It would be nice if you could change enemy Saves(=the biggest reason of "worthless build" and resultant pigeonholing to avoid that state) with this. And other settings like Language dependent(=ugh).
As someone who adores the cRPG genre and has since the genre existed - but who never played Pathfinder 1e or D&D 3.5e - the chance that I was going to be able to build a min/maxed party that could survive the insane difficulty swings of this game are basically zip. Though I crowdfunded the title, I set it aside as unplayable until I found this mod.
"insane" difficulty? Hm... Have you ever played BG Trilogy with SCS with max settings, esp SoA and ToB with all highlvl mages getting HLA? Bc even unfair in this game is nothing in comparison. Not even close. There is no actual diff in this game as default AI is dumb asf. And also a lot of ridiculously op items, some of them even directly forbidden by pnp rules if memory serves, like the ones with dodge bonus. So, no, this game is not about insane difficulty. But, i agree that balance, in general, sucks as they made it like "cheese" vs "cheese" style. Instead of what was done in SCS.
P.s. no intention to offend and etc, just seemed strange for "someone who adores the cRPG genre and has since the genre existed" to have problems with this game diff as all ppl i know and that played old classics has zero problems with this game, bugs aside.
I am trying to find a mod for increased difficulty to use with a party of 10 characters. Would it be possible for me to use this mod to double all enemy bonuses on the maximum difficulty? What values would I need to use?
Yes, it is possible to do that. The vanilla bonus (for each increase in the enemy difficulty option) is +2 to AC and attack bonus and +4 to all attributes. If you want to double that you have to use +4 to AC and attack and +8 to all attributes.
Quick question here - is there a "Core" difficulty setting, closer to the PnP statistics, without the stat bloat introduced by Owlcat even on the "Normal" enemy statistics?
OwlCat never implemented a "core difficulty" setting - like the ones you probably saw in some D&D video games. Therefore, it is hard to tell which are the correct translations of the pnp game. You can compare it with the pnp Adventure Path, but not all enemies are the same and the original pnp AP was made for a party of four, not six. So, I am not sure comparing it to the pnp AP is useful either.
If you want your monsters to have the original stats block (i.e. the stats blocks as was originally intended for this game), I recommend you select the normal option in both "Enemy Difficulty" and “Enemy Stat Adjustment”.
Thanks! I don't think so. I am using this mod as well and I don't see any conflicts. Furthermore, the code that wrote does not interfere with the base monsters, only the bonus that all enemies get from the settings. In other words, the code changes only the settings, not each individual monster.
Thank you! I'll be updating my steam post of all the nexus mods any day now, so I'll be sure to add this one in as a must have for people who want a more accurate tabletop experience! https://steamcommunity.com/app/640820/discussions/0/1645418448927040249/

So thank you again. :)

I feel like this mod is such an excellent addition!
Would it conflict with this mod that edits a lot of encounters?
