first and foremost i wanna say this is a great mod secondly tho I'd like to ask if you'd be willing to do an updated outfit like this for the debter John J. Weathers who you see in the Money Lending and Other Sins VI & VII
Thanks for the feedback! I've been considering doing John J. Weathers ever since I released this mod here but I keep debating if I should do only his coat or redo his whole outfit (as his uniform in game has been "nativized" with moccasins, hide strips and a beaded feathered necklace) but actually now that I'm thinking about it I probably will do both but just leaving one of the outfits as an optional file :)
That mod is now live, sorry for the long wait! https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/3099 Also one thing is I couldn't add either of the hats so I left him hatless like how he is in vanilla. (I couldn't do this because of his massive head and long hair that goes up over the hat)
Unfortunately it still doesn't work, I've tried EVERYTHING. And it doesn't work...it's such a shame...how does this guy who does NPC makeovers, e.g. add a whole new character to Captain Monroe with just a single file for Steam and it works? Maybe you can make a file like this? :(Thank you anyway.
Its because cutscene peds (any peds that start with cs_ ) have a different skeleton and if you put non cs clothing onto them it gets very wonky and stretched out. However to fix that the skeleton of the ped is changed to a different non cs one which requires the metapeds.ymt. Plus I made custom textures which require a few additional files for each texture. So in theory someone could be a single file but its much more limiting what you can do as you can only use other cutscene ped clothing items (besides some certain clothing types) and non custom made textures.
Damn...I was just so excited. He's still invisible. I think I'm going crazy. 😞 I checked, maybe it's the .YFT file, it's the only one of its kind in the stream folder and I have a lot of files there...
Did you make sure to undo the change that was META_BASE_CaptainMonroe to META_Base_Male back to the regular META_BASE_CaptainMonroe in the metapeds.ymt? you can just search "monroe" in the metapeds.ymt you are using and it will be under the frag name.
Also perhaps try downloading Red Dead Content Unlocker and see if that fixes it https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1688 I'm almost certain one of those should make it work for you
Ohhh its actually my mistake this time! There was something in the ymt I forgot to change when I reuploaded to V1.1 Im re-reuploading it now, sorry for that! I totally missed over it as I was rushing to get the non metapeds version out
Really awesome work!! have you stopped working on the other versions like the blue plus nutmeg canvas mod? this is really great though is it accurate to 1899?
@RomansAnthem22 For right now I have stopped working on the other clothing mods I made but I may pick them up again in the future. About the 1899 accuracy, technically speaking its not accurate because in 1899 rank chevrons were larger and inverted (upside down) and the 1899 campaign hat has a slightly broader crease at the top than the 1904 campaign hat, I deceived to use 1903 rank chevrons in the mod however because I think they look much better and are also completely accurate into the epilogue of the game. In 1899 there were many different uniform colors as the army was still phasing out and introducing new uniforms so depending on were stuff was issued so the uniforms I made can be considered accurate in 1899. (besides the rank chevrons non-inversion/size and campaign hat broader crease)
Edit: I forgot to mention, collar disks are also inaccurate for 1899 as they weren't introduced until 1907 (the year of the games epilogue)
I did originally instead to include an insignia with the officers 1904 hat but upon looking at many real uniforms and photographs the hat with no insignia was more common. Perhaps in a later version I will add it in the Optional Files Section, the only thing is that the insignia will appear more flat (like the collar of officers in my mod) since model editing is currently not possible.
Hey I've tried everything but Cpt. Monroe is always invisible to me. I have the following two mods that also use metapeds, they are:
Realistic Loadouts v2.2
&
Toast's Restored Pedestrian Pack
-
Following your instructions, I replaced META_BASE_CaptainMonroe with META_Base_Male in the editor for both YMTs and saved it. NO RESULTS, invisible. :(
I had this problem too it's about the way open IV extract files.
to solve this open cs_captainmonroe.ymt with notepad and at the very top you'll see <unk_type_0x04BD672F> just change this to <0x04BD672F> at the very bottom of the file you'll have the same thing so change the line to </0x04BD672F>
Currently I do not plan to do Colonel Favours as he is wearing a Dress Uniform which was actually still blue and correct for the time. However if you did not see my rank correction mod for him you can get it here (In vanilla game he is wearing Brigadier General rank instead of Colonel) https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/2095

<GamePath>update:/x64/packs/base/data/metapeds.ymt</GamePath>
<FilePath>metapeds.ymt</FilePath>
and then save the install.xml Hopefully that will work for you : )
