML mods from Nexus Mods (non-premium users must download through the Nexus Mods website - this is a decision made by Nexus Mods, not myself).
Also a gentle reminder that the merge tool is in BETA, meaning it is still in development. Do not expect every single merge to work perfectly. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and is what helps to improve this tool :D
04/04/2025 Sorry for the lack of communication and updates, I have been busy with University. I will release an update as soon as I can to fix some issues.
I was looking through the comments and the latest update is supposed to fix the freezing when trying to merge files. For example, you can load "File A" but when trying to load "File B" the app freezes. Tried running in admin mode for portable and installed version and had the same problem. Has anyone found a way around this freezing? The files I'm trying to merge are Red_Dead_Offline and More Pretty Guns' catalog_sp.ymt file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just in case anybody still has the "continue" issue when trying to launch the mod, make sure you have a LML mod loaded (and have loaded the game since installing just in case). Worked immedietly after.
Same issue for me. I've been following this recently uploaded "how to" modding guide and installed LML. I tried to do the troubleshooting things recommended below like running RDMT as admin, didn't work. Tried opening the game to story mode, loaded a save, exited, and run RDMT as admin, still didn't work. I haven't even begun to install any mods yet other than the ones up to step 2b in the modding guide.
EDIT: it randomly suddenly started working after a couple of Story Mode loads, for both Epilogue and Chapter 2 save files, after some mods were successfully installed. Maybe having mods installed was what triggered RDMT to suddenly work? Or it was downloading the Online Content Unlocker? I don't know. If you're still stuck with what to do, I'd honestly recommend using an AI tool like ChatGPT to help you troubleshoot - saves a lot of time, just as long as you know what you are talking about when it comes to modding terms and "PC talk."
Looking at task manager, it gets my cpu utilization to 100%, if that helps. I'm using the portable version, I'll check the install version and see if it works better
It doesn't make sense, from a certain point on, it always shows no conflict, but clearly there are the same files in the root directory. This is very confusing to me
What's confusing? Did you not see the multiple mentions that the mod is in Beta? It's gonna have bugs. Report them and move on, but there's nothing to be confused about...
i select the file 1 to merge (over 40mb) = ok, select the second file (less than 40mb) = ALWAYS freeze... tried selecting the SAME file 2 times = crash (software freezes, CPU goes crazy, just in case my CPU is i7 7700)
This mod is extremely clearly marked as in Beta. The "wtf" is unneccessary and rude. The polite way to ask would be "What do you think might be wrong?"
Heck, even if this wasn't in Beta, it's a completely free tool. Be polite people. No mod-maker owes you anything unless you paid for it.
after spamming the "always file A" or "always file B" button enough times the popup just doesnt come up anymore and the program stops doing anything....
i dont know how anyone works with this thing.... i cant even merge a file with 10k lines ....
also, why do we keep having to press ALWAYS file X? isnt the point so you click it once and forget about it?
EDIT: ok, i managed to get it to work for lighter tasks with smaller files. I guess it has some use.
Like other i cant pass the continue button, but also i have a copy of the game out of steam and if i choose that second path it let me continue just fine. It might be that the steam file path is to long fot the app... ??
When I check for conflicts, it tells me I have like 100 of them and every mod is in conflict with a mod called ".". Dont know what that mod is supposed to be
In 2025, not only do you have to open the game in story mode, you should have a save file. Once I saved the game to a save file slot, the Modding Tool worked properly.
Also had to run it in Administrator Mode because Windows requires it for C:\Program Files\ ?

Yeah though, my only problem so far is that adding a second ymt file to the merger freezes it for a bit.
