Small overhaul! I made it an option to reduce the vignetting even more in the night time! :) The way to install and use the ReShade mod is included in a few text files inside the ZIP file. Make sure you read it, even if you know ReShade.
As a consumer, I just don't understand Vignettes.....maybe it's just a Dev thing, I don't know.
Why "hide", in any sense, the beautiful and hard work that gets put into game graphics. Also, why destroy the image with over the top lighting and or bloom?? It's like modern game dev's think "Lets add a crap load of light and shading effects to the point that the image quality gets diminished, it'll actually make the game look better...and somehow more realistic". Let's get the players feeling more like they're really there by causing eye-strain and headaches! Maybe in RDR3, (to make it REALLY realistic) the Dev's can come to your house and punch you in the face every time Arthur get's into a fist fight, and gets hit!
Vignettes should only be used during cutscenes, or temporarily, to denote a sense of loom and doom (or stealth, or whatever).....not a full time effect. Same thing with blown out lighting effects. Just my two cents.....
All true. Even Cyberpunk 2077 has no native option to disable vignetting, so mods are made to disable it. Majority of gamers does not understand vignetting in gameplay. Like you said: maybe fine in cutscenes or as short effect when you get hurt.
It is the first time I use ReShade, but for some reason I couldn't find Vignette.fx on the list. There were a bunch of other effect package but Vignette.fx is missing.
Edit: ReShade 4.9.1 has an effect package that has to be installed. This is after you choose vulkun/dx12. Don't click skip and click OK to install this. Everything else is the same as in the video.
Thanks very much for this! I can put up with a little vignetting, though I really don't care for it, but the amount that this game has is insane. Shame we can't get rid of it entirely, but this is a major improvement. Thanks again!
Why do you say there's risk of ban from using a reshade preset in the online mode? Reshade already comes shipped with the game, you can see it loading in the top of the screen when you start the game. Why would Rockstar include Reshade in the game if they want to ban you for using it?
Im asking because I already use my own preset in online mode, but I hate the vignette effect so was thinking of using your preset settings to try and remove it. But obviously, since Im playing online, I take notice of your warning of risk of a ban, so I'd like to hear more about what exactly it is you believe would cause your reshade preset to trigger a ban?
(Also , there's no way im playing the online game without reshade presets, game simply doesnt look very good without it, so if I do get a ban for it, that's how it is, I accept all risks, and then I'll find something else to do with my time. It's about the journey anyways, not the destination ;) )
No, definitely not, RDR2 has NO Reshade in it. What you see is the code of ReShade recognizing RDR2 and gets active. I have my doubts why it is build that way but that is not my concern :)
And my warning is a "better safe then sorry" notice. With R* you never know: we all did see it with GTA V: one minute it was okay, the other minute people got banned for even the slightest graphical tweak. Having said that: I think it is safe. I mean, when you see that R* seems to do very, very little about all the stuff going on with RDR2 Online ... well, then my little ReShade preset would be completely nothing.
ah I see, yes sure it's true you never know with R*, so better give a warning just in case so people know to be catious and that they take their own risk. For some reason I thought your warning something more specific, sorry.
RDR2 as no reshade in it? But Reshade has always loaded up in the top of the game when I start it. It did this already when I installed the game and played it the first time, I sure hadn't installed Reshade at that time, so Reshade had to have been distributed with the RDR2 installation from Steam.
I went and ahead and implemented your night vignette settings in my own preset and it works pretty good, I dont see the point in the vignette at all, it's just annoying to have top and bottom of screen shrouded in that dark shade.
really don't know why they didn't add a setting to remove vignette, it just looks horrible and it's even more obvious after applaying your mod so yeah thanks a lot.
Hello. Can anyone exaplain me why we need ReShade even for simple thing like this? There is no way to mod/change graphic in game without goddamn ReShade? THX
There are indeed reports that ReShade and AMD can act up. Can not help there since I am a Nvidia user. But did you try the latest version also? Because you mention removing the ReShade folder in AppData but that is the path of the previous version, 4.5.2 with Vulkan. Reshade 4.5.3 uses the path C:\ProgramData\ReShade\ for Vulkan Also, make sure you do *not* use the workaround Rockstar offered in November: running RDR2.exe and the Launcher with Admin rights. ReShade Vulkan does not work then.

What is your version and so on? With no info I can't say anything about it :)

EDIT: After fully removing the reshade files, I still can't get the game to run. ot oh
FINAL EDIT: Okay, game back up and running. Had to delete the reshade folder in Appdata. I guess reshade doesn't like my amd gpu? (RX VEGA 64)
