Detailed Manual Installation Instructions: First, choose if you want 8K or 4K resolution and download the associated file. Next, choose if you want to install a Cyrodiil map, either Coior, Color Alt, Desaturated (Desat), Desaturated Alt, Monochrome (Mono), or Monochrome Alt. Examples of each are included in the images folder and on the main mod page.
Afterwards. decide if you want a Shivering Isles (SI) map, Either Color, Desaturated, Monochrome, or Monochrome Alt. Finally, choose if you want a higher resolution Local Map background, either in Light or Dark parchment color.
Once you've picked the versions you want, take the three files inside each chosen version folder and extract them to your '{Game Installation}/OblivionRemastered/Content/Paks/~mods/' folder. If this is your first mod, you'll have to manually create a '~mods' folder.
NMM isn't officially supported. If neither the Vortex or MO2 options in the installer place the files in the right place, you'll just have to manually move them to the correct location using the Manual Install instructions.
I do not understand why this mod does not work, I tried to install it in a folder called “AMCWM” and just throwing 3 files: “pak”; “ucas”; ‘utoc’ in the folder “~mods”.I tried 4K and 8K and alternatives Desat/Desat alt/Color/Color alt .I'm not sure about the “Local” I think it works, but the map itself remains standard. What am I doing wrong?
Ensure you don't have a conflicting map replacer mod installed. If you're unsure, try prefacing the mod folder with a few zeros, like so; "0000_AMCWM", and ensuring all the sets of pak/ucas/utoc files from this mod are inside it.
Ah, hmm. I see you're map isn't in English. I'm betting the localized interface files have a different filename, meaning these aren't replacing them correctly. Are you familiar with FModel? If you could dig around in your files, since the English version only comes with the English files, perhaps you could find the file names for your language's version of the map, and I can provide a patch. Also, forgive me, but what language is that? I know it looks like a type of Cyrillic, but I'm not sure which.
Russian Completely forgot about the “Russifier” yes, I'm almost 100% sure that the mod does not work because of it. xd I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for the quick answers.
Oh, that's actually perfect. I have someone already working on a Russian translation of this map. I'll ask them if there's a workaround in the meantime. One last thing to try for now though; try moving the AMCWM folder out of the ~mods folder and ensure it has a name that forces it to be alphabetically at the top of any other files and folders in the Paks folder. I want to make absolutely certain nothing is overwriting it.
Yes, I checked the files and found in the folder “Paks” Russian version of the map, after deleting these files (or placing the folder “000AMCWM” in the folder “Pkas”) mod worked.Once again I apologize for the inconvenience, I completely forgot that the game does not support the Russian language and for the Russian map there is a separate mod “Russifier”. And now I'm faced with a choice. Play with a beautiful in English or play with a standard but Russian map. But I am more inclined to your map, as English is not such a big sacrifice for the sake of beauty. By the way - maybe these files will help you to make a Russian version of the map?
I wouldn't trust myself to make an accurate translation, but as I said, I have someone who's already working on it with the source and font files I've sent them. I'll be sure to reply and let you know when its done.
No inconvenience though, just glad we sorted the root of the problem out!
I can't seem to get the .psd source files to open. Always gives an error of zip stream not fully decompressed or something like that. I have unziped the archive many time with multiple programs and no matter what the seam just happens again. Any help?
Tried using 7zip? If so, it's likely a corrupt download. I know it's a pain to redownload such a large file, but that's the only thing I can think of if unzipping it with 7zip doesn't work.
Oh, it's the file itself that won't open? I misunderstood then, I thought it wasn't extracting. In that case, paintdotnet might not be able to handle such large files. Try seeing if you can increase the memory allocated for it, or a different program like GIMP. I just tried the latter, and other than it taking a while to open and the desaturate layer not working, it seemed to load fine.

What exactly am I supposed to use and where do they all go? Manually install that is.
If you want to continue using the same version you were, you'll want one of the colored versions, either BetterWorldMap_4K_Color or BetterWorldMap_8K_Color depending on your desired resolution. Simply take the three files for the version you wish to install and place them where the old version was, making sure to delete the old files as they don't share a name and won't be replaced.
Look, I'm not sure how much simpler I can make this. The folders with a variant name are for Cyrodiil, the folders with SI in them are for Shivering Isles, and the folders with Local in them are for the local map. Simply extract the 3 files from each folder you want to use, and place them all in your ~mods folder.
Basically you choose if you want color, color alt, desat, desat alt, fomod, mono or mono alt for the main world map. Then choose either Local Dark or Local Light for the Local Map. Last choose either SI color, SI desat, SI mono or SI mono alt.
Now for me I just didn't know and still don't know the difference between all them versions except for the local maps, Just different shades I assume. Look at all the pictures it helps.
I just went with the Color, Local Dark and SI Color. 3 files from each of the 3, I choose. Works great for me.

I play on Linux and cannot use Mod Managers. Therefore, i really appreciate instructions for manual installation.
These maps are great. I installed the 2006 look and feel. Many thanks, mate.
If you can find where the installation is, it should be the same once you reach the root folder at 'OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks\~mods`, the ~mods folder you'll have to make yourself if this is your first time installing a mod for this game. Other than that, I can't offer too much help myself as I don't have the Game Pass version, and thus am unfamiliar with its file structure.
I do have that installed, and my custom markers still work. I recommend disabling all your mods and enabling them a few at a time till you find what causes the issue. I also recommend seeing if it's not a base issue, and doesn't persist with not mods enabled at all.
Can confirm works great with gamepass was easy to install you should have this by default OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks right click and add folder and name it~mods and place the unzipped files in there and should load into the game just fine did for me
Ok, I didn't think there would be a reason to go anywhere beyond the 4K upscale mod on the world map. But this is just so much better now. Well done. Endorsed.
