Note: balanced for 2-4 players. Playing with SWAT AI bots will make all modes kind of easy...
Difficulties explained In order of difficulty (enemy accuracy, roamers and some timers) , from the most forgiving to least:
No Crack For You (main/default file - easy.) See main description tab for more info.
Some Crack - As a Treat (easy-medium) - similar to Vanilla, but slightly less accurate suspects at long range.
Cracked but Sweet (medium+) - most good players who don't mind dying every once in a while can start here.
Crack Attack (medium-hard, suspects ignore limbs and aim center mass/head) - a challenge if you don't go slow. You can die faster if your armor is broken.
Cracked Souls™ (hard - similar to Vanilla at launch, suspects ignore limbs and aim for center mass/head very accurately) - invite your friends and watch them suffer! Hearing range of suspect increased, rifles are more accurate, suspects will be less likely to surrender if near friendlies, etc. You can die faster if your armor is broken.
Special variants:
Low intensity - lower number of suspects than vanilla, about 20-30% lower on average.
Overdose - Higher number of suspects than vanilla, about 50% higher on average. More roamer and random knife suspects. Slightly tuned timers on campus to account for more suspects.
Blaze of Glory - Adds a shitload of bombs and traps everywhere. Tired of CoD rushers? Well... Note: mostly a joke mode.
Heart Attack - So many suspects, up to 50 where the maps are large enough. New stuff on most maps, like alarms and bomb vests. Extreme amount of patrolling enemies opening doors and walking around. Further increased timers on campus. More surprises.
Compatibility Install only one variant at a time. Incompatible with other AI mods and anything modifying suspect count or traps through the AILevelData.ini file. May be compatible with mods that modify these values through other means, such as through blueprints. Warning: even having a custom map mod installed can break this mod, as the map author usually overwrites the AiLevelData.ini file.
About the "Requirements" popup These are just suggestions if you are going to be playing Overdose or Heart Attack modes, especially in Commander mode or going for a high score. The added suspect count will cause additional stress in Commander mode, and without the No Stress for SWAT mod your Officers may commit suicide (no joke).
Traps If you want no traps, try the no traps mode. If you want to have no traps with one of the other variants, try AstralStare's agnostic no trap mod. This should work with any of my modes. For masochists, there's also the Blaze of Glory mode available with a massively increased amount of traps.
Difficulty & Achievements Yes, you can unlock achievements with mods. Achievements are a bit buggy in this game, however, and only unlock consistently in singleplayer.
The leftmost(commander)/topmost(quickplay/coop)difficulty counts as Casual for achievements purposes.
The second from the left/top counts as standard.
The third counts as hard for the relevant achievement called "I'm too old for this".
This is usually, in order from easy to hard: Low intensity (casual), No Crack (or whatever difficulty you downloaded - standard), and Overdose (Hard). If this is confusing, see the images tab on this page for an example.
Anything after that are custom difficulties created by me, and will probably not track for "highest difficulty complete" on the mission list.
Collection of nice and working stuff here: No Crack, No Mercy. My other mods: No Mercy for Terrorists. Scoreboard revamp that removes the nonlethal requirement for high scores, removes the need to pick up weapons and more. Multiple modes for choosing between a more realistic SWAT mode, or Milsim mode. Now with added WANTED: Dead or Alive mode for HVTs. No Stress for SWAT. Softens up the stress relief per turn and adds more therapy slots in Commander mode. No Suppression for SWAT - Removes suppression blur and camera shake for player.
Highly recommended mods by other modders: Gunfighter (look for AIO/All-in-one) Sprint mod (requires minor manual ini tweak and Simple Blueprint Loader) Damage rebuff bundle (look for the damage rebuff file, install only the Hard one and load it after Gunfighter)
Maybe add no-traps variant to all difficulties before people cry about it :) We'll see.
