Just to address this now after some comments; the reason I refer to Umbra as they/them is lore based. The sword takes over your life and mind through obsession and strips you of your identity outside of feeding Umbra. Umbra is an entity that has no gender, and the body (previously a woman named Lenwin) is nothing but an extension of the sword itself. It has nothing to do with my or your personal beliefs.
I agree, Umbra should be a MUCH stronger. She has to have been formidable indeed in order to get those weapons for herself. Her stats should reflect how powerful she is, indeed how powerful she would HAVE to be in order for her to wear that equipment.
I mean it's not like she just found them lying around in a ruin somewhere... she'd have to have defeated a powerful opponent in order to procure that equipment for herself.
Her power level is pretty underwhelming in Vanilla, and hopefully your mod will make it so that she can't be "cheesed" quite as easily by drawing her into silly traps and just drawing her out forever. In order for you to defeat her, you should be powerful indeed!
We just need to get a mod which modifies her AI behavior so that she doesn't mindlessly chase down the player into obvious exploits found on the internet. She should be more mindful of herself, since she'd have to be a strong and intelligent woman to possess Umbra!
Her name IS UMBRA for goodness sake! She has a terrifying name. In addition, her, being one of shadow(UMBRA), should have some Chameleon ability so that she may strike at you with her power from the shadows.
Yeah, the goal was to make Umbra waaaay stronger and eliminate some of the cheese but not have them so overpowered its just a pain in the a**. I also did not want the loot to be the best in the game either because I feel that is a disservice to the rest of the game. I will look into cleverly redesigning the dungeon to prevent the wild chase but AI script is well beyond my capacity XD
@DryCreek: I experimented with both invisibility and chameleon. They would just waste all their magicka on invisibility every time they could instead of casting their better spells and when I tried chameleon I realized that all their magic effects made them easy to see anyway so I ditched the idea in favor of keeping their other spells as higher priority.
we indeed need some proper balancing I'm an old Oblivion Veteran and the difficulty overall is a joke and most fights are trivial beyond some Point. This is a very good start, keep cooking my Man.
Original Post: I suppose I could update it without the night vision, was not actually expecting anyone to wear it XD its really there because the effect helps NPCs with detecting PCs that are sneaking.

This kind of artifact should have it's own affect upon the player as well. Like a scripted choice to drop it or be forever bound to it.

As in make a version for Umbra without the changes to the Masque, or a separate file with only the masque changes?
