About this mod

Suffering from shellshock and anxiety? Jostled by earthquakes and tremors? Are you developing a deep and insidious distrust of trumpeting instruments?

And... is it because of the elephant in the room?

Then fear not! With the Mastodon Muzzle and Muffle™, you can now tell your woolly companion to stick a tusk in it!

A Sylvan Sorcerer having fun with his Mastodon companion. He has a smile on his face. This could be you.

What does this mod do?
1. This mod transforms the Mastodon's gigatonne megazord bulldozer turbo-omega-thunderstorm legs into quiet legs.

2. This mod stuffs the junk in the trunk. Optionally, the Mastodon no longer trumpets, wheezes, sniffles, or sneezes when out of combat. He continues to do all of these things in active combat, but not in idle combat (I also muted combat_idle sound files).

Installation:
1. Download the mod folder.

2. Go to your Pathfinder directory and access the Windows folder at Kingmaker_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\GeneratedSoundBanks\Windows. (If you use a Macdonalds then go to the Mac folder in GeneratedSoundBanks instead.)

3. Open the mod folder and and drag its contents ("main.bnk" and "CRE_Mastodon.bnk") into the Windows folder, replacing the original soundbanks.

P.S. If you only want to mute the footsteps and would rather keep the out-of combat trumpeting, then only replace the "main.bnk" file!

4. Done! And now make a backup of the original soundbanks "main.bnk" and "CRE_Mastodon.bnk" so you... oh wait. Maybe this step shouldn't be at the bottom.

Warning:
I have not yet played the game past the first enemy encounter because I couldn't stand the horrible thunderclapping from the Mastodon. The nature of the modifications I made to the soundbank is such that there should be no errors or conflicts, but certain sounds in the game (specifically Black Dragon footsteps) will be muted as well. As long as a creature doesn't share the same footstep sound files as the mastodon then they will not be affected (which is, from what I can tell, 99.99% of creatures).

(I know, because I went through 99.99% of the footstep files before I found the Mastodon's files, which were conveniently named "Black Dragon". Yep, the Mastodon and its stubby little legs use Black Dragon footsteps, which is why when it waddles over the carpet it sounds like a firing squad.)
