    Can I ask how you did this? I wanted to create a translation mod for the game, but I don't know how to edit the text.

      My main tools are :

      • UnrealPakTool (for extracting uasset/uexp files)
      • UnrealPak (for converting modified uasset files into pak files)
      • UAssetGUI (for converting uasset files into JSON files, as it's easier to edit JSON on a text editor)
      • Any text editor, but I prefer Sublime Text

    Great mod ! 
    Did it take you a long time to do this? Can it be done for other languages? I'm just asking to know
    I know Spanish and studying English.

      It didn't take that long cause I re-used the Python script I wrote for Octopath 1's dual sub mod. While I don't really remember how long it took to write the script, the coding part maybe took me about a few days?

      When it comes to making dual sub mods, the real challenge lies in testing the mod. I spent upwards of 50 hours testing Octopath 1's dual subs mod, cause there were so many cut-off speech balloons 🫠 Octopath 2 doesn't have the same issue, but there are definitely cut-off text in narration segments (which I'm still looking into).


      Can it be done for other languages?

      Yes, but it will take a long time to test the mod. The first part (making the mod) is relatively easy, but the second part (testing the mod) made me question if I love a game enough to dedicate my free time to check every single speech balloon and narration segment, lol

    Great mod, 

     Would it be possible to get a version of this with only hiragana and katakana? 


    I'm studying Japanese and sooo not ready for Kanji

      I'm afraid it's not possible to make a version of this mod where there are no kanji. Maybe the English_Japanese_subs.txt file (under Miscellaneous files) could be helpful? I always use it to look up unfamiliar Japanese words whenever I play the game

    I have played all the chapters!

    I really enjoyed this mod as well as the previous ones! I knew it would be even more fun with the abundance of voices, thanks!
    (Not related to this mod, but I mistook Energizing Pomegranate for Empowering Lychee and got beat up by the back boss many times...)

    I couldn't find any scene where the speech balloons were missing!
    But there were a couple of occasions where the Japanese language didn't show up all of a sudden, and I was also playing with the other Nexus mod “NewDawn 1.2.1”, so maybe that had something to do with it. I took a screenshot in case you need it, so let me know if you need it.

    Thanks for a great mod! I may play with this mod again in time.

      It's interesting how nearly all of them are narration segments, except for that one scene involving Ochette. I haven't played that far in the game to check the scenes myself, but I'll be sure to look into the mod's file

    I've been playing with this mod for ~5 hours, and I haven't seen any cut-off balloons. It's very well done! Thank you for sharing this mod with us.

    However, the alternate font choice for 女 and 心 is strange and I notice it every time they appear. Is it not possible to use the original font (New Cinema, I think it is) for them?

      I take no credits for zero cut-off balloons, cause it's all thanks to the devs for implementing the auto-positioning feature for speech balloons (wish I could say the same for 100+ cut-off balloons in Octopath 1 😢)

      Yeah, I totally get that slightly jarring feeling whenever I see 「女」、「心」 and 「必」have a different thickness to them, especially when compared to the other kanji in the default Japanese font. I'll upload an alternate version later, where all of the kanji are from the default Japanese font

    I've read the instructions, and I'm very glad you made it faster than I thought you would!
    It may take some time, but if there is anything obviously wrong with the display, I'll check it out.

    I will use it right away, I'm looking forward to it!

      I was so happy when I found out about the new auto-position feature for the speech balloons. To me, it was even more amazing than the improved graphics and animations 😭

      If it weren't for the auto-position feature, I would've uploaded this mod at least 2 months from now. I'm very slow in checking for cut-off balloons, so I'd appreciate it if people could send screenshots of any cut-off balloons they might come across.
