This mod is a retexture of the sword from quest mod Blade of the Haunted by jaime74 with the primary goal of removing the Tolkien Elven text from its blade.
Details
The sword obtained at the end of The Blade of the Haunted - A Sword Quest by jaime74 makes for a very nice reward.
However, I think visually it could be better, primarily the text written on the blade. Its just... Elvish from Middle Earth. Rather immersion breaking for me,
so I decided to replace the text with something else.
1. The Elvish script has been replaced with worn latin medieval text. Its so old and crumbly that it doesn't even look like English letters anymore, and the crumbling look fits the sword's story, as it is an ancient forgotten blade.
2. A medieval symbol of a king has been placed at the top of the blade, again, replacing the Tolkien ornaments from the original.
3. A darkened blade texture from Classic Sword Replacers has been laid underneath the medieval text texture to add more depth and detail to the blade.
4. I have retextured/recolored the hilt/grip/pommel of the sword to make its appearance match the alternative dark sword sheath available in the original mod.
If you do not use the alternative dark sword sheath, I have included a "blade only" download, so that you can preserve the original colors of the hilt/grip/pommel.
Requirements
1. The Blade of the Haunted - A Sword Quest by jaime74 or else you can't get this sword.
2. Blade of the Haunted Unofficial Patch by slowpard (technically not required, but you would be crazy not to use this.)
Installation
1. Choose one of two downloads:
- "BotH Sword Retexture 1.0" to retexture the entire sword to match the appearance of the alternative dark sword sheath.
- "BotH Sword Retexture-Just the blade 1.0" to retexture only the blade of the sword to replace the Tolkien Elvish writing.
2. Download this mod, unzip the file, and Drop the folder titled "data" in your Oblivion directory and confirm any messages asking to overwrite any files.
