Installed the mod & like most others say here, there's no crosshair at all. Although I actually dig the lack of the crosshair so I've kept it this way. Nice little difficulty tweak. XD Thanks

If you're using wyre bash just drag the archive into the installers tab, right click and install from the dropdown menu.

Installed with Nehrim via wyre bash, looks much better than vanilla.

Sadly, I'm also getting no crosshair showing whatsoever after installing this mod, even when I'm not using any other HUD or menu mods.

EDIT: It’s a bit annoying that the original is now hidden, because that mod worked for me and I’ve long known about the offset anyway. I’ve always adjusted by aiming slightly high and left in Oblivion and Skyrim.

+1 I must also report I am not seeing a crosshair while using this mod. (I have no other HUD/UI, etc. mods installed. I use the latest Wyre Bash to install my mods.)

Mod worked as intended for me. I'm using "NorthernUI" + "Imperial Theme for NorthernUI". Only suggestion is to make the dot a bit transparent.

    Thanks @VanScythe

Yep, it didn't work for me either, there was no crosshair. And I had no other mods whatsoever while I tested this. Thing is, I did a bit of digging and found out something. I checked vanilla hud_reticle.xml and saw that it only allows to use <width> 37 </width> and <height> 37 </height> worth of hud_reticle.dds, and in your texture visible part of a reticle is outside of that zone. So I quickly edited vanilla hud_reticle.xml to use <width> 45 </width> and <height> 43 </height> to include visible part. Crosshair actually started to appear in-game after that. NorthernUI doesn't limit what part of a reticle texture to use, it just uses all of it, so same exact texture works just fine there.

But it will still look really off, it will be visibly misaligned. I don't know what you mean by "sneaking and standing reticles are not in the same position", because in vanilla they absolutely are. Reticle doesn't move or change at all when you switch sneak on and off, just that sneak eye appears in addition to it. My guess is that in NorthernUI sneak reticle fully replaces standart one (like it is in Skyrim) and not just adds to it, so thats where you got it from. I personally never noticed vanilla crosshair being slightly off, but if it is, it's not just reticle, it's all of it. You need to edit UI configs to properly change that, not texture.

My point is, no fix was required for vanilla at all. You did fix or adapt it to work with NorthernUI, clearly, but broke it for the base game. You are using NorthernUI in your video, but did you actually test this with vanilla UI yourself? I hope I'm not just losing my mind. For now, since the original is unavailable, anyone who wants to use this reticle without NorthernUI will have to edit the texture and move visible part back to its original spot. Also, saving UI textures with mip-maps is generally a bad idea, because their quality will change with graphical settings, and that really shouldn't be happening for UI elements, even though Oblivion does hadle it a little different.

    Original mod is available again.

Tried this with DarnifiedUI, but got no crosshair at all?

There is no version for DarNifiedUI, so you won't see them (the file path is different). Let me get DarNUI and see if I can patch up a version you can use.

After some digging, it appears that DarNUI uses several .xml files to link itself to vanilla texture paths, then edits them in-game (color, alpha (transparency), width and position). As a correction for my previous comment, DarNUI uses whatever reticles that are already there, and provides none of it's own.

Unfortunately, this means there isn't much more I can do than I already have (the textures already path to where DarNUI looks for them), and I am bound to break something if I tear through his code without his help. In theory, these should work just fine. It could be the reticle is being moved or hidden by DarNUI's settings, many of which can be changed in-game. I am unsure if that's the reason the reticle disappears, but it might be worth looking into.

DarN hasn't been around for a while, and his UI is outdated (and it shows). The maximum resolution his interface can be is ~1280x800, which could potentially cause issues with new HUD textures (it's also the reason everything looks so small with DarNUI). I can ask around and keep tinkering with it, but I think there isn't much else I can do (at least with my level of knowledge).

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully DarN will get back to me or I figure it out by accident, but it looks like I may have my first incompatibility...

Yeah thought so much. I just removed dialogue frame for my game with transparent textures, after checking the xml files. Might tinker if I find the reason it's not showing from the xml files. Other than that I think DarnifiedUI is still the best looking UI, with the new UHD Fonts it works nicely with 5120x1440 resolution.

It's great you can get it to work with a larger resolution. DarNUI's comment/forum section is full of people having difficulty setting it up, let alone getting it working how they want. I used it ages ago, but I now have too many mods to get it playing nice, so I just use replacers. I average ~350-400 plugins at any time.

If you do figure out what's causing it, please let me know so I can release a version that works for other DarNUI users. Again, I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

For some reason, this isn't actually working for me - the texture just doesn't show up and I have no crosshair. The prior one I was using (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49585/?tab=files) is packed the exact same way and still works fine, and I used the old unfixed dot crosshair years ago without issue, so I'm a bit puzzled.

I am confused as well. I just double-checked the textures and they're working. Did you extract it to your Oblivion folder, or your Data folder? Which version are you using?
