There's a bug or smth when you have random encounter and hold the lantern sometimes after the shootout the lantern doesnt give light, nothing works to fix it only redownloading the lantern
Hey there! I was wondering if its possible to give me a message if you know anything about finding the specific ytd or ydr file that is actually used for the vanilla lantern. trying to work with something but all files that show the same textures of the lantern isnt affected. :z
Try mod Stash tht lantern together with this one. U will cant fix bug u mentioned but u will get option to place lantern on belt by using button, preventing next bug u mentioned.
This mod seems to be permanently enabled once you install it. I installed this mod and went onto a save file to use it, and I have the old lantern; I have two lantern options on my horse, but when trying to equip the vanilla lantern, it swaps to the old one automatically--which I assume is intentional.
What gets weird is once you save a game after acquiring the old lantern. I saved the game, uninstalled the mod, went back to that save file, and I still had both lanterns, only now I could swap between them and keep both on my horse. I went back to an older save, where I had never used the old lantern, and it wasn't present (as it should be). It seems to permanently grant the item to you rather than just swapping it out. Any save games/autosaves made after installing the mod will forever have the old lantern as an option.
It doesn't seem to cause any issues, but it's a little weird to not be able to properly uninstall.
There also seems to be a quirk that it will show a horizontal knife icon instead of the lantern icon if you cycle between the regular knife and lantern twice while the lantern is equipped. It works normally if the lantern is put away.
It is odd that you are able to access it via the weapon wheel. The mod was created as you normally could not get the old lantern back out after you put it back. Also the mod does give you the item instead of swapping it out. It just forces the player to use the old lantern instead of the normal one.
When I'm on my horse it seems to act as if I have 2 different lanterns. When I'm on foot, it functions normally, but on my horse I'm able to swap between the two, similar to toggling between different knives.
One is the properly working one, the other is like a "ghost" that seems to still be the old style lantern, but it has some odd behaviors. If I have the "ghost" one selected before going into the mission where you go into the swamp with Dutch, it poofs out of existence right at the start of the mission. The properly working lantern also works with Stash That Lantern, while the "ghost" lantern disappears if I try to stash it.
If I then uninstall the mod, the "Ghost" one goes back to being the vanilla lantern, and the old lantern stays there, still usable, only now I can freely toggle between and use both from my horse. I honestly kind of like that a little better, I don't know if you're able to make that a feature or not. But being able to just choose which one I want without replacing/disabling anything, would be pretty sweet and it'd be less prone to bugs.
This is probably overdue, but if you happen to use the Rampage Trainer, have you tried removing the lantern from your loadout and then re-adding it? That usually solves certain issues like that for me.

Idea for a new script: since in the new version of the game the animation with the pipe smoker no longer works, you could create a mod that replaces the cigar or cigaratte with the pipe (the pipe exists in the game but only as an object in the mission for Dutch; can also be found in Valentine's hotel bathroom), what do you think?
The Lantern is disappearing from my inventory every time I hold a weapon or use any features of the stash that lantern mod. Once I do any of those things I get no inventory item for a lantern at all thus cannot interact with the lantern again.
