I genuinely was not expecting this quick of a response to the upload. I am thrilled to see people enjoying or joking about this idea. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone.
I apologize if anyone runs into any quirks or bugs. If you do see something feel free to post it here and I'll see what I can do.
However, I have minimal experience in modding or software in general and have probably only spent a total of 3 hours on this mod. (Including research on how to accomplish this) so please be patient 🙏
Dude, you're a genius. I am one of those who is afraid of snakes. Now thanks to you I can play this game. Thank you. I will wait for updates about this mod, and I am waiting for such a mod for the first part, which according to rumors should be released on PC. PS Don't listen to trolls who laugh at your mod. These are simply inadequate creatures who like to laugh at the weaker ones. Although in reality they are weaklings. Because a strong person will not laugh at a weak person, but on the contrary will help him.
Thank you! I am an avid gamer and my wife is a recent gamer after years of trying. She is beyond terrified so occasionally I try to go through games I enjoyed and find solutions for her. So far I've only done this for RDR and 7 days to die but both seem to function well enough. I kept her along for the process from start to finish.
In one iteration I used a snapping turtle for the model swap and that was considerably more terrifying than the base model IMO.

How are y'all scared of pixels? I mean props to the creator for caring about others, but like its a videogame, how are yall scared of snakes. If it's irl I get it but like they're so tiny and insignificant in game, and they run away at first contact unless you're too close so... Genuinely curious what are yall scared of?
Listen, I ain't got a fear of snakes or anything, but I downloaded this specifically so I could endorse it (assuming the mod works). You deserve to be given credit for thinking about others, because even if the execution isn't the intended result, the fact that you even considered it in the first place says volumes. For that, I tip my hat to you, partner. That said, I'm gonna go test your mod.
Phobias are phobias, people can't control them. The best they can do is try to work on it. If they feel that video games are the time and place to work on it, that's fine. If they don't want to subject themselves to being spooked when they are trying to relax and enjoy a video game that's also fine.
RDR2 has minimal snake interactions and people with this phobia struggle to enjoy the game. With my wife specifically the idea that there can be a snake is enough to stop her from playing a game. No matter how few and far between an interaction could be.
This mod is solely intended for people with a phobia of snakes. If people want to use it to see goofy animations that's fine as well. But ultimately this is only out here to allow a new audience to enjoy the game. No matter how small.
This thread will not be used to attack people by calling them snowflakes. Everyone has their own journey and should be able to attack their fears at their pace. Trauma can root itself from young ages that leaves people with lifelong fears. This is something I do not wish upon anyone.
Remember it costs you more time to comment unhelpful things than to keep unwarranted opinions to yourself.
What a great project. I love the hunting in this game, but hunting snakes is genuinely dangerous because if I get bit, I'm gonna be on edge for like the next hour of gameplay, from the comments it sounds like I'm just going to get bit by a squirrel but I think that's manageable. Very much looking forward to any updates coming to this mod, great job!
This mod doesn't get rid of snakes it just makes them look like sQuirrels. Would've been better to go into metapeds.ymt and delete all the snake entries like I did in one of my mods
This is correct, the mod is called "Snake Replacer" and not "Snake Remover". However if you could please drop a link to your mod I'm sure someone would happily use it.
I chose to replace the snakes over remove them because they do serve some function in the game via perfect skins and whatnot.

This way makes it scarier with mutant squirrels that move so odd ... and can be poisonous.
