This mod is very helpful. Thank you for creating the mod, you helped me get out of my depression about cooking. Btw, is there anyway we can cook 3-5 pieces at one time? Cuz irl i can make a setup for faster cooking that the game doesn't have. LoL
It doesn't work for me. It doesn't work in the game. I tested it in notepad and saw the 'space r' showing up. In game, nothing happens. I followed instructions.
Did you change the hotkey F4 to something else? I found that some other keys apart from F1 to F12 dont work for me (for example INS key triggers the script on Notepad, but does not work when I play RDR2).
Also make sure that you have not changed the default keybinds in your game for ”cook another” (spacebar) and ”store for later” (R). If you have changed those hotkeys to something else, must also change in the script to make the script work in game.
If the script gives you a space and an ”R” in your text editor (like notepad) repeatedly, then the script is working as intended. Just gotta figure out why it does not register those key presses when playing the game
I suspect that my script is a bit fast (the keys are not pressed down for enough amount of time for the game to register the key presses). I will make another script with more delayed key presses for you to try. I will post it here shortly.
Please let me know if the second script solved your issue. That may help me pinpoint the issue.
Your new file works, but not inside the game. In fact, it works on the nexusmods web page! I have tried using F1, but no luck. I will try using a regular alpha key and report back. ************ OK, I tried using the ] key and it works in notepad but not in game. I increased the timing to 400 with no luck. So, I hope you figure it out. It works find out of game.
While I am thinking some more about this, I would like you to try two more quick things.
1) Run the version 2 script again, but as admin (right click —> select ”Run as administrator” from the pop up list 2) if that does not help, also go to RDR2 graphics setting and change to borderless Windowed mode if you are in fullscreen mode, and if you are in widowed or borderless windowed mode, try if it works if change to fullscreen mode
optional third suggestion https://portal.microfocus.com/s/article/KM000020477?language=en_US and then repeat step 1) [this, because in some cases UAC can interfere or prevent autohotkey scripts from working. Though some people are not comfortable with turning it off. It’s up to you if you want to try it.]
I also posted a new file that handles the key inputs a little differently. It is called version 3. I really hope it solves the problem with your game not able to register the keyinputs.
I have not tried the other Auto cooking and brewing mod, but it seems to me when I read the mod description that the Auto cooking and brewing one is a little more advanced (the author is saying that you can cook/craft x3 items at once). I am using AHK and the author of that other mod is using some other program to achieve the auto crafting. But it seems we use the same idea in so that both mods are sending constant keyinputs for the actions ”cook another” (default spacebar) and ”store for later” (default R).
Being more simple and lightweight I guess the only advantage my mod has, is that (once you have succeded in making it work) it can never conflict with another mod and it can never stop working/be outdated, as it is not relying upon the scripthookrdr2 software or any mod loading software that needs to be up to date with the current game version.