Make a variant with all 5 difficulties & standard suspect count
Make a variant with every single difficulty and special modifier for each difficulty, if it works... Probably will for Quick Play and Coop, might break the commander difficulty selection screen due to lack of space...
hey idk if i have this problem but i dont have a some crack as a treat difficulty in my diff options, and i checked everything even required files, any help? only difficulties i have are low intensity, no crack, overdose, blaze of glory and heart attack
I'm afraid the developers don't have anything that relates to morale loss on being shot, just being stunned or playing an animation. They are probably less likely to surrender, if anything. There is an opposing mechanic to morale, called stress, which trigger them to go into "victory or death" mode or suicide.
If you want them to surrender, shout and deploy tools. The shout is buffed a bit in the mod, and all tools as well.
Ah, that's a shame. Wanted to recreate the swat 4 experience a bit. Maybe with clever buffs to shout and deployables a similar effect can be recreated.
Hey, loving the mod, but I have a request. I'm currently playing on Cracked Souls right now, can you make a version so that the no variant version is counted as Hard? Otherwise, it's honestly the perfect difficulty mod.
My fav AI mod, but dude EXPLOSIVES EVERYWHERE IS ABSURD, was doing leviathan mission, EVERY CLOSED DOOR had a trap and it was blaze of glory difficulty.
Blaze of Glory felt like a good balance when it came to the A.I. If you pair it with a mod that disables traps, its actually really good difficulty mode.
I see the section in the mod description in regards to making our own AI mod is all crossed out now. Is that website template now obsolete? How were you able to make your mods then?
Seconding this. I'm not sure who is in touch with the folks that made that tool but I really liked being able to easily fine tune certain variables myself. Anyone know when it will be updated?
That website is for beginners, I use UnrealPak. I crossed it out due to the new patch using 4 nested files instead of one. I haven't spoken with recursiveGecko yet as I've been on vacation, but perhaps I'll try to get in touch this weekend.
Hey man, great job with the mod, really helps with the hard mode in the new DLC3 patch. Just wanted to let you know (in case you didn't) that the scores are not being updated with the new variations in one single .pak file. Missions that I had already completed on Hard, are shown as completed in the Blaze of Glory difficulty, the missions I only completed on Standard are shown as No Crack and those missions won't update the scores with, niether with Blaze of Glory or Overdose (the difficulty I'm aiming for).
Probably a dev setting. I assume it is supposed to show the highest difficulty completed. Since I replaced Hard with Blaze of Glory and then created two new difficulties (Overdose and Heart Attack), the game probably won't recognize them as "harder" than Hard.
Overall it's just a minor display issue that has no bearing on gameplay, but I suppose I could change which setting replaces hard to make the achievement easier to get.
I really love this mod, has been my favorite AI mod for a year or so now. However, my one big gripe is that "Blaze of Glory" is a bit excessive with the traps. For instance, Carriers of the Vine had traps on 90% of the closed doors, Greased Palms was the same, and I imagine it's the same story with some of the DLC maps. Aside from that, "Blaze of Glory" feels very well balanced and makes the game very enjoyable. Is there any way you can tone down the amount of traps for that difficulty?
Blaze of Glory is mostly a troll mode. It is the same as the standard No Crack in all other aspects. Not meant to be taken seriously, just a way to blow up your friends or random rushers in coop.
Try Overdose if you want a harder mode, or Heart Attack if you want a much harder one.

On a more serious note:
Can you make a mod that makes suspects more willing to comply when you shoot them in the leg?
If you want them to surrender, shout and deploy tools. The shout is buffed a bit in the mod, and all tools as well.
Also, do you think i need therapy? :P
I'm currently playing on Cracked Souls right now, can you make a version so that the no variant version is counted as Hard?
Otherwise, it's honestly the perfect difficulty mod.
If you update to 10.1a, it will be exchanged with Overdose in the "Hard" slot.
Like I mentioned, I moved it to the side in 10.1a and put Overdose in the hard slot. It's still available, just less prominent.
I crossed it out due to the new patch using 4 nested files instead of one. I haven't spoken with recursiveGecko yet as I've been on vacation, but perhaps I'll try to get in touch this weekend.

Thank you so much!
