Yeah can you clarify at all? I would love to have the vampire knife replace hunting knife. This would be really good to know for everyone, I've been trying to figure it our but just can"t.
if anyone needs to edit this use Beyond Compare for an easier time or just use Word but you basically delete everything there and just change the last attachpoints
No one mentioned this here in full so i'll write it down. Regarding making the mod working as intended.
1. Don't do what the author says, you don't need changes in weapons.ymt
2. Take the desired knife files from from options folder and put them into lml/stream folder ('w_melee_knife02.ydr' and 'w_melee_knife02.ytd')
3. Now in order to remove the OG hunting knife handle bug take the w_melee_knife02.ydr file that you put in your stream folder (In case of Dutch knife it will be named 'w_melee_knife02ydr' without the dot before 'ydr', which is a mistake on authors part. Rename 'w_melee_knife02ydr' to 'w_melee_knife02.ydr' if it's not already named so) and make a copy of w_melee_knife02.ydr inside lml/stream folder and name it 'w_melee_knife02_grip1.ydr'
As a result you will have three files inside lml/stream folder:
w_melee_knife02.ydr w_melee_knife02.ytd w_melee_knife02_grip1.ydr (which is a copy of w_melee_knife02.ydr)
And you're done. Some of the knifes (i tested only on Dutchs knife, which i personally use) even support customization like metal and grip material.
In addition Finger Fillet mini-game works with your custom knife present.
Dutch's Knife is broken because there is a missing period in the file extension of the file name. It's currently w_melee_knife02ydr when it should be w_melee_knife02.ydr
Been using this mod for so long as I hated the original hunting knife, I'm using the wide blade knife. Just wondering if it would be possible to get Uncles knife as a replacement as well
I think Uncle's Knife is unique too so if his knife files are found then yeah it should be possible as a replacement too. Looked at the weapons.rpf and saw there are 21 knife files but can't figure out what is his knife just from the ytd alone (ydr's arent viewable still in openiv).
How to use this mod? There's not a word about it in the description. I tried using it with Lenny's modloader, but all I get is a void instead of the handle of a standard knife.

PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF weapons.ymt before you begin, duh !
All you need to do is open your weapons.ymt and search for " WEAPON_MELEE_KNIFE "
Then scroll down to " <AttachPoints> "
There is this whole paragraph :

Unholstering it and holstering it makes it revert to its original color. Other than that and in all other circumstances it works as intended.
