thank you for this, I was about to delete this game after playing up until the summer camp, was having fun except always, there was just too much "smoke" or "fog", absolutely distracting and annoying and ruined my ability to enjoy the game.

I truly like the mod but it's not only changing fog but also clouds. Sometimes clouds don't even render at all, they're outrageously lessened and it really breaks the immersion for me. Overcast weather for example doesn't even look like there's clouds at the sky, in vanilla they're everywhere. It'll be great if only reducing the fog but keeping clouds vanilla. Lastly as Jordan1411 mentioned there's flickering vignette issue. If you fix these issues it'll be a 10/10 mod

I disabled vignette effects in 58 different weather conditions in this mod, maybe there are some cases I missed so when you trigger them, game will quickly shift between vignette enabled and disabled.
From my personal experience, this could happen when I enter the game or complete a missson, and it will disappear after I move around, so I am not very bothered by that.

my guess is that this will boost your fps because that fog is probably volumetric in a way. i will test as i know my pc gets around 40 ish fps it will be noticeable and write back to you

Why are you including the mods.xml and patterns.dat file in your mod? I don't think I want to overwrite those files...

They are inherited from the mod i edited on, I deleted the patterns.dat in the new version,  you can delete it too. On the other hand mods.xml is the description file of this mod, if you already have one, just open it with text editor and add the information of this mod.

I think they made it that way so the world would feel bigger.
