    Hi, digitalares!

Thanks for the mod, pretty neat what you can do with it.  I originally downloaded thinking that editing party members would include relationship levels and such.  Do you have any idea how else I could do that?  I've learned that I messed up a romance several hours back in my save by missing one dialogue option, and I I was hoping this mod would be able to help with that?

    Anyway, thanks!  Handy tool!

    Hi Digitalares!

Can't seem to get it working, I click save files and the editor comes up blank. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I've managed to run it properly from the terminal and everything and am also having this issue with the Mac version which until now was seemingly the most stable one
However when I unzip it I didn't see the described "bunch of files that end in a '.o' extension." just the exec and the app which isn't how it was described there.

Same here. I see pathfinder_editor (Unix executable) and Pathfinder_editor.app
I also have a problem where it can't see my library folder (even though it's enabled in finder), but I've gotten around that by copying to my downloads folder. Still shows up blank upon using the open command

SO weirdly enough it works properly if you Right Click, Open in Terminal, the exec file instead of the app file

Yeah, worked for me M2 Ventura. Open the editor, not the app and it works.

That is because you think in terms of empirical sense, and he meant the sentence in a relative or general sense. The hierarchy of the structure of folders is still similar with similarly named folders even if they are not constrained to identical entrenched downflow symbology of computer iconography.

Would it be possible to "ressurect" a killed companion? Or to spawn him? If so how? I killed Nok-Nok but would like to know his story and finish his compaion quests. Maybe someone is aware of a different mod/way to get this done if it can't be achieved with this one?

The only way to do this is to go back and load a savegame before that character died and change the values of this savegame to give that character outrageous Armor Class or Hit Points but I do not mess with anything but portrait file, so I am not responsible if things stop working with that savegame eventually. You should have every savegame you created manually so try one and see. Make a backup of your original savegame however with Windows Explorer.

I will teach you guys how to just change the portrait of your already existing samegame to whatever you wish. This is the ONLY thing I want to do was change my portrait.

This is for the STEAM version of the game running on WINDOWS 11. I will spoonfeed you with specificity in these instructions (replace with your directory structures but listen to my exact steps please). If you use the GoG or Mac game versions, apply the caveats that are appropriate for those computer models correctly. I can't help you there, but similarities should be transferable across all platforms in a general sense. More specifically to GoG than Mac versions.

