Love these! I would love to see mythic stuff like this!

What prompt do you use to get something similar? I am struggling to define what I'm after haha

Thank you very much! Glad you like them!

Ah yes, the mythical stuff... Well, I do agree it would be quite fun trying to go for something like that as well, but more or less all these portraits were "turned" for the rogue-lite modes "Midnight Isles" and "Beneath the Stolen Lands". I highly enjoy trying out old character builds from the glorious days of pen-n-paper roleplaying, so often I tend to prefer less epicness and more the "struggling beginnings" of a character. Not many things pleases me more than being saved in the very last "round" of a battle by a simple Daze spell or stuff like that...

Regarding prompts, you basically just need to find a formula that gets you what you want and then stick with it. Once you get a good attempt, you can copy the same prompt and just change the lines of descriptions to better fit with your next character. It might take a few tries before the AI catches on. I usually start my prompts with "Fantasy Style Portrait" or something similar, then describing the image I use for inspiration a bit and maybe try and add some new stuff as well (doen't always pan out though) and perhaps change the background atmosphere a bit. It certainly helps having some good raw material as an image reference, an in such case I've found the screenshots I've taken in Skyrim helps a lot with the setup. Luckily for me, I've got tons of them with various characters.

After that, all you need is patience, because it will take some amount of attempts until you get a portrait somewhat close to what you're looking for, and you also should be judging your results rather harshly at first to better guide the next attempt (by adding/removing description detail, scraping the results and try again, and so on). Each new attempt might replace the image reference you started with, but you need to be quite clinical and observant before you switch so the procedure "flows" in your wanted direction. It's really about finding the balance between what you want and what the AI suggests and this can be a bit tedious and require a bunch of new attempts.

I also tend to use rather high figures of image likeness, like between 70-90, and hope the AI filters will achieve what I prefer without too many weird artefacts or disfigured body anatomy. Using closeup portraits are way easier than full figure body shots. This is also why I use Oil Painting as my favorite filter, because those heavy drips of colour matches rather well to the image style I want and actually tends to add to the picture instead of making them weird, even if it's not perfected or making the image "half-made". It kind of works anyway, since it suits with the overall style I'm looking for when aiming for good old Baldur's Gate portrait-similarity. But it's all about what you want personally of course. Making them more cinematic, anime-inspired, cartoon-y, even close to realism or whatever might need a different procedure, so in the end, it's about being curious and try what happens until you find what you're looking for.

Anyone know why customized portraits don't work in 2.1.1i version of the game? (latest) is there a workaround to it?

Hi there! I've got no clue to be honest since I've tested my portraits in-game just some day ago and all seemed just fine. I need to log back in and see which version I'm at, but portraits made for the main character should be alright...I think. Customized portraits for NPCs however, I've heard had some hiccups with the latest addition of the game - the DLC "The Last Sarkorians" - but I don't know the why of it.

Hey there, Patrick! New nickname I see, although I recognise the avatar pic...

Thanks a lot! My gigantic contribution to the modding scene, but I'm really into this game and can't stop playing it, so I figured, why not share a bunch of my characters as usual!

      Hello Erwin!

Yes, my very first mod and I don't think they can come more easy than this one. It's just a package of image files sorted for use as the in-game portrait for your character, so yes you're right...

The game is old school RPG, meaning isometric view, a (hopefully) balanced group of max six adventurers (one of them is your main that you create yourself, the rest are companions you find on your adventures), very heavy on storytelling and worldbuilding and of course some of the most detailed character creation system you can find where you pick a race, class, feats, spells, skills, ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constition, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma), etc.

Combat is very tough and you really need to plan ahead and use a good strategy depending on what opponents you're up against (although the rule system also depends on successful dice rolls that are happening in the background, and not only for fights, but for specific conversation skills, spellcasting, knowledge, perception and so on.

It's played just like Baldur's Gate (which is based on Dungeons and Dragons), but the Pathfinder games are a lot more up-to-date with the UI, graphics, effects, etc. I grew up playing a similar old Swedish tabletop RPG...which also gave birth to my writing and all the characters you've seen over the years. So for me, this is back to the roots and it's probably the type of game I enjoy the most...
