That's odd, it could be an issue with JMRE. Try switching to the John save without the models, save the game and reload with them to see if they are responsible for the issue
okay I just tried using the basic version of you mod without the neck fix and its still crashing when I load so I guess one of the other files is doing it
That's odd. You don't happen to have another mod that edits player_three.ymt or the player _manifest do you? If not try removing player_three_ms1_head_1000.ydd and ensure that there isn't another mod potentially causing problems
I realized I had project new austin installed which has a _manifest.ymf file so I tried without it but unfortunately it is still crashing, I did manage to get the neck seam to go away using the method you gave with another beta head file from nexus but its making his chest clip through his other outfits ;( thanks for the help Ill keep trying stuff

I found a solution. If u already have JMRP, don't delete it, as it is indeed the cause of the seam issue, but you can keep it if you don't want to lose the outfits and stuff. Instead, download Beta Head mod, which replaces the head with his beta model, and although they're the same heads, this one has a SIGNIFICANTLY less noticeable seam, only a tiny amount on the sides of the neck, no longer infront of the neck.
Does it crash immediately? I've been using the mod without issues so far so if there's an issue like that I would think it probably has to do with your installation or possibly another mod

you can fix it searching in the JMRE stream folder the same files: player_three_ms1_merge_4+hi.ytd player_three_ms1_merge_4.ytd then copy and past in Gloves + Pants + Rachel from this mod
It has nothing to do with the graphics API, try verifying the spelling of the files, make sure you got all of them, and you could also try dropping the torso files in LML > stream to ensure that they're being streamed
Yes I'm aware, I made it clear in the tutorial that as a result of not editing shop_items you would need to remove the torso models when playing as Arthur
Finally someone addresses the neck seam issue, however the YDD files you say to add to your mods John folder from the JMRE mod don't exist in the version you linked in the tutorial, please advise.
Thanks for the note, I'll continue looking for a working link to it but people may just have to wait for the mod to come out if you weren't able to get it during the limited release
I cannot because I do not have permission to use those models. The mod may have been taken down but I included a link to it in the tutorial that still works
I think the NPC holster requires the gunbelt and I didn't include the gunbelt because the belt buckle is flipped in a way that I think isn't physically possible.
The vest I left out for similar reasons because it just sort of juts out awkwardly and doesn't make sense but you can get the ydds for it in "The Classic Cowboy" if you really want.

He has a beta head that also has a broken seam, the NPC heads, and the one used in the final game and nothing else to my knowledge.