1.) Download the file. In my case, I put it in folder "F:\Gaming\all game utils\Vortex\Kingmaker mods"
2.) Extract the contents. In my case, all files were put into "F:\Gaming\all game utils\Vortex\Kingmaker mods\Windows Editor (Winpython Bundled)"
3.) Start "pathfinder_launcher.bat" inside the \Windows Editor (Winpython Bundled) folder.
4.) A Command line window will open AND the actual Python Editor window as well. Leave the command line window alone or just minimize it. You will be working in Windows Explorer and Python Editor only.
5.) Open a separate Windows Explorer and point it to the \Saved Game folder for Kingmaker located typically at "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Kingmaker\Saved Games"
6.) In Windows Explorer, take any save that starts with the word "Manual" and just right-drag it into this same folder and select "Copy" from the small fly-out window. This will create another identical file with the file ending in the word " - Copy" in it at the end of the file name. In my case it was called "Manual_30_Barony_s_Capital___4_Rova__IX__4710___05_31_03 - Copy.zks" This will be your BACKUP file in case something goes wrong you can always remove the word "copy" from this file name (and the spaces and dash it created) to get back an original file you found. Hopefully this will not need to be done but just in case you are safe. The original file name was "Manual_30_Barony_s_Capital___4_Rova__IX__4710___05_31_03.zks" in my case. It was 11,674 KB in size (over 11 MB for both the original and the copy versions identically). You can do this with any Autosaved game files (they all look like "Auto_XXX.zks") but I feel like Owlbears will sneak into your bedroom at night and lick your feet until you stop doing what you want too and pay attention so don't do it!
7.) Go back to the Python Editor and choose File > Open > and open the ORIGINAL savegame in the \Saved Games directory NOT ITS COPY. You have a backup now so don't panic! In Windows Explorer you may rename your now created backup (minus the copy and space it created) if you want to undo the savegame file and your back to the way everything was.
8.) In Python Editor, select the NON-COPY version of the saved game you manually just copied in Windows Explorer with File > Open command. DO NOT SELECT THE COPY version, select the ORIGINAL. Listen to this specifically or I cannot help you and you will corrupt your game potentially. In my case I selected the 30th manual save the game created, which the game called and named it as "Manual_30_Barony_s_Capital___4_Rova__IX__4710___05_31_03.zks"
9.) Once the savegame is open you should see just your characters first name next to Name which means you are doing it correctly. Look to the right and next to the word "Portrait" in the center of the Python Editor window, click the raised rectangle and it will become a fly-out window. Remember in this example I am ONLY changing the portrait and NOTHNG ELSE! If you change even ONE little thing in this \Save Games besides the portrait, then I cannot help you and you are on your own. Listen to me or die! LOL, just kiddin' ;)
10.) Inside your \Portraits folder (In my case, "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Kingmaker\Portraits") are individual folders and then the actual 3 PNG files for the images you downloaded from Nexus. In my case its \Portraits\0010\Medium.png which I used for my NEW portrait file for my main character. Most Portrait packs will contain a Fulllength.png, Medium.png, and Small.png portrait files in their own respective folders for each individual character. This Python Editor ONLY grabs the file called Medium.png if you have 3 files in your folders (typically you do have 3 files for every character). For instance, if you prefer the Fulllength.png image instead, you will have to change of the current Medium.png file to something else and rename the Fulllength.png file to be Medium.png to substitute in its place. Just swap the names between the two files in File Explorer so you do not loose either file. But in any case, whatever is named Medium.png in that folder will be the ACTUAL portrait file you will see within the game. The Python Editor does not care about the Fulllength.png or Small.png files ONLY the Medium.png one. This process also ONLY changes your main character not your other party portraits.
11.) Once you have selected the folder of the portrait PNG file within that folder will be used. In my case, with Python Editor, I selected folder \0010, then the Editor grabbed the Medium.png within that folder and used it for the portrait. Physically this portrait is located on my drive at location "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Kingmaker\Portraits\0010\Medium.png". If there is a folder inside \Portraits called "\Iconic Kyra" it will grab the Medium.png from that folder and so on. So, the path the Editor may be using in this alternate example as "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Kingmaker\Portraits\Iconic Kyra\Medium.png". Do you get it?
12.) Select File > Save. the Savegame file you opened will be saved back to where it was opened from and you are now in business and can see a NEW portrait in your saved game file. In my case, "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Kingmaker\Saved Games\"Manual_30_Barony_s_Capital___4_Rova__IX__4710___05_31_03.zks" This is the original and main file that I am currently using when I select "Continue" in my adventure. Once you manually save a new game (or the game creates an autosave) it will use that as the NEW manual or default when you select "Continue" from the main screen.
13.) When you are done saving you can close the Python Editor and the Command line window should close as well. You can close both windows by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the window. You can also close the Windows Explorer window as well.
14.) "Continue" your game and you will now notice the new Portrait you picked is now active inside the game for your main character only. Your party characters are still the defaults the game picked as is the rest of the game. If there is a way to change those portraits I do not know at this time.

    Off-Topic step:
15.) Some people were asking where it saves it then blaming the dev of this editor or posting hostile retorts when they cannot find it. Various hostile posts to that similar affect. The reason they do not know where it saves it is because in school when you were young you were taught a concept called DEDUCTIVE REASONING which clued you in to how things work and how a good brain is supposed to work correctly. When you have to be implicitly coddled to know how to think then perhaps some people should not be mucking around inside game files to begin with. This step is not a game-related Step but it really perturbs me when you FAIL TO LEARN HOW TO THINK IN GRADE SCHOOL and blame others for the failure YOU MADE. Blaming people like this fine Python Developer who gave you a tool some are incapable of knowing how to operate. In stupid innocuous instances, like finding savegame files, some people fail to address the underlying inability to know how to THINK with your big brains then turn around and blame OTHERS for your failures to pay attention in school when you were being taught but did not listen or pay attention. These people are everywhere in our society blaming those around them instead of looking inward. You may ignore this last step as it more of observation. =)

I read through most of the comments looking for help, but not much was actually helpful.

I am using windows/steam and I can open your program and use the "open" function to select the file I would like to edit. The problem is that I cannot verify that it properly did select the file successfully.

After I allegedly edit the file in x way, when I use the "save" function, I do not see the saved file anywhere. It would be nice to see where the saved file went and what the name was, the traditional way when you save any given file (i.e. naming it and selecting a file path location).

Long story long, I am not able to locate said saved file, and therefore not able to load said saved file. Do you have any recommendations on possible fixes in this situation by chance?

Yeah dude. I'm moving onto a different editor. There are a few out there. I can see this was a 'learning' experiment for the author because it looks like something you learn in the first week of a community college programming class.

Open the save, edit it, click save, editor closes.
A save with a random name is then generated in the folder. Probably with alphanumeric characters. Make a backup of your old save then rename the new weird-named file to what your unedited save was. Then load. That's how I did it, fairly intuitively because I have some experience with cmd-generated files, but indeed it should have mentioned this in description.
