hi, i would like to replace the silver bay thoroughbred from john's gang horse to rachel but i don't know how is rachel's key name in the files. Can someone help me?
Is there a chance you can make versions of these without saddles too? I put Johns Thoroughbred on a Tennessee, but looks weird in the wild with a saddle
Thanks a bunch for giving us that Hungarian Half bred! Always wanted it restored ever since I found out about it. May sound stupid but do these come with their own unique stats ? (the Liver Chestnut apparently has a lot better stats than the vanilla coats)
Also, unrelated to this mod but, how does one make small alterations to the vanilla coats in the game ? For instance, I'd like to change the size of the brindle Arabian or add horse shoes to Arthur's starter horse. Do I need ASI loader, LML etc to do all that ?
I could've given them custom stats but the only horse with truly unique stats was the Hungarian. You need LML and an ASI loader to make changes to horses, making them bigger is as simple as downloading all the horse .ymt files from here, then changing scale value = to something else at the top. Horseshoes can be added by finding the line in the .ymt that has 0x54198088 and replacing that with 0xD140B63B, then replacing 0xD6E0FE5F with 0x60C257DA and 0xDA0DD6F4 with 0x130A9377 as well as 0x56F58C7A with 0x39578DD1.
Wow thanks a lot for the info mate. That seems like a simple tweak by the looks of it. I'll defenitely check it out.
I've got one last question. If I replace one of the vanilla horses, like for instance Arthur's Tennessee Walker with the new Hungarian, will I get the Hungarian's unique stats and breed/ coat name on the horse's description or will it still retain the Mahogany Bay's info ? How does that work ?
The names/descriptions are essentially just text and the stats are listed in a file called pedattributes.ymt, each entry is connected to the type of horse so if you replace a_c_horse_tennesseewalker_mahoganybay the horse is going to have the Mahogany Bay's stats.
You can try and change them but truth be told most horse stats only make a minor difference once you've bonded with them, you may want to download this mod if you still want good stats though.
? As I said below she should spawn as either a police mount in settlements, in Scarlett Meadows or West Elizabeth camps, in certain missions, or at the end of the Guarma chapter.
If you're looking to edit some of them yourself, I use OpenIV but I'd recommend using the file from this mod with all the horse .ymts in it (https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1660) because it has them all pretty much ready to go.
Though, it's missing the files for a_c_horse_winter02_01, p_c_horse_01, mp_horse_owlhootvictim_01, the Murfree horses, and mp_a_c_horsecorpse_01 so if you want those ones you'll need to download and use OpenIV (remember to change the text "UNK_TYPE" to "UNK_MEMBER" if you go that route).
There's a living version of John's chapter one horse that I think is called like Winter Horse or something. You can go into it's ymt and take the embroidered saddle from there.
Thanks, but I did actually get the saddle to work I was just saying that I couldn't get John's horse during the first 6 chapters to wear it because that horse already has an assigned saddle.
Sounds good, thank you. I'm not gonna upload the file without your permission but it'll help me as research material for some of the mods I make in the future since I'm still relatively new to file editing.
You should be able to spawn them in using rampage (Usually what mods like this use to spawn peds, weapons etc) by spawning in the horse you chose to replace, reverse dapple black thoroughbred replaced by liver chestnut Hungarian halfbred for example. Otherwise depending on which ones you chose to replace, go to the stable/wild location for them (Google can often help with the original horses' locations.) and they should spawn in fine. Not sure if Lenny's simple trainer would work since a lot of these mods seem incompatible with it.
Assuming you don't have a trainer (I would recommend using Rampage if you don't) and haven't changed the filenames,
-The Liver Chestnut Hungarian Half-bred should spawn as either a police mount in settlements, in Scarlett Meadows or West Elizabeth camps, in certain missions, or at the end of the Guarma chapter.
-The Silver Bay Thoroughbred is used by John, you can't actually ride the horse without spawning him or changing the filename to another horse.
-The White Arabian spawns in the snowy mountains, you might be able to look up the exact location online.
-The Mealy Chestnut Breton can be bought from the stable near Rhodes.
Hope this helps, otherwise you should just be able to spawn the horses in with a trainer of your choice
The other mod I saw was using an old method that involved modifying the catalog, the new method should be a lot more reliable and it should work if it's installed properly.
