The file has been updated to version 1.1.2. Please download the new file and replace your existing Rustling.asi file with the new one. This is a patch for a major bug in mission failure when attacked by an enemy.

Hi brother. I really liked your mod, but I have an idea for a new mod! I hope you read this and create such a mod!
Cattle will run away from the player in a group!
In the mod, the player can actually graze cattle, not steal them.
The game will have a store where the player can buy or sell cattle.
When the player buys cattle (no matter how much), he can build a pen for it!
Before buying, he needs to have a pen.
The pen can be anywhere, the player must build it.
After buying, he drives the cattle into the pen.
The player can hire workers, or milk the cows himself. This will be something like a business, they milk the cows, and then the workers go to sell the milk!
Every morning (from 4:30, 5 am) the workers milk the cows.
At 8-9 o'clock, after milking, the player or workers go to graze the cattle.
They open the gate and start driving the cattle wherever they want!!!
When grazing, they can go too far, or too close!
    !!!GRAZING IS NOT FIXED!!!
When grazing, the cattle can drink water, and when the player orders, the cattle can stop and graze!
After grazing the cattle, closer to 18-19 in the evening, the cattle are driven into the pen and milking begins again!
    You can make a whip.
Well...I hope you read this and still decide to create such a mod. It will be awesome and will also be the first mod in the Herding genre.
The player can buy as much cattle as he wants, as well as bulls for them!
    I think it's a very interesting mod.
I WILL BE SOOOOO GRATEFUL IF YOU CREATE SUCH A MOD!!!
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR MODS OR GAMES OF THIS GENRE FOR A LONG TIME, AND YOU ARE MY HOPE!!!
    WITH WARMTH FROM ANDREY!!!!
    GOOD LUCK

This is exactly the mod I want in this game. It would be perfect you could be an actual cowboy and maybe sometimes wolves or rustlers would come for your cows and you would have to fight them off.

I second this. please consider if you're still updating the mod. I've been looking for a rancher/cowboy mod for a while now and this rustling mod scratches the itch a little!

this would be nice but probably very difficult to script out..probably the very simple alternative to use this mod as a cowboy would be to have cattles spawn over the wilderness in the map, this way you are not stealing from anyone lol

It would be great to have a mod with the Beechers Hope features for Arthur, where from the beginning of the game you could buy a ranch, live on that ranch and earn a living from it. And also some kind of mechanic that would make the ranch depend on your work, like feeding the animals, providing firewood for the fire, defending against bandits, improving construction, delivering and buying supplies, etc.

Hello, thank you for creating mods firstly and secondly, is there a way to make this playable without marking anything on map, for players that dont use the map at all?

hey just a thought, is it possible to script this herding mechanic to horses that you broke? would be nice to break several horses then sell them in a bunch to stables or the horse rustlers (it might bug stables tho since it can only fit 4 horses, so need to park them somewhere close before selling individually)

Thanks for your interest but I most likely will never add horses. They operate very differently than other animals thus I had a hard time trying to "break" them. I'm sure it's possible but I just dropped the idea and probably won't revisit it, sorry.

haha damn you tested it already and you had a hard time then probably it's a difficult mess to code.. I just know you are one of the talented modders who can script and tossed the idea lol

This minigame should really have been included in vanilla, straight out of the box! It always seemed strange that this classic outlaw activity was only featured in one story mission and one side mission. Its certainly exploitable/ farmable, but then again so is fencing wagons and horses, and farming enemies in vanilla. This mod works well with other mods that reduce the amount of money and loot you get from other sources so you are incentivised to diversify the ways you make money in the game.

There are two problems I have with this mod interacting with the vanilla game that I'm not sure can be fixed- 1. It doesn't work with with the vanilla crime and honor system 2. The flocks of sheep that accompany the ambient shepherds that you find in the countryside (near Emerald ranch, for example) seem to be coded to flee as soon as the shepherd is attacked and despawn extra quickly, making it impossible to rustle more than one or two sheep.

