Horrible experience, horrible mod. Got hardwalled at Jubilife City against rival by the exit to route 203.
It took me several hours of constantly resetting the game and deleting the save file to grab a Timid Piplup, a solid while to get it to level cap by constantly losing to him, and then had to spend an awful lot of time grinding in a very excruciatingly boring way to lvl17 with wild pokemon, because Piplup didn't evolve since I was knocked out by the stupid rival fight. And only once it evolved to Prinplup, and after having literally no desire to continue playing, I managed to push through & defeat the fight.
There is literally no reason to have such an obnoxious roadblock THAT early while game is still opening up. You should be perfectly able to beat it just with your chosen starter, and then get hardwalled at the first gym, where the difficulty spike would make much more sense.
Call me stubborn, stupid, both, or what you will, but if you circunvent the issue by toggling options off & don't subject yourself to the experience, you've no right to criticize it. So I pushed on with what the experience had to offer, and regret wasting my time on this, wholeheartedly.
I can agree there to some extent. The “balancing” is odd and probably with the intention that people know what to do in every situation (or play sweat teams themselves).
When I saw stall mons on the second arena leader I couldn't believe it let alone the top four members that “downgrade” to your level while still having high level moves, maxed EV/IVs and use items/berries.
It gets worse. Fantina, under level cap rule, is completely broken. Even with perfect EV training, perfect nature, and using same pokemon, her Mismagius and Gengar will always outspeed your pokemon, and always choose supereffective moves. And she never deploys one or the other in a row, so your sweep is always denied. Even with baton pass shenanigans, you get completely destroyed.
Edit: not long after writing this, I managed to beat her out of pure random chance, just because she chose Pain Split with her Dusclops instead of Shadow Punch, allowing the sweep. I won because of random chance, completely ignoring skill & good play.
Edit2: Somehow, it gets even worse than that. Following Gym is the same crap. All pokemon faster than what you can currently achieve in the speed stat under level cap rule. And you can't even set up. I think level cap option is broken.
When I first encountered her, I almost beat her with my “not made for her specific fight” team, but her stall Dustox eventually lamed my Nidoqueen down (which can't learn any good moves to make her viable before LVL 76..).
After that I just hunted for ghost types and grabbed the Gengar from the haunted house and somehow found a Banette too. Pairing that with Mawile made a decent start. I added my Charmeleon and someone else I forgot. The thing I do now is do some lame maggot sweat sh*t top four bug type guy that wanted to fight me before entering the town — Lead the fight with Ariados and put out Sticky Web. Slows them upon entering, that's how I dealt with them outspeeding me.
About the level cap: I still don't understand why even random trainers on the wild have Pokémon higher level than they would evolve on. I think I had one putting out LVL 36 Charmander or Charmeleon..
The mod itself isn't too bad, aside from the terrible unbalanced and not for every player friendly difficulty scale. My girlfriend wouldn't stand a chance playing this. I'm also often lost on where to go or what to do since this mod changes the usual path on how you go through the game.
I would like to see an alternative option for this mod with just quality of life changes and a bit better arena leaders compared to the vanilla experience. Not sweat lord trainers and whole different progression throughout the game.
The balancing in this mod is bad dude. Really bad. Why putting Elite Four members to battle pre Pokemon League, matching your level with buffed pokemons, full IV 31 and full EV, 2ª evolutions? Also, why the enemy literally never miss against a Garchomp with Sand Veil + Bright Powder?
Agreed. I also find it unfair that arena leaders either have Pokémon that have moves you can't even get yet or play sweat teams. Some Pokémon don't even learn skills they should learn according to the wikis — made my plans for Nidoqueen and Charizard useless, as they somehow don't learn that they should/can. I even check with PKHEX (adjusted for lumi) and they just don't learn it. Also when I fought Saturn I noticed he rocks Toxicroak at LVL 33 or 34 (can't remember, but for sure under 37), but this man evolves at LVL 37?
I'm aware that this should be a challenge yet the arena leaders/top four/“bosses” play sweat teams with maxed stats while you're sitting there can't even max anything yet let alone get moves they have.
Balancing is a bit odd here as arena leaders are stacked to the max while you have no “easy” way to get perfect IV and EVs in the early game. Also, exp gain in underground with the new variety is a bit low as they're way under my cap level (under 20 while I'm 26).
Could you add the xray for underground mining in this mod, or at least fix the mod from gamebanana not working with this?
When I try to run the game with the mod installed I just get a black screen. When I run the game without the mod it boots immediately. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

Just my honest two cents.