I have been experiencing the bug where I can't rustle any more than one cattle of any gender at one time, eg. I rustle a bull, and then the option to rustle a cow is greyed out. And I have not been able to rustle oxen at all.

    Thanks for reading!

This is a really well made mod - you managed to do a herding mechanic that works, and little details like the mission instructions and the cutscenes at the rustler are awesome. It’s so well done that it looks like it could have been a part of the vanilla game instead of a mod!

It’s been a nice little way to earn extra money on the ranch for John, herding up his sheep and taking them to McFarlane’s ranch. My John is only selling sheep once in a while unless he steals them from another ranch because in my imagination, the sheep need time to breed and grow up. I feel like the sheep could be worth a bit more than $10 each, maybe $15-20, but I just add or deduct more money using Rampage if I want a price to be different to a mod.

I’d like to see pigs, mules, donkeys, and even horses added in the future. Horses especially would be an awesome addition because you could potentially use this mod to create multiple pack horses too instead of just being able to have one follow you around 😃

When I try to herd the Florida Cracker Cows, though, I can’t lasso them because there is a “calm” option instead linked to the RT button. I don’t know if this is the result of another mod, as I have a few, or if it’s part of the vanilla game. It might be from one of the Beechers Hope mods I use. It’s the same for any Florida cows I spawn in rampage or find in the rest of the world.

(In case anyone was wondering, to be able to lasso any of the animals, I just manually herd them out of the pen and further towards the edge of the ranch where you can equip weapons before lassoing them)

Thank you for the kind words and I'm thrilled you enjoy it and it works well for you! I may expand it out in the future. Every animal is theoretically doable except for horses. The game treats horses very differently. It's hard to explain, and I've tried. Not saying it's impossible but it's very difficult to figure out.. Anyways, like I said... I'll look into expanding it. Cheers!

No worries, I unfortunately have no modding or programming experience, but I understand a lot of things aren't possible and that there are some things you can do with certain peds and types of peds, and some things you just can't. Rockstar didn't make the game for modding (and in fact would even ban it if they could) so there's a lot of limitations to what is possible, and we're pretty much stuck with the way they've built a lot of things. Even if you were to leave the mod as it is, I'm really happy with it, I think you've done a fabulous job. It's so nice and polished! Thanks for your time in creating and sharing this with the community!

There is a mod that makes all animals grow over time, the mod's name is Hunting Grounds, I think it can help make the gameplay more realistic.

the mod works fine its just that i have no option to control my herds, if i have stragglers i always have to lead the heard back to the stragglers otherwise they all wander away, there is no prompts to do anything with the herd

As long as you are fully mounted on your horse and intiated the Rustling that is simply not possible. You'd had to show me what you are talking about.

    Suggestions:

    - Automatically set the delivery point, even randomly because the current mechanism just allows you to deliver the cattle in the very same ranch or town you got it from on the first place. So, maybe if you stole it on Emerald Ranch, automatically set the destionation to Valentine or any other town.

    - Disable the kill prompt or make it available when lassoing the animal, now you can't kill the animal unless you press the prompt on the milisecond it appears.

    - If you don't feel like adding these maybe consider uploading optional files, anyway, good mod. Had fun with it

Oh yeah I do agree, if you're still working and updating the mod, preventing the same ranch as being a rustling destination would be a good idea. I just take it to another rustler anyway, and treat the same ranch as I would any other way of cheating, because if making easy money was the goal I'd just open Rampage or something so I tend to put mental rules around things anyway or else it defeats the purpose of playing.

If a destination is automatically set, it would make sense to set it to the nearest town that isn't the same ranch, if that's possible. I do like the current system of choosing a destination, though. The nearest isn't always the one I want to go to. I suppose you could have a pop up list appear but that's more work, and I'm 100% fine with using the red GPS marker.
